1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
1 (A)The (B)Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they (C)asked Him to show them a (a)sign from heaven.
1 The Pharisees and Sadducees approached,(A) and as a test, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.(B)
1 When the Pharisees and Sadducees arrived, in order to test Jesus they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 He answered and said unto them, "At even ye say, 'We shall have fair weather,' and that because the sky is red:
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
2 But He replied to them, “(b)(D)When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
2 He answered them: “When evening comes you say, ‘It will be good weather because the sky is red.’
2 He replied to them, "You say, "Red sky at night, what a delight!
3 And in the morning, ye say, 'Today shall be foul weather,' and that because the sky is cloudy and red. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the fashion of the sky: and can ye not discern the signs of the times?
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
3 And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ (E)Do you know how to discern the (c)appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?
3 And in the morning, ‘Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.’ You(a) know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can’t read the signs of the times.(b)
3 Red sky in the morning, cloudy and storming.'
4 The forward nation, and adulterous, seeketh a sign: and there shall none other sign be given unto them, but the sign of the prophet Jonah." So left he them and departed.
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
4 (F)An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a (d)sign; and a (e)sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.
4 An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of(c) Jonah.”(C) Then He left them and went away.
4 You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, yet you can't interpret the signs of the times? An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah." Then he left them and went away.
Beware The Leaven Of The Pharisees And Sadducees
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side of the water, they had forgotten to take bread with them.
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
5 And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread.
5 When his disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to take any bread along.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, "Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees."
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
6 And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and (G)beware of the (f)leaven of the (H)Pharisees and Sadducees.”
6 Jesus told them, "Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!"
7 And they thought in themselves, saying, "Because we have brought no bread with us."
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
7 They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.”
7 And they discussed among themselves, “We didn’t bring any bread.”
7 As they began to discuss this among themselves, they kept saying, "We didn't bring along any bread."
8 When Jesus understood that, he said unto them, "O ye of little faith, why are your minds cumbered because ye have brought no bread?
8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
8 But Jesus, aware of this, said, “(I)You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread?
8 Aware of this, Jesus said, “You of little faith!(E) Why are you discussing among yourselves that you do not have bread?
8 Knowing this, Jesus asked them, "You who have little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you don't have any bread?
9 Do ye not yet perceive, neither remember those five loaves, when there were five thousand men, and how many baskets took ye up?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
9 Do you not yet understand or remember (J)the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up?
9 Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the 5,000 and how many baskets you collected?
9 Don't you understand yet? Don't you remember the five loaves for the 5,000 and how many baskets you collected,
11 Why perceive ye not, then, that I spake not unto you of bread, when I said, 'Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?'"
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
11 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But (L)beware of the (g)leaven of the (M)Pharisees and Sadducees.”
11 Why is it you don’t understand that when I told you, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees,’ it wasn’t about bread?”(G)
11 How can you fail to understand that I wasn't talking to you about bread? Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!"
12 Then understood they, how that he bade not them beware of the leaven of bread: but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
12 Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the (N)Pharisees and Sadducees.
12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the yeast in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.(H)
12 Then they understood that he did not say to beware of the yeast used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
13 (O)Now when Jesus came into the district of (P)Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that (Q)the Son of Man is?”
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi,(f)(I) He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”(g)
13 When Jesus had come to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
14 They said, "Some say that thou art John Baptist, some Elijah, some Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
14 And they said, “Some say (R)John the Baptist; and others, (h)(S)Elijah; but still others, (i)Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”(J)
14 They said, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
17 And Jesus answered, and said to him, "Happy art thou, Simon the son of Jonas, for flesh and blood hath not opened unto thee that, but my father which is in heaven.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, (W)Simon (k)Barjona, because (X)flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
17 And Jesus responded, “Simon son of Jonah,(h)(L) you are blessed because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father in heaven.(M)
17 Then Jesus told him, "How blessed you are, Simon son of Jonah, since flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, though my Father in heaven has.
18 And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter. And upon this rock, I will build my congregation: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
18 I also say to you that you are (l)(Y)Peter, and upon this (m)rock I will build My church; and the gates of (Z)Hades will not overpower it.
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter,(i) and on this rock(j) I will build My church,(N) and the forces(k) of Hades will not overpower it.
18 I tell you that you are Peter, and it is on this rock that I will build my congregation, and the powers of hell will not conquer it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou bindest upon earth, it shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou loosest on earth, it shall be loosed in heaven."
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 I will give you (AA)the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and (AB)whatever you bind on earth (n)shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth (o)shall have been loosed in heaven.”
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,(O) and whatever you bind on earth is already bound(l) in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed(m) in heaven.”
19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom from heaven. Whatever you prohibit on earth will have been prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven."
Jesus Predicts His Death And Resurrection
21 From that time forth, Jesus began to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders, and of the high priests, and of the scribes; and must be killed, and rise again the third day.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
21 (AE)From that time (r)Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and (AF)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
21 From(Q) then on Jesus began to point out to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.(R)
21 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he would have to go to Jerusalem and suffer a great deal because of the elders, the high priests, and the scribes. Then he would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised.
22 But Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him saying, "Master, favor thyself, this shall not come unto thee."
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “(s)God forbid it, Lord! This shall never (t)happen to You.”
22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, “Oh no,(o) Lord! This will never happen to You!”
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "God be merciful to you, Lord! This must never happen to you!"
23 Then turned he about, and said unto Peter, "Come after me, Satan: thou offendest me, because thou savourest not Godly things, but worldly things."
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on (u)God’s interests, but man’s.”
23 But He turned and told Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns,(p) but man’s.”(S)
23 But Jesus turned and told Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me, because you are not thinking God's thoughts but human thoughts!"
Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus
24 Jesus then said to his disciples. "If any man will follow me, let him forsake himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and (AH)take up his cross and follow Me.
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.(T)
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone wants to follow me, he must deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow me continuously.
25 For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it. And whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
25 For (AI)whoever wishes to save his (v)life will lose it; but whoever loses his (w)life for My sake will find it.
25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it.(U)
25 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it,
26 What shall it profit a man, though he should win all the whole world, if he lose his own soul? Or else, what shall a man give to redeem his soul again withal?
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
26 What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?(V)
26 because what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?
27 For the son of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his angels, and then shall he reward every man according to his deeds.
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
27 For the (AJ)Son of Man (AK)is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and (AL)will then (x)repay every man according to his (y)deeds.
27 For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father,(W) and then He will reward each according to what he has done.
27 The Son of Man is going to come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to what he has done.
28 Verily I say unto you, some there be among them that here stand, which shall not taste of death, till they shall have seen the son of man come in his kingdom."
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
28 “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the (AM)Son of Man (AN)coming in His kingdom.”
28 I assure you: There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”(X)
28 I tell all of you with certainty, some people standing here will not experience death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
