These be the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun;


On the east side, toward the rising of the sun, shall they of the standard of the host of Judah pitch with their arms; and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain over the sons of Judah:

And next unto him shall the tribe of Issachar pitch; and Nethanel the son of Zuar captain over the children of Issachar:

even the standard of the host of Judah removed first with their armies, whose captain was Nahshon the son of Amminadab. And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar, was Nethanel the son of Zuar.


Among the children of Issachar, their generation, in their kindreds and houses of their fathers - when their names were counted, from twenty years and above, whatsoever was apt for war - were numbered in the tribe of Issachar fifty four thousand and four hundred.

And unto Zebulun he said, "Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out, and thou, Issachar, in thy tents. They shall call the people unto the hill, and there they shall offer offerings of righteousness. For they shall suck of the abundance of the sea and of treasure hid in the sand."


Issachar is a strong ass, he couched him down between two borders, and saw that rest was good and the land that it was pleasant, and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.


There was very much people out of Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun that were not clean, and therefore did eat Passover otherwise than writing specifieth. But Hezekiah prayed for them, and said,


The sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam and Shemuel which were heads in the ancient households of Tola and men of might among their kindreds: the number of them in the days of David were two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

And of their brethren among all the kindreds of Issachar were reckoned of men of war four score and seven thousand in all.


These are the kindreds of Issachar, in number sixty four thousand and three hundred.


The lords of Issachar were with Deborah. And as Barak, even so was Issachar sent into the valley afoot. But in the divisions of Reuben, were great imaginations of heart.
