1 {To the Chanter, a Psalm of David} In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye then to my soul, that she should flee as a bird unto the hill?

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.In the Lord I ()take refuge;How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your ()mountain;

1 For the choir director. Davidic.I have taken refuge in the Lord.()How can you say to me,“Escape to the mountain like a bird!()()

1 I take refuge in the LORD. So how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains."?

2 For lo, the ungodly bend their bow, and make ready their arrows within the quiver, that they may privily shoot at them which are true of heart.

2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

2 For, behold, the wicked ()bend the bow,They ()()make ready their arrow upon the stringTo ()shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.

2 For look, the wicked string the bow;they put the() arrow on the bowstringto shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.()

2 Look, the wicked have bent their bow and placed their arrow on the string, to shoot from the darkness at the upright in heart.

3 For the foundations will be cast down, and what hath the righteous done?

3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's seat is in heaven. His eyes consider the poor, and his eyelids try the children of men.

4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

5 The LORD alloweth the righteous; but the ungodly, and him that delighteth in wickedness, doth his soul abhor.

5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

6 Upon the ungodly he shall rain snares, fire, brimstone, storm and tempest: this shall be their portion to drink.

6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

7 For the LORD is righteous, and he loveth righteousness: his countenance will behold the thing that is just.

7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

7 For the Lord is ()righteous, ()He loves ()righteousness;The upright will ()behold His face.

7 For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds.The upright will see His face.()

7 Indeed, the LORD is righteous; he loves righteousness; the upright will see him face-to-face. To the Director: On an eight stringed harp. A Davidic Psalm.
