Matthew 17:10

The disciples inquired of him, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah has to come first?"

There appeared to them Moses and Elijah, who conversed with Jesus.

On hearing this some of the bystanders said, "He is calling for Elijah."

So they put this question to him, "Why do the [Pharisees and] scribes say that Elijah has to come first?"

They asked him, "Then what are you? Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" "No," he answered.

so they asked him, saying, "Then why are you baptizing people, if you are neither the Christ nor Elijah nor the Prophet?"
