but Herod, the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias, the wife of his brother, and concerning all the evils which Herod did,

Now there were in Antioch, in the assembly which was there, prophets and teachers; both Barnabas and Symeon who is called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen, the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Now Herod, the tetrarch, heard of all the things that were taking place; and he was thoroughly perplexed, because it was said by some that John was raised from the dead;

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus, and said to his servants,

For Herod, having laid hold of John, bound him, and put him in prison, because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

And the king Herod heard of Him, (for His name became famous), and he said, "John the Immerser has risen from the dead; and, because of this, the powers are working in Him."

And He was charging them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod."

In that very hour, there came certain Pharisees, saying to Him, "Go out, and journey hence; because Herod is wishing to kill Thee."

And, learning that He was of Herod's jurisdiction, he sent Him up to Herod, who also was in Jerusalem in these days.

And Herod with his soldiers, having set Him at naught, and having mocked Him, having thrown over Him a gorgeous robe, sent Him back to Pilate.
