And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

and presently they saw Moses and Elias conversing with him.

and if ye will believe me, he is the Elias that was to come.

some of the standers by, when they heard that, said, he calls upon Elias.

At length they started this question, why do the Scribes say, that Elias must first come?

art thou then Elias? said they; and he answer'd, I am not. art thou a prophet? and he answer'd, no.
