Jesus Is Raised

1 After the Sabbath, in the early dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary came to see the sepulchre.

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

1 (A)Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, (B)Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.

1 After the Sabbath,(A) as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb.

1 After the Sabbaths, around dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to take a look at the burial site.

2 But to their amazement there had been a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord had descended from Heaven, and had come and rolled back the stone, and was sitting upon it.

2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for (C)an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away (D)the stone and sat upon it.

2 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.(B)

2 Suddenly, there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it.

3 His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.

3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

3 And (E)his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.

3 His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow.(C)

3 His appearance was bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

4 For fear of him the guards trembled violently, and became like dead men.

4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

4 The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.

4 The guards were so shaken from fear of him that they became like dead men.

4 Trembling from fear, even the guards themselves became catatonic.

5 But the angel said to the women, "As for you, dismiss your fears. I know that it is Jesus that you are looking for--the crucified One.

5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

5 The angel said to the women, “(a)(F)Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.

5 But the angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.(D)

5 Responding to the women, the angel said, "Stop being frightened! I know you're looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

6 He is not here: He has come back to life, as He foretold. Come and see the place where He lay.

6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

6 He is not here, for He has risen, (G)just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.

6 He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.(E)

6 He is not here. He has been raised, just as he said. Come and see the place where he was lying.

7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead and is going before you into Galilee: there you shall see Him. Remember, I have told you."

7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

7 Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you (H)into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples,(F) ‘He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there.’ Listen, I have told you.”(G)

7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. He is going ahead of you into Galilee, and you will see him there. Remember, I have told you!"

8 They quickly left the tomb and ran, still terrified but full of unspeakable joy, to carry the news to His disciples.

8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

8 And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.

8 So, departing quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell His disciples the news.

8 So they quickly left the tomb, terrified but also ecstatic, and ran to tell Jesus' disciples.

9 And then suddenly they saw Jesus coming to meet them. "Peace be to you," He said. And they came and clasped His feet, bowing to the ground before Him.

9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

9 And behold, Jesus met them (b)and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.

9 Just then(a) Jesus met them and said, “Good morning!” They came up, took hold of His feet, and worshiped Him.(H)

9 Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" They went up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him.

10 Then He said, "Dismiss all fear! Go and take word to my brethren to go into Galilee, and there they shall see me."

10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

10 Then Jesus *said to them, (c)(I)Do not be afraid; go and take word to (J)My brethren to leave (K)for Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

10 Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see Me there.”(I)

10 Then Jesus told them, "Stop being frightened! Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."

The Guards Report The Body Stolen

11 While they went on this errand, some of the guards came into the city and reported to the High Priests every detail of what had happened.

11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

11 Now while they were on their way, some of (L)the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.

11 As they were on their way, some of the guards came into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.

11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the high priests everything that had happened.

12 So the latter held a conference with the Elders, and after consultation with them they heavily bribed the soldiers,

12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

12 And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,

12 After the priests(b) had assembled with the elders and agreed on a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money

12 So they met with the elders and agreed on a plan to give the soldiers a large amount of money.

13 telling them to say, "His disciples came during the night and stole his body while we were asleep."

13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

13 and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’

13 and told them, “Say this, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole Him while we were sleeping.’

13 They said, "Say that Jesus' disciples came at night and stole him while you were sleeping.

14 "And if this," they added, "is reported to the Governor, we will satisfy him and screen you from punishment."

14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

14 And if this should come to (M)the governor’s ears, we will win him over and (d)keep you out of trouble.”

14 If this reaches the governor’s ears,(c) we will deal with(d) him and keep you out of trouble.”(J)

14 If this is reported to the governor, we'll personally persuade him to keep you out of trouble."

15 So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this story was noised about among the Jews, and is current to this day.

15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

15 And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely (N)spread among the Jews, and is (O)to this day.

15 So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been spread among Jewish people to this day.(K)

15 So the soldiers took the money, did as they were instructed, and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.

The Great Commission

16 As for the eleven disciples, they proceeded into Galilee, to the hill where Jesus had arranged to meet them.

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

16 But the eleven disciples proceeded (P)to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.

16 The 11 disciples traveled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them.(L)

16 The eleven disciples went into Galilee to the hillside to which Jesus had directed them.

17 There they saw Him and prostrated themselves before Him. Yet some doubted.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but (Q)some were doubtful.

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped,(e) but some doubted.

17 When they saw him, they worshipped him, though some had doubts.

18 Jesus however came near and said to them, "All power in Heaven and over the earth has been given to me.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, (R)All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.(M)

18 Then Jesus approached them and told them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations; baptize them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

19 (e)(S)Go therefore and (T)make disciples of (U)all the nations, (V)baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

19 Go, therefore, and make disciples(N) of(f) all nations,(O) baptizing(P) them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

19 Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

20 and teach them to obey every command which I have given you. And remember, I am with you always, day by day, until the Close of the Age."

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, (W)I am with you (f)always, even to (X)the end of the age.”

20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,(g) I am with you always,(h) to the end of the age.”(Q)

20 teaching them to obey everything that I've commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age."
