Surely all the men who have seen My glory and My signs which I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to the test these ten times and have not listened to My voice,
Yet your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times; however, God did not allow him to hurt me.
Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water that we may drink.” And Moses said to them, “ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”
“These ten times you have insulted me; You are not ashamed to wrong me.
Therefore He swore to them That He would cast them down in the wilderness,
And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
These twenty years I have been in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flock, and you changed my wages ten times.

The Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst?
and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have walked until you came to this place.’
“When your fathers tested Me, They tried Me, though they had seen My work.
But craved intensely in the wilderness, And tempted God in the desert.
So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up but they also test God and escape.’”
Jesus said to him, “ On the other hand, it is written, ‘ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.
Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents.
Where your fathers tried Me by testing Me, And saw My works for forty years.
