The Birth Of Jesus Christ

18 The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit.(O)

18 Now the birth of Jesus (r)Christ was as follows: when His (L)mother Mary had been (s)betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was (M)found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah happened in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they lived together she was discovered to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been (j)betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by [the power of] the Holy Spirit.

19 So her husband Joseph, being a righteous man,(P) and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly.(Q)

19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned (t)(N)to send her away secretly.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

19 Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to disgrace her, decided to divorce her secretly.

19 And Joseph her [promised] husband, being a just and righteous man and not wanting to expose her publicly to shame, planned to send her away and divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.(R)

20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “(O)Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for (u)the Child who has been (v)conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

20 After he had thought about it, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," he said, "don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the Child who has been (k)conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus,(i)(S) because He will save His people from their sins.”(T)

21 She will bear a Son; and (P)you shall call His name Jesus, for (w)He (Q)will save His people from their sins.”

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he is the one who will save his people from their sins."

21 She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will (l)save His people from their sins.”

22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:

22 Now all this (x)took place to fulfill what was (R)spoken by the Lord through the prophet:

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

22 Now all this happened to fulfill what was declared by the Lord through the prophet when he said,

22 All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the (m)prophet [Isaiah]:

23 See, the virgin will become pregnantand give birth to a son,and they will name Him Immanuel,(j)which is translated “God is with us.”(U)

23 (S)Behold, the virgin shall be with (T)child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name (y)Immanuel,” which translated means, “(U)God with us.”

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

23 "See, a virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel,"

23 Behold, the (n)virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel”—which, when translated, means, “God with us.”(D)

24 When Joseph got up from sleeping, he did as the Lord’s angel had commanded him. He married her(V)

24 And Joseph (z)awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife,

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

24 which means, "God with us." When Joseph got up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary as his wife.

24 Then Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and he took Mary [to his home] as his wife,

25 but did not know her intimately until she gave birth to a son.(k) And he named Him Jesus.(W)

25 (aa)but kept her a virgin until she (V)gave birth to a Son; and (W)he called His name Jesus.

25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

25 He did not have marital relations with her until she had given birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.

25 but he kept her a virgin until she had given birth to a Son [her firstborn child]; and he named Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation).
