So then, brothers we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh (human nature),

That which is born from the flesh is flesh and that which is born from the Spirit is spirit.

As is the earthy so are those who are of the earth. And as is the heavenly, so are those who are of heaven.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

This is primarily for those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble at glorious ones but speak abusively.

Mind

The mind of sinful flesh (fleshly thought) means death; but the mind influenced by the Spirit gives life and peace.

He turned around and looked at his disciples. Then he rebuked Peter saying: Get behind me Satan for you do not pay attention to the things of God. You tend to the things of men.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to him! He cannot know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Many live as enemies of the stake of Christ. I often wept as I told you about them.

Of the spirit

But you are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God's Spirit dwells in you. If any one does not have the Spirit of Christ he does not belong to him.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

for the fruit of the light (life) (spirit) consists of all goodness and righteousness and truth.

If you have been raised together with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
