A Cry Against Injustice

11 Do you indeed speak righteousness, O gods? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?

11 {To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David.} Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

11 Do you really speak righteously, you mighty ones? Do you judge people fairly?

11 How is it that by remaining silent you can speak righteously? How can you judge people fairly?

11 Do you indeed in silence speak righteousness, O you mighty ones? [Or is the righteousness, rightness, and justice you should speak quite dumb?] Do you judge fairly and uprightly, O you sons of men?

22 No, in heart you work unrighteousness; On earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.

22 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

22 No, you practice injustice in your hearts; with your hands you weigh out violence in the land.

22 As a matter of fact, in your heart you plan iniquities! In the land your hands are violent!

22 No, in your heart you devise wickedness; you deal out in the land the violence of your hands.

33 The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.

33 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

33 The wicked go astray from the womb; liars err from birth.

33 The wicked go astray from the womb; they go astray, telling lies even from birth.

33 The ungodly are perverse and estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

44 They have venom like the venom of a serpent; Like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear,

44 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

44 They have venom like the venom of a snake, like the deaf cobra that stops up its ears,

44 Their venom is like a poisonous snake; even like a deaf serpent that shuts its ears,

44 Their poison is like the venom of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder or asp that stops its ear,

55 So that it does not hear the voice of charmers, Or a skillful caster of spells.

55 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

55 that does not listen to the sound of the charmers who skillfully weave spells.

55 refusing to hear the voice of the snake charmer, the cunning enchanter.

55 Which listens not to the voice of charmers or of the enchanter never casting spells so cunningly.

66 O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth; Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD.

66 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

66 God, knock the teeth out of their mouths; Lord, tear out the young lions' fangs.

66 God, shatter their teeth in their mouths; LORD, break the fangs of the young lions!

66 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouths; break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord.

77 Let them flow away like water that runs off; When he aims his arrows, let them be as headless shafts.

77 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

77 They will vanish like water that flows by; they will aim their useless arrows.

77 May they flow away like rain water that runs off, may they become like someone who shoots broken arrows.

77 Let them melt away as water which runs on apace; when he aims his arrows, let them be as if they were headless or split apart.

88 Let them be as a snail which melts away as it goes along, Like the miscarriages of a woman which never see the sun.

88 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

88 Like a slug that moves along in slime, like a woman's miscarried [child], they will not see the sun.

88 May they be like a snail that dries up as it crawls; like a woman's stillborn baby, who never saw the sun.

88 Let them be as a snail dissolving slime as it passes on or as a festering sore which wastes away, like [the child to which] a woman gives untimely birth that has not seen the sun.

99 Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.

99 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

99 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns- whether green or burning- He will sweep them away.

99 Before your clay pots are placed on a fire of burning thorns whether green or ablaze wrath will sweep them away like a storm.

99 Before your pots can feel the thorns [that are placed under them for fuel], He will take them away as with a whirlwind, the green and the burning ones alike.

1010 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

1010 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

1010 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the retribution; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

1010 The righteous person will rejoice when he sees your vengeance; when he washes his feet in the blood of the wicked.

1010 The [unyieldingly] righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.

1111 And men will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!"

1111 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

1111 Then people will say, "Yes, there is a reward for the righteous! There is a God who judges on earth!"

1111 A person will say, "Certainly, the righteous are rewarded; certainly there is a God who judges the earth." To the Director: A special Davidic psalm to the tune of "Do Not Destroy," when Saul sent men to watch the house in order to kill him.

1111 Men will say, Surely there is a reward for the [uncompromisingly] righteous; surely there is a God Who judges on the earth.
