They went out into the field and gathered the grapes of their vineyards and trod them, and held a festival; and they went into the house of their god, and ate and drank and cursed Abimelech.

He spoke in the presence of his brothers and the wealthy men of Samaria and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore it for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish in a day? Can they revive the stones from the

dusty rubble even the burned ones?”

For we are greatly filled with contempt.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him.

And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:

No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?

When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable,
But he who restrains his lips is wise.

But certain

worthless men said, “How can this one deliver us?” And they despised him and did not bring him any present. But he kept silent.

But the people were silent and answered him not a word, for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.”

and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
