¹⁶ Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore discerning as serpents, and pure as doves. ¹⁷ And hold ye from men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their assemblies will they scourge you. ¹⁸ And ye shalt be brought before leaders and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.
