The Assignment Of The Levites

5 The Lord spoke to Moses:

5 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

5 The LORD told Moses,

5 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

6 “Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him.

6 (E)Bring the tribe of Levi near and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.

6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them to Aaron the priest so they may serve him.

6 “Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them before Aaron the priest, so that they may serve him.

7 They are to perform duties for(a) him and the entire community before the tent of meeting by attending to the service of the tabernacle.

7 They shall perform the duties for (c)him and for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to do the (F)service of the tabernacle.

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

7 They are to take care of his needs and the needs of the whole congregation at the Tent of Meeting by performing duties at the tent.

7 They shall carry out the duties for him and for the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, doing the service of the tabernacle.

8 They are to take care of(b) all the furnishings of the tent of meeting(D) and perform duties for(c) the Israelites by attending to the service of the tabernacle.

8 They shall also keep all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, along with the duties of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 They are to take charge of the utensils at the Tent of Meeting and meet the needs of the Israelis by performing duties on behalf of the tent.

8 They shall also take care of all the furnishings and utensils of the Tent of Meeting, and [attend to] the duties of the Israelites, doing the service of the tabernacle.

9 Assign the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been assigned exclusively to him(d) from the Israelites.(E)

9 You shall thus (G)give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the sons of Israel.

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

9 Assign the descendants of Levi to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelis.

9 You shall give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons [as servants and helpers]; they are to be given wholly to him from among the Israelites.

10 You are to appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out their priestly responsibilities, but any unauthorized person who comes near the sanctuary must be put to death.”(F)

10 So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons that (H)they may keep their priesthood, but (I)the (d)layman who comes near shall be put to death.”

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

10 Appoint Aaron and his sons so that they are to take responsibility for their priesthood. Any unauthorized person who approaches it is to be put to death."

10 So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall observe and attend to their priesthood; but the layman (non-Levite) who approaches [the holy things] shall be put to death.”

11 The Lord spoke to Moses:

11 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

11 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

12 “See, I have taken the Levites from the Israelites in place of every firstborn Israelite from the womb.(G) The Levites belong to Me,

12 “Now, behold, I (J)have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of every (K)firstborn, the first issue of the womb among the sons of Israel. So the Levites shall be Mine.

12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

12 "I'm taking the descendants of Levi for myself from among the Israelis in place of every first-born who opens the womb. The descendants of Levi belong to me

12 “Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of and as a substitute for every firstborn, that is, the first that opens the womb among the Israelites. So the Levites shall be Mine,

13 because every firstborn belongs to Me. At the time I struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt,(H) I consecrated every firstborn in Israel to Myself, both man and animal. They are Mine; I am Yahweh.”(I)

13 For (L)all the firstborn are Mine; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, from man to beast. They shall be Mine; I am the Lord.”

13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.

13 because all the first-born belong to me. When I destroyed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated all the first-born in Israel for myself from human beings to livestock. They belong to me, since I am the LORD."

13 for all the firstborn are Mine. On the day that I killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal. They shall be mine; I am the Lord.”
