Zechariah's Fifth Vision

1 And the angel that talked with me came again and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

1 Then (A)the angel who was speaking with me returned and (B)roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep.

1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

1 The angel who was speaking with me then returned and roused me as one awakened out of sleep.

1 Then the angel who had been speaking with me returned and woke me up as if I had been asleep.

2 and said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked and behold a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps upon the lampstand, and seven pipes for the lamps, which are upon the top thereof:

2 He said to me, “(C)What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a (D)lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its (E)seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it;

2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:

2 He asked me, “What do you see?”I replied, “I see a solid gold lampstand there with a bowl on its top. It has seven lamps on it and seven channels for each of(a) the lamps on its top.

2 Then he asked me, "What do you see?"

3 and two olive trees over it, one upon the right hand side of the bowl and the other upon the left hand side thereof.

3 also (F)two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.”

3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

3 There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.”

3 So I said, "I have been watching and look! there is a menorah made completely of gold with a bowl on top of it. And there are seven lights on it, along with seven feeder channels to the lamps, which are also on top of it. Two olive trees are near it, one on the right side of the bowl and one on the left."

4 So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What is this, my lord?

4 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, “What are these, (G)my lord?”

4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

4 Then I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”

4 Then I asked the angel who had been speaking with me, "Sir, what are these?"

5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Dost thou not know what this is? And I said, No, my lord.

5 So (H)the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “(I)Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

5 “Don’t you know what they are?” replied the angel who was speaking with me.I said, “No, my lord.”

5 The angel who had been speaking with me answered by asking, "You don't know what these mean, do you?" So I responded, "No, sir."

God's Promise To Zerubbabel

6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, said the LORD of the hosts.

6 Then he (a)said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to (J)Zerubbabel saying, ‘(K)Not by might nor by power, but by My (L)Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.

6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

6 So he answered me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by strength or by might, but by My Spirit,’(A) says the Lord of Hosts.

6 Then he replied to me, "This is this message from the LORD to Zerubbabel: "Not by valor nor by strength, but only by my Spirit,' says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.

7 Who art thou, O great mountain before Zerubbabel? Thou shalt be reduced to a plain; and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

7 ‘What are you, O great (M)mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with (N)shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”

7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

7 ‘What are you, great mountain?(B) Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain.(C) And he will bring out the capstone accompanied by shouts of: Grace, grace to it!’”

7 "Who are you, great mountain? You will become a plain in Zerubbabel's presence, and he will position the capstone, exulting over it, "How beautiful! How beautiful!"'"

8 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

8 Also the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

8 Then the word of the Lord came to me:(D)

8 Then this message from the LORD came to me again:

9 The hands of Zerubbabel shall lay the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of the hosts has sent me unto you.

9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have (O)laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will (P)finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to (b)you.

9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

9 “Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the foundation of this house,(E) and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me to you.

9 "Zerubbabel's hands have laid the foundation of this Temple, and his hands will finish it, so that you will know that the LORD of the Heavenly Armies has sent me to all of you.

10 For who has despised the day of small beginnings? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. Those seven are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

10 For who has despised the day of (Q)small things? (c)But these (R)seven will be glad when they see the (d)(S)plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the (T)eyes of the Lord which (U)range to and fro throughout the earth.”

10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

10 For who scorns the day of small things?(F) These seven eyes of the Lord, which scan throughout the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the plumb line(b) in Zerubbabel’s hand.”(G)

10 For who has despised the time of insignificant things? They will rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven lights represent the eyes of the LORD, which are looking throughout all of the earth."

11 Then I spoke and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right hand side of the lampstand and upon the left hand side thereof?

11 Then I said to him, “What are these (V)two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left?”

11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

11 I asked him, “What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?”

11 Then I asked the angel, "What are these two olive trees, one on the right of the menorah and one on the left?"

12 And I spoke the second time and said unto him, What are these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

12 And I answered the second time and said to him, “What are the two olive (e)branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?”

12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

12 And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold conduits, from which golden oil pours out?”

12 I also asked him a second question: "What are these two olive branches on either side of the two golden feeder channels that carry the golden oil to the seven lights?"

13 And he answered me and said, Dost thou not know what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

13 So he answered me, saying, “(W)Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, (X)my lord.”

13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

13 Then he inquired of me, “Don’t you know what these are?”“No, my lord,” I replied.

13 The angel replied, "You don't know what these are, do you?" I responded to him, "No, sir."

14 Then he said, These two sons of oil are those that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

14 Then he said, “These are the two (f)(Y)anointed ones who are (Z)standing by the (AA)Lord of the whole earth.”

14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

14 “These are the two anointed ones,”(c)(H) he said, “who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”(I)

14 He said, "These are the two anointed ones, who stand continuously beside the Lord of the whole earth."
