Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus

³⁴ And calling the multitude, with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever wishes to follow after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. ³⁵  For whoever wishes to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life for my sake, and that of the good news, shall save it. ³⁶ For what will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his life?
