1 LORD, remember in David's favor all of his troubles;

1 A Song of Ascents.Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf,All (A)his affliction;

1 O Lord, remember on David’s behalfAll his hardship and affliction;

2 how he swore an oath to the LORD, vowing to the Mighty One of Jacob,

2 How he swore to the LordAnd vowed to (B)the Mighty One of Jacob,

2 How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

3 "I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed,

3 “Surely I will not (a)enter (C)my house,Nor (b)lie on my bed;

3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

3 “I absolutely will not enter my house,Nor get into my bed—

4 or let myself go to sleep or even take a nap,

4 I will not (D)give sleep to my eyesOr slumber to my eyelids,

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

4 I will not allow my eyes to sleepor my eyelids to slumber(C)

4 I certainly will not permit my eyes to sleepNor my eyelids to slumber,

5 until I locate a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."

7 Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool.

7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

8 Arise, LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.

9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness and may your godly ones shout for joy.

11 The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne.

11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,a promise He will not abandon:“I will set one of your descendants(f)on your throne.(K)

11 The Lord swore to DavidA truth from which He will not turn back:“One of your (a)descendants I will set upon your throne.(C)

12 If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever."

12 “If your sons will keep My covenantAnd My testimony which I will teach them,Their sons also shall (T)sit upon your throne forever.”

12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, desiring it as his dwelling place.

13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

14 "This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, because I desire to do so.

16 I will clothe its priests with salvation and its godly ones will shout for joy.
