Then he said to them, "This is what I told you when I was still with you??hat everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must come true."

And just as Moses in the desert lifted the serpent up in the air, the Son of Man must be lifted up,

For if you really believed Moses, you would believe me, for it was about me that he wrote.

To this day I have had God's help and I stand here to testify to high and low alike, without adding a thing to what Moses and the prophets declared would happen,

For while the Law foreshadowed the blessings that were to come, it did not fully express them, and so the priests by offering the same sacrifices endlessly year after year cannot wholly free those who come to worship from their sins.

which he promised long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,

Yet he must remain in heaven till the time for the universal reformation of which God told in ancient times by the lips of his holy prophets.

So they fixed a day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying, and from morning till night he explained to them the Kingdom of God and gave his testimony, trying to convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets.

The Scripture foresaw that God would accept the heathen as upright in consequence of their faith, and preached the good news in advance to Abraham in the words, "All the heathen will be blessed through you."

About this salvation the prophets who prophesied of the blessing that was destined for you made the most careful investigation,
