Romans 5:7

For hardly, in deed, will one die for a just man; yet, perhaps, for the good man some one would even dare to die.

Greater love has no man than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.

who, for my life, laid down their own necks; to whom not only do I give thanks, but all the churches of the Gentiles:

By this we know the love of Christ, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
