Romans 5:13

For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

And the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;

Every one that commits sin commits also wickedness, and sin is wickedness.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers; he that loves not, continues in death.
