How, then, shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel: for it is the power of God in order to salvation, to every one that believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

For the preaching of the cross is to those who perish, foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God.

since we heard of your faithfulness in Christ Jesus, and your love for all the saints,

For this reason, also, we thank God without ceasing; be cause, when you received the word of God, as preached by us, you embraced it, not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works in you that believe.

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God did, from the beginning, choose you to salvation, by sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth,

Of his own will, he begot us with the word of truth, in order that we might be, as it were, the first-fruits of his creatures.

having been begotten again, not with corruptible seed, but with incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,

And hearing

And he said to them: Take heed how you hear; with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you; and to you that hear, more shall be given;

But the meaning of the parable is this: The seed is the word of God;

And he said: Yes, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

For we do not, as the many, adulterate the word of God; but, as from sincerity, but, as from God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, and pierces even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I John, your brother and companion in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island called Patmos, on account of the word of God, and on account of the testimony of Jesus Christ.
