Be ye rooted and grounded in social virtue, that you may be able to comprehend with all saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of this mystery:

Height

that adversary that exalts it self above the divine authority of majesty: that is seated in the temple of God, pretending to be it self divine.

Then I saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads, and ten horns; upon his horns were ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Depth

O the depth of the divine goodness, wisdom, and contrivance! how impenetrable are his decrees, and his ways past finding out!

for there shall arise false Messiahs, and false prophets, and shall shew such astonishing miracles and prodigies, as to deceive, if that can do it, the very converts themselves.

witness) lest satan should have got some advantage of us: for we are apprized of his artifices.

but I fear lest by some means or other, as Eve was beguiled by the subtilly of the serpent, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is due to Christ.

who by the instigation of satan will make his parade with various arts, with fallacious signs and prodigies,

Shall be

it is I that give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any one force them out of my hand.

for you are dead to them, and Christ has secured your life with God.

Love

what shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or penury, or peril, or sword?

but herein hath God displayed his love towards us, in that Christ died for us, even while we were yet sinners.

for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

for the father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I had my mission from God.

to them I have declared thy name, and will declare it: that thou mayst love them as thou hast loved me, and I have loved them."

according as he had chosen us in himself before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy, free from vice, and devoted to virtue.

then it was that God, who is rich in mercy, thro' his great love, wherewith he loved us,

but when the kindness and love of God our saviour display'd itself to mankind,

by this was the love of God displayed towards us, in that God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live thro' him.
