Refuge In The Lord

1 I take refuge in the LORD. So how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains."?

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.In the Lord I (A)take refuge;How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your (B)mountain;

1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

1 For the choir director. Davidic.I have taken refuge in the Lord.(A)How can you say to me,“Escape to the mountain like a bird!(a)(B)

1 In the Lord I take refuge [and put my trust];How can you say to me, “Flee like a bird to your mountain;

2 Look, the wicked have bent their bow and placed their arrow on the string, to shoot from the darkness at the upright in heart.

2 For, behold, the wicked (C)bend the bow,They (a)(D)make ready their arrow upon the stringTo (E)shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.

2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

2 For look, the wicked string the bow;they put the(b) arrow on the bowstringto shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.(C)

2 For look, the wicked are bending the bow;They take aim with their arrow on the stringTo shoot [by stealth] in darkness at the upright in heart.

3 When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

3 If the (F)foundations are destroyed,What can the righteous do?”

3 “If the foundations [of a godly society] are destroyed,What can the righteous do?”

4 The LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD's throne is in the heavens. His eyes see, his glance examines humanity.

4 The Lord is in His (G)holy temple; the (b)Lord’s (H)throne is in heaven;His (I)eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.

4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

4 The Lord is in His holy temple;(E)the Lord’s throne is in heaven.(F)His eyes watch; He examines(c) everyone.

5 The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence, he hates.

5 The Lord (J)tests the righteous and (K)the wicked,And the one who loves violence His soul hates.

5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

5 The Lord examines the righteous and the wicked.He hates the lover of violence.(G)

5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,And His soul hates the [malevolent] one who loves violence.(B)

6 He rains on the wicked burning coals and sulfur; a scorching wind is their destiny.

6 Upon the wicked He will (L)rain (c)snares;(M)Fire and brimstone and (N)burning wind will be the portion of (O)their cup.

6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

6 He will rain burning coals(d) and sulfur on the wicked;a scorching wind will be their portion.(e)(H)

6 Upon the wicked (godless) He will rain coals of fire;Fire and (a)brimstone and a dreadful scorching wind will be the portion of their cup [of doom].

7 Indeed, the LORD is righteous; he loves righteousness; the upright will see him face-to-face. To the Director: On an eight stringed harp. A Davidic Psalm.

7 For the Lord is (P)righteous, (Q)He loves (d)righteousness;The upright will (R)behold His face.

7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

7 For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds.The upright will see His face.(I)

7 For the Lord is [absolutely] righteous, He loves righteousness (virtue, morality, justice);The upright shall see His face.
