Paradise Restored

1 And he shewed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, going out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

1 Then (A)he showed me a (B)river of the (C)water of life, (a)clear (D)as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of (b)the Lamb,

1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

1 Then he showed me the river(a) of living water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb(A)

1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. It was flowing from the throne of God and the lamb.

2 In the midst of its street, and of the river, on this side and on that side, the tree of life, producing twelve fruits, in each month yielding its fruit; and the leaves of the tree for healing of the nations.

2 in the middle of (E)its street. (F)On either side of the river was (G)the tree of life, bearing twelve (c)kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

2 down the middle of the broad street of the city. The tree of life(b) was on both sides of the river, bearing 12 kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month.(B) The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations,

2 Between the city street and the river, the tree of life was visible from each side. It produced twelve kinds of fruit, each month having its own fruit. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

3 And no curse shall be any more; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him,

3 (H)There will no longer be any curse; and (I)the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will (J)serve Him;

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4 and they shall see his face; and his name is on their foreheads.

5 And night shall not be any more, and no need of a lamp, and light of the sun; for the Lord God shall shine upon them, and they shall reign to the ages of ages.

5 And (N)there will no longer be any night; and they (d)will not have need (O)of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will (P)reign forever and ever.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

5 Night will no longer exist,(F) and people will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.

5 There will be no more night, and they will not need any light from lamps or the sun because the Lord God will shine on them. They will rule forever and ever.

The Time Of Fulfillment Is Near

6 And he said to me, These words are faithful and true; and the Lord God of the spirits of the prophets has sent his angel to shew to his bondmen the things which must soon come to pass.

6 And (Q)he said to me, “(R)These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the (S)God of the spirits of the prophets, (T)sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place.

6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

6 Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.(G) And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets,(d) has sent His angel to show His slaves what must quickly take place.”(e)(H)

6 He told me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord God of the spirits and of the prophets has sent his messenger to show his servants the things that must happen soon."

7 And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.

7 “And behold, (U)I am coming quickly. (V)Blessed is he who (e)heeds (W)the words of the prophecy of this book.”

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

7 “Look, I am coming quickly!(I) The one who keeps the prophetic words of this book is blessed.”(J)

7 "See! I am coming soon! How blessed is the person who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book!"

8 And I, John, was he who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to do homage before the feet of the angel who shewed me these things.

8 (X)I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, (Y)I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown them to me.

8 I, John, heard and saw these things. When I had heard and seen them, I bowed down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things.

9 And he says to me, See thou do it not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and the fellow-bondman of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Do homage to God.

9 But (Z)he *said to me, “Do not do that. I am a (AA)fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who (f)heed the words of (AB)this book. Worship God.”

9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

9 But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow slave with you, your brothers the prophets, and those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”(K)

9 But he told me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you, your brothers the prophets, and those who keep the words in this book. Worship God!"

10 And he says to me, Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book. The time is near.

10 And he *said to me, “(AC)Do not seal up (AD)the words of the prophecy of this book, (AE)for the time is near.

10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

10 He also said to me, “Don’t seal the prophetic words of this book, because the time is near.(L)

10 Then he told me, "Don't seal up the words of the prophecy in this book, because the time is near.

11 Let him that does unrighteously do unrighteously still; and let the filthy make himself filthy still; and let him that is righteous practise righteousness still; and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still.

11 (AF)Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.”

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

11 Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy go on being made filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; and let the holy go on being made holy.”(M)

11 Let the one who does what is evil continue to do what is evil. Let the filthy person continue to be filthy. Let the righteous person continue to do what is right. And let the holy person continue to be holy."

Epilogue: Invitation And Warning

12 Behold, I come quickly, and my reward with me, to render to every one as his work shall be.

12 “Behold, (AG)I am coming quickly, and My (AH)reward is with Me, (AI)to render to every man (g)according to what he has done.

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

12 “Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me(N) to repay each person according to what he has done.(O)

12 "See! I am coming soon! My reward is with me to repay everyone according to his behavior.

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

13 I am the (AJ)Alpha and the Omega, (AK)the first and the last, (AL)the beginning and the end.”

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega,(P) the First and the Last,(Q) the Beginning and the End.(R)

14 Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and that they should go in by the gates into the city.

14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15 Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie.

15 (AQ)Outside are the (AR)dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.(T)

15 Outside are dogs, sorcerers, immoral people, murderers, idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify these things to you in the assemblies. I am the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star.

16 (AS)I, Jesus, have sent (AT)My angel to testify to you these things (h)(AU)for the churches. I am (AV)the root and the (AW)descendant of David, the bright (AX)morning star.”

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to attest these things to you(g) for the churches. I am the Root(U) and the Offspring of David,(V) the Bright Morning Star.”(W)

16 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give this testimony to you for the churches. I am the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star."

An Invitation To Respond

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come; he that will, let him take the water of life freely.

17 The (AY)Spirit and the (AZ)bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And (BA)let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the (BB)water of life without cost.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

17 Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Anyone who hears should say, “Come!” And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift.(X)

17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" Let everyone who hears this say, "Come!" Let everyone who is thirsty come! Let anyone who wants the water of life take it as a gift!

A Final Warning

18 I testify to every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any one shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book.

18 I testify to everyone who hears (BC)the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone (BD)adds to them, God will add to him (BE)the plagues which are written in (BF)this book;

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy in this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will strike him with the plagues that are written in this book.

19 And if any one take from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

19 and if anyone (BG)takes away from the (BH)words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from (BI)the tree of life and (i)from the holy city, (BJ)which are written in this book.

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book.(Y)

19 If anyone takes away any words from the book of this prophecy, God will take away his portion of the tree of life and the holy city that are described in this book.

20 He that testifies these things says, Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus.

20 He who (BK)testifies to these things says, “Yes, (BL)I am coming quickly.” Amen. (BM)Come, Lord Jesus.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

20 He who testifies about these things(Z) says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!(AA)

20 The one who is testifying to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon!" Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with all the saints.
