But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be healed.

And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.

I will arise and go to my father and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."

Certainly not! Let God be true, though every man a liar. As it is written: "That you may be justified in your words and prevail when you are judged."

And last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared to me also.

Even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor, I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;

Yet

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

longing to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches on all who call upon him.

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
