1 {To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.} O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

1 For the choir director: on the Gittith.(A) A Davidic psalm.Yahweh, our Lord,how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth!(B)You have covered the heavens with Your majesty.(a)(C)

1 LORD, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth! You set your glory above the heavens!

1 O Lord, our Lord,How majestic and glorious and excellent is Your name in all the earth!You have displayed Your splendor above the heavens.

2 (B)From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established (b)(C)strengthBecause of Your adversaries,To make (D)the enemy and the revengeful cease.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

2 Because of Your adversaries,You have established a stronghold(b)from the mouths of children and nursing infants(D)to silence the enemy and the avenger.

2 Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have established strength on account of your adversaries, in order to silence the enemy and vengeful foe.

2 Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babes You have established strengthBecause of Your adversaries,That You might silence the enemy and make the revengeful cease.(A)

3 When I (c)(E)consider (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,The (G)moon and the stars, which You have (d)ordained;

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

3 When I observe Your heavens,the work of Your fingers,the moon and the stars,which You set in place,(E)

3 When I look at the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you established

3 When I see and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,The moon and the stars, which You have established,

4 (H)What is man that You (e)take thought of him,And the son of man that You care for him?

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

4 what is man that You remember him,the son of man that You look after him?(F)

4 what is man that you take notice of him, or the son of man that you pay attention to him?

4 What is man that You are mindful of him,And the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?

5 Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than (f)God,And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

5 You made him little less than God(c)(d)and crowned him with glory and honor.

5 You made him a little less than divine, but you crowned him with glory and honor.

5 Yet You have made him a little lower than (a)God,And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You make him to (L)rule over the works of Your hands;You have (M)put all things under his feet,

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

6 You made him lord over the works of Your hands;You put everything under his feet:(e)(G)

6 You gave him dominion over the work of your hands, you put all things under his feet:

6 You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;You have put all things under his feet,(B)

7 All sheep and oxen,And also the (g)beasts of the field,

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

7 all the sheep and oxen,as well as the animals in the wild,

7 Sheep and cattle all of them, wild creatures of the field,

7 All sheep and oxen,And also the beasts of the field,

8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

8 the birds of the sky,and the fish of the seathat pass through the currents of the seas.(H)

8 birds in the sky, fish in the sea whatever moves through the currents of the oceans.

8 The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

9 (N)O Lord, our Lord,How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

9 Yahweh, our Lord,how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth!
