Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
For He says to Moses, “
I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
What then? What
Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
The Lord said to Moses, “When you go
back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.
Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said.
Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing for us to pass through his land; for the Lord your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to deliver him into your hand, as he is today.
For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Why, O Lord, do You cause us to stray from Your ways
harden our heart from fearing You? Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.
In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘; You will keep on hearing, but will not understand You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
Go to this people and say,
You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;
you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
2 Thessalonians 2:10
all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go.
