God Our Refuge

1 God is our harbour and our strength, a very present help in trouble.

1 God is our refuge and strength, a great help in times of distress.

2 For this cause we will have no fear, even though the earth is changed, and though the mountains are moved in the heart of the sea;

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

2 Therefore we will (D)not fear, though (E)the earth should changeAnd though (F)the mountains slip into the heart of the (d)sea;

2 Therefore we will not be afraid,though the earth tremblesand the mountains toppleinto the depths of the seas,(C)

2 Therefore we will not be frightened when the earth roars, when the mountains shake in the depths of the seas,

3 Though its waters are sounding and troubled, and though the mountains are shaking with their violent motion. (Selah.)

5 God has taken his place in her; she will not be moved: he will come to her help at the dawn of morning.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The nations were angry, the kingdoms were moved; at the sound of his voice the earth became like wax.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

8 Come, see the works of the Lord, the destruction which he has made in the earth.

8 Come, observe the mighty works of the LORD, who causes desolation in the earth.

9 He puts an end to wars over all the earth; by him the bow is broken, and the spear cut in two, and the carriage burned in the fire.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

9 He (T)makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;He (U)breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;He (V)burns the chariots with fire.

9 He makes wars cease throughout the earth.He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;He burns up the chariots.(b)(J)

9 He causes wars to cease all over the earth, he causes the bow to break, the spear to snap, the chariots to ignite and burn.

10 Be at peace in the knowledge that I am God: I will be lifted up among the nations, I will be honoured through all the earth.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

10 (j)Cease striving and (W)know that I am God;I will be (X)exalted among the (k)nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

10 “Stop your fighting—and know that I am God,exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”(K)

10 Be in awe and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted throughout the earth.
