The Letter To The Church In Sardis

1 And, unto the messenger of the assembly, in Sardis, write: - These things, saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, - that, a name, thou hast, that thou art living, and art, dead.

1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

1 “To the angel of the church in (A)Sardis write:He who has (B)the seven Spirits of God and (C)the seven stars, says this: ‘(D)I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, (a)but you are (E)dead.

1 “Write to the angel of the church in Sardis:“The One who has the seven spirits of God(A) and the seven stars says: I know your works; you have a reputation(a) for being alive, but you are dead.

1 "To the messenger of the church in Sardis, write: "The one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says this:

2 Become thou watchful, and strengthen the things that remain, that were about to die; for I have not found thy works fulfilled before my God.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.

2 Be alert and strengthen(b) what remains, which is about to die, for I have not found your works complete before My God.

2 "I know what you've been doing. You are known for being alive, but you are dead. Be alert, and strengthen the things that are left, which are about to die. I note that your actions are incomplete before my God.

3 Remember, therefore, how thou hast received, and didst hear, and keep it and repent. If then thou shall not watch, I will have come as a thief, and in nowise shalt thou get to know, during what sort of hour, I will have come upon thee.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

3 So (F)remember (b)what you have received and heard; and keep it, and (G)repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, (H)I will come (I)like a thief, and you will not know at (J)what hour I will come to you.

3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come(c) like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.(d)

3 So remember what you received and heard. Obey it, and repent. If you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you won't know the time when I will come to you.

4 Nevertheless, thou hast a few names, in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, because they are, worthy.

4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

4 But you have a few (c)(K)people in (L)Sardis who have not (M)soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me (N)in white, for they are worthy.

4 But you have a few people(e) in Sardis who have not defiled(f) their clothes, and they will walk with Me in white, because they are worthy.

4 But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me in white clothes because they are worthy.

5 He that overcometh, shall, thus, array himself in white garments, and in nowise will I blot out his name, from the book of life; and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his messengers.

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

5 (O)He who overcomes will thus be clothed in (P)white garments; and I will not (Q)erase his name from the book of life, and (R)I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

5 In the same way, the victor will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the book of life(B) but will acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels.

5 The person who conquers in this way will wear white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the Book of Life. I will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and his angels.

The Letter To The Church In Philadelphia

6 And, unto the messenger of the assembly, in Philadelphia, write: - These things, saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth and no one shall shut, and shutteth and no one openeth:

6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

6 (S)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

6 “Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

6 "Let everyone listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.'"

7 I know thy works, - lo! I have set before thee an open door, as to which, no one, can shut it, - that thou hast, a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

7 “And to the angel of the church in (T)Philadelphia write:(U)He who is holy, (V)who is true, who has (W)the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:

7 “Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia:“The Holy One, the True One, the One who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and closes and no one opens(C) says:

7 "To the messenger of the church in Philadelphia, write: "The one who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens a door that no one can shut, and who shuts a door that no one can open, "says this:

8 Lo! I give them of the synagogue of Satan, who are affirming themselves to be, Jews, and are not, - but say what is false, - lo! I will cause them, that they shall have come, and shall bow down before thy feet, and shall get to know that, I, loved thee.

8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

8 (X)I know your (d)deeds. Behold, I have put before you (Y)an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and (Z)have not denied My name.

8 I know your works. Because you have limited strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name, look, I have placed before you an open door that no one is able to close.

8 "I know what you've been doing. Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut. You have only a little strength, but you have obeyed my word and have not denied my name.

9 Because thou didst keep my word of endurance, I also, will keep thee out of the hour of trial, which is about to come upon the whole habitable world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

9 Behold, I (e)will cause those of (AA)the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—I will make them (AB)come and bow down (f)at your feet, and make them know that (AC)I have loved you.

9 Take note! I will make those from the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews and are not, but are lying—note this—I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and they will know that I have loved you.(D)

9 I will make those who belong to the synagogue of Satan those who claim to be Jews and aren't, but are lying come and bow down at your feet. Then they will realize that I have loved you.

10 I come quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that, no one, take thy crown.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

10 Because you have (AD)kept the word of (AE)My (g)perseverance, (AF)I also will keep you from the hour of (h)(AG)testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole (i)(AH)world, to (j)test (AI)those who dwell on the earth.

10 Because you have kept My command to endure,(g) I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come over the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

10 Because you have obeyed my command to endure, I will keep you from the hour of testing that is coming to the whole world to test those living on the earth.

11 He that overcometh, I will make, him, a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, and, outside, shall he in nowise go forth any more; and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and I will write upon him my new name.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

11 (AJ)I am coming quickly; (AK)hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your (AL)crown.

11 I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have,(E) so that no one takes your crown.

11 I am coming soon! Hold on to what you have so that no one takes your victor's crown.

The Letter To The Church In Laodicea

12 And, unto the messenger of the assembly, in Laodicea, write: - These things, saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness the beginning of the creation of God:

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

12 (AM)He who overcomes, I will make him a (AN)pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the (AO)name of My God, and (AP)the name of the city of My God, (AQ)the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My (AR)new name.

12 The victor: I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of My God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God—the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God—and My new name.(F)

12 I will make the one who conquers to become a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, and he will never go out of it again. I will write on him the name of my God, the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God), and my own new name.

13 I know thy works; - that neither, cold, art thou, nor hot: I would that, cold, thou hadst been, or hot.

13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

13 (AS)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

13 “Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

13 "Let everyone listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.'"

14 Thus, because, lukewarm, thou art, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to vomit thee out of my mouth.

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

14 “To the angel of the church in (AT)Laodicea write:(AU)The Amen, (AV)the faithful and true Witness, (AW)the (k)Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

14 “Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea:“The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Originator(h)(G) of God’s creation says:

14 "To the messenger of the church in Laodicea, write: "The Amen, the witness who is faithful and true, the originator of God's creation, says this:

15 Because thou sayest, Rich, am I, and have become enriched, and, of nothing, have I need, and knowest not that, thou, art the wretched one, and pitiable, and destitute, and blind, and naked,

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

15 (AX)I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; (AY)I wish that you were cold or hot.

15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot.

15 "I know your actions, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.

16 I counsel thee to buy of me, gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich, - and white raiment, that thou mayest array thyself, and, the shame of thy nakedness, may not be made manifest, - and eye-salve, to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will (l)spit you out of My mouth.

16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit(i) you out of My mouth.

16 Since you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth.

17 I, as many as I tenderly love, I convict and put under discipline: be zealous, therefore, and repent.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

17 Because you say, “(AZ)I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

17 Because you say, ‘I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked,

17 You say, "I am rich. I have become wealthy. I don't need anything." Yet you don't realize that you are miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

18 Lo! I am standing at the door, and knocking; if anyone shall hearken unto my voice, and open the door, I will come in unto him, and will sup with him, and, he, with, me.

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

18 I advise you to (BA)buy from Me (BB)gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and (BC)white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that (BD)the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.

18 Therefore, I advise you to buy from me gold purified in fire so you may be rich, white clothes to wear so your shameful nakedness won't show, and ointment to put on your eyes so you may see.

19 He that overcometh, I will give, unto him, to take his seat with me in my throne, as, I also, overcame, and took my seat with my Father in his throne.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

19 (BE)Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and (BF)repent.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed(j) and repent.

19 I correct and discipline those whom I love, so be serious and repent!
