Go to the Emmet, thou sluggard: consider her ways, and learn to be wise.

For, as I have proved by experience, they that plow iniquity and sow wretchedness, reap the same.

Lo, this we ourselves have proved by experience, and even this it is. Hearken thou to it also, that thou mayest take heed to thyself."

"I will tell thee; hear me. I will show thee a thing, that I know;

I have been young, and now am old; and yet saw I never the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging their bread.

The righteous will consider this and rejoice; the mouth of all wickedness shall be stopped.

So I turned me, and considered all the violent wrong that is done under the Sun, and beheld the tears of such as were oppressed; and there was no man to comfort them or that would deliver and defend them from the violence of their oppressors.

These two things also have I considered in the time of vanity: that the just man perisheth for his righteousness' sake, and the ungodly liveth in his wickedness.

All these things have I considered, and applied my mind unto every work that is under the Sun: how one man hath lordship upon another to his own harm.
