{An Instruction of Asaph} O God, wherefore doest thou cast us so clean away? Why is thy wrath so hot against the sheep of thy pasture?

"And so the LORD will not be merciful unto him, but then the wrath of the LORD and his jealousy, smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book light upon him, and the LORD do out his name from under heaven,

So we, that be the people and sheep of thy pasture, shall give thee thanks forever, and will always be showing forth thy praise, from generation to generation.

For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hands.

Be ye sure, that the LORD he is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are but his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

But now thou art far off, and puttest us to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.

Will the LORD absent himself forever? Will he be no more intreated?

Woe be unto the shepherds, that destroy and scatter my flock," sayeth the LORD.

Ye men are my flock; ye are the sheep of my pasture: and I am your God, sayeth the LORD God.'"

Why standest thou so far off, O LORD, and hidest thy face in the needful time of trouble?

There went a smoke out in his presence, and a consuming fire out of his mouth, so that coals were kindled at it. {TYNDALE: Smoke went up out of his nostrils, and consuming fire out of his mouth, that coals were kindled of him.}

I will say unto God my strength, "Why hast thou forgotten me? Why go I thus heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?"

Why art thou so vexed, O my soul, and why art thou so disquieted within me? O put thy trust in God; for I will yet thank him, which is the help of my countenance, and my God.

{To the chanter, upon the rose of witness, Michtam of David, for to teach: when he fought against Mesopotamia, and Syria of Zoba: and when Joab turned back, and slew twelve thousand Edomites in the valley of Salt} O God, thou hast cast us out and scattered us abroad; thou that hast been so sore displeased at us, comfort us again.

Shall not thou do it, O God, thou that hast cast us out? Wilt not thou, O God, go out with our hosts?

LORD, how long wilt thou be angry? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire forever?

Moreover, thus sayeth the LORD: like as the heaven above cannot be measured, and as the foundations of the earth beneath may not be sought out; So will I also not cast out the whole seed of Israel, for that they have committed, sayeth the LORD.

"Considerest thou not what this people speaketh? 'Two kindreds,' say they, 'had the LORD chosen, and those same two hath he cast away.' For so far is my people come, that they have no hope to come together any more, and to be one people again.

Thus sayeth the LORD God: As truly as I live, forsomuch as my sheep are robbed, and devoured of all the wild beasts of the field, having no shepherd: and seeing that my shepherds take no regard of my sheep, but feed themselves only, and not my sheep:

Fear not little flock, for it is your father's pleasure, to give you a kingdom.

but ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. As I said unto you,

I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For even I verily am an Israelite of the seed of Abraham, and of the tribe of Benjamin;
