My days are gone like a shadow, and I am withered like grass.

Man is like a thing of naught; his time passeth away like a shadow.

For we be but strangers before thee and tenants, as were all our fathers. Our days on the earth is but a shadow, and there is none abiding.

He cometh up and is cut down like a flower. He flyeth as it were a shadow, and never continueth in one state.

For who knoweth what is good for man living, in the days of his vain life, which is but a shadow? Or, who will tell a man what shall happen after him under the Sun?

Again, as for the ungodly, it shall not be well with him, neither shall he prolong his days: but even as a shadow, so shall he be that feareth not God.

and yet cannot tell what shall happen tomorrow. For what thing is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
