The Priestly King

1 A psalm of David. Here is the Lord's proclamation to my lord: "Sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool!"

1 {A Psalm of David.} The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

1 A Davidic psalm.This is the declaration of the Lordto my Lord:“Sit at My right handuntil I make Your enemies Your footstool.”(A)

1 A declaration from the LORD to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool."

2 The Lord extends your dominion from Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies!

2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

2 The Lord will stretch forth Your strong (D)scepter from Zion, saying,(E)Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”

2 The Lord will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion.Rule(a) over Your surrounding(b) enemies.(B)

2 When the LORD extends your mighty scepter from Zion, rule in the midst of your enemies.

3 Your people willingly follow you when you go into battle. On the holy hills at sunrise the dew of your youth belongs to you.

3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

3 Your (F)people (a)will volunteer freely in the day of Your (b)power;(G)In (c)holy array, from the womb of the dawn,(d)Your youth are to You as the (H)dew.

3 Your people will volunteeron Your day of battle.(c)(C)In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,the dew of Your youth belongs to You.(d)(D)

3 Your soldiers are willing volunteers on your day of battle; in majestic holiness, from the womb, from the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to you.

4 The Lord makes this promise on oath and will not revoke it: "You are an eternal priest after the pattern of Melchizedek."

4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

4 (I)The Lord has sworn and will (J)not (e)change His mind,“You are a (K)priest foreverAccording to the order of Melchizedek.”

4 The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back:“Forever, You are a priestlike Melchizedek.”(E)

4 The LORD took an oath and will never recant: "You are a priest forever, after the manner of Melchizedek."

5 O sovereign Lord, at your right hand he strikes down kings in the day he unleashes his anger.

5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

5 The Lord is (L)at Your right hand;He (f)will (M)shatter kings in the (N)day of His wrath.

5 The Lord is at Your right hand;He will crush kings on the day of His anger.(F)

5 The Lord is at your right hand; he will utterly destroy kings in the time of his wrath.

6 He executes judgment against the nations; he fills the valleys with corpses; he shatters their heads over the vast battlefield.

6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

6 He will (O)judge among the nations,He (g)will fill them with (P)corpses,He (h)will (Q)shatter the (i)chief men over a broad country.

6 He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses;(G)He will crush leaders over the entire world.(H)

6 He will execute judgment against the nations, filling graves with corpses. He will utterly destroy leaders far and wide.

7 From the stream along the road he drinks; then he lifts up his head.

7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

7 He will (R)drink from the brook by the wayside;Therefore He will (S)lift up His head.

7 He will drink from the brook by the road;(I)therefore, He will lift up His head.(J)

7 He will drink from a stream on the way, then hold his head high.
