יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

God ､

וְזֶה־

wə·zeh-

and this [is]

מִּזְבֵּ֥חַ

miz·bê·aḥ

לְעֹלָ֖ה

lə·‘ō·lāh

of burnt offering

. לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

lə·yiś·rā·’êl.

לִכְנוֹס֙

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַגֵּרִ֔ים

hag·gê·rîm,

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

’ă·šer

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

וַיַּעֲמֵ֣ד

way·ya·‘ă·mêḏ

and he appointed

חֹֽצְבִ֗ים

ḥō·ṣə·ḇîm,

לַחְצוֹב֙

laḥ·ṣō·wḇ

to cut

אַבְנֵ֣י

’aḇ·nê

גָזִ֔ית

ḡā·zîṯ,

לִבְנ֖וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm.

of God .

וּבַרְזֶ֣ל ׀

ū·ḇar·zel

And iron

לָ֠רֹב

lā·rōḇ

לַֽמִּסְמְרִ֞ים

lam·mis·mə·rîm

לְדַלְת֧וֹת

lə·ḏal·ṯō·wṯ

of the doors

､ הַשְּׁעָרִ֛ים

haš·šə·‘ā·rîm

of the gates ､

– וְלַֽמְחַבְּר֖וֹת

wə·lam·ḥab·bə·rō·wṯ

for the joints –

הֵכִ֣ין

hê·ḵîn

דָּוִ֑יד

dā·wîḏ;

וּנְחֹ֥שֶׁת

ū·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

לָרֹ֖ב

lā·rōḇ

אֵ֥ין

’ên

[there is] no

– מִשְׁקָֽל׃

miš·qāl.

וַעֲצֵ֥י

wa·‘ă·ṣê

אֲרָזִ֖ים

’ă·rā·zîm

לְאֵ֣ין

lə·’ên

in

､ מִסְפָּ֑ר

mis·pār;

כִּֽי

kî

הֵ֠בִיאוּ

hê·ḇî·’ū

הַצִּֽידֹנִ֨ים

haṣ·ṣî·ḏō·nîm

וְהַצֹּרִ֜ים

wə·haṣ·ṣō·rîm

and [those from] Tyre

עֲצֵ֧י

‘ă·ṣê

אֲרָזִ֛ים

’ă·rā·zîm

לָרֹ֖ב

lā·rōḇ

. לְדָוִֽיד׃

lə·ḏā·wîḏ.

to David .

And said ､

דָּוִ֗יד

שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה

šə·lō·mōh

בְנִי֮

ḇə·nî

my son

נַ֣עַר

na·‘ar

､ וָרָךְ֒

wā·rāḵ

and inexperienced ､

וְהַבַּ֜יִת

wə·hab·ba·yiṯ

and the house

לִבְנ֣וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

to be built

לַיהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ לְהַגְדִּ֨יל ׀

lə·haḡ·dîl

magnificent ､

לְמַ֜עְלָה

lə·ma‘·lāh

[must be] exceedingly

לְשֵׁ֤ם

lə·šêm

וּלְתִפְאֶ֙רֶת֙

ū·lə·ṯip̄·’e·reṯ

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

. הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ,

אָכִ֥ינָה

’ā·ḵî·nāh

I will make preparation

נָּ֖א

nā

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

for it

וַיָּ֧כֶן

way·yā·ḵen

so made preparations

דָּוִ֛יד

dā·wîḏ

לָרֹ֖ב

lā·rōḇ

לִפְנֵ֥י

lip̄·nê

. מוֹתֽוֹ׃

mō·w·ṯōw.

Solomon Anointed to Build the Temple

וַיִּקְרָ֖א

way·yiq·rā

And he called

לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה

liš·lō·mōh

､ בְנ֑וֹ

ḇə·nōw;

וַיְצַוֵּ֙הוּ֙

way·ṣaw·wê·hū

and charged him

לִבְנ֣וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

בַּ֔יִת

ba·yiṯ,

לַיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

’ĕ·lō·hê

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר

And said

דָּוִ֖יד

dā·wîḏ

､ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֑ה

liš·lō·mōh;

to Solomon ､

[בנו]

bə·nōw

､ (בְּנִ֕י)

bə·nî

My son ､

､ אֲנִי֙

’ă·nî

[as for] me ､

הָיָ֣ה

hā·yāh

it was

עִם־

‘im-

in

לְבָבִ֔י

lə·ḇā·ḇî,

לִבְנ֣וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

בַּ֔יִת

ba·yiṯ,

לְשֵׁ֖ם

lə·šêm

to the name

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהָֽי׃

’ĕ·lō·hāy.

my God .

וַיְהִ֨י

way·hî

But came

עָלַ֤י

‘ā·lay

to me

דְּבַר־

də·ḇar-

the word

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

דָּ֤ם

dām

､ לָרֹב֙

lā·rōḇ

much ､

שָׁפַ֔כְתָּ

šā·p̄aḵ·tā,

– וּמִלְחָמ֥וֹת

ū·mil·ḥā·mō·wṯ

and wars –

גְּדֹל֖וֹת

gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ

עָשִׂ֑יתָ

‘ā·śî·ṯā;

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תִבְנֶ֥ה

ṯiḇ·neh

you shall build

בַ֙יִת֙

ḇa·yiṯ

､ לִשְׁמִ֔י

liš·mî,

for My name ､

כִּ֚י

kî

דָּמִ֣ים

dā·mîm

רַבִּ֔ים

rab·bîm,

שָׁפַ֥כְתָּ

šā·p̄aḵ·tā

אַ֖רְצָה

’ar·ṣāh

on the earth

. לְפָנָֽי׃

lə·p̄ā·nāy.

in My sight .

､ הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

בֵ֞ן

ḇên

נוֹלָ֣ד

nō·w·lāḏ

לָ֗ךְ

lāḵ,

to you

ה֤וּא

hū

he

יִהְיֶה֙

yih·yeh

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

– מְנוּחָ֔ה

mə·nū·ḥāh,

of rest –

וַהֲנִח֥וֹתִי

wa·hă·ni·ḥō·w·ṯî

and I will give rest

ל֛וֹ

lōw

מִכָּל־

mik·kāl

אוֹיְבָ֖יו

’ō·wy·ḇāw

– מִסָּבִ֑יב

mis·sā·ḇîḇ;

כִּ֤י

kî

､ שְׁלֹמֹה֙

šə·lō·mōh

יִהְיֶ֣ה

yih·yeh

שְׁמ֔וֹ

šə·mōw,

וְשָׁל֥וֹם

wə·šā·lō·wm

וָשֶׁ֛קֶט

wā·še·qeṭ

אֶתֵּ֥ן

’et·tên

I will give

עַל־

‘al-

to

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

. בְּיָמָֽיו׃

bə·yā·māw.

הֽוּא־

hū-

He

יִבְנֶ֥ה

yiḇ·neh

בַ֙יִת֙

ḇa·yiṯ

– לִשְׁמִ֔י

liš·mî,

for My name –

וְהוּא֙

wə·hū

and he

יִהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

לִּ֣י

lî

My

､ לְבֵ֔ן

lə·ḇên,

son ､

וַאֲנִי־

wa·’ă·nî-

and I [will be]

ל֖וֹ

lōw

– לְאָ֑ב

lə·’āḇ;

וַהֲכִ֨ינוֹתִ֜י

wa·hă·ḵî·nō·w·ṯî

and I will establish

כִּסֵּ֧א

kis·sê

מַלְכוּת֛וֹ

mal·ḵū·ṯōw

עַל־

‘al-

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

עַד־

‘aḏ-

. עוֹלָֽם׃

‘ō·w·lām.

､ עַתָּ֣ה

‘at·tāh

Now ､

､ בְנִ֔י

ḇə·nî,

my son ､

יְהִ֥י

yə·hî

may be

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

עִמָּ֑ךְ

‘im·māḵ;

with you

וְהִצְלַחְתָּ֗

wə·hiṣ·laḥ·tā,

and may you prosper

וּבָנִ֙יתָ֙

ū·ḇā·nî·ṯā

בֵּ֚ית

bêṯ

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

דִּבֶּ֥ר

dib·ber

. עָלֶֽיךָ׃

‘ā·le·ḵā.

to you .

אַ֣ךְ

יִֽתֶּן־

לְּךָ֤

､ וּבִינָ֔ה

and understanding ､

וִֽיצַוְּךָ֖

wî·ṣaw·wə·ḵā

and give you charge

עַל־

‘al-

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

וְלִשְׁמ֕וֹר

wə·liš·mō·wr

that you may keep

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

תּוֹרַ֖ת

tō·w·raṯ

the law

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā.

אָ֣ז

’āz

､ תַּצְלִ֔יחַ

taṣ·lî·aḥ,

you will prosper ､

אִם־

’im-

if

תִּשְׁמ֗וֹר

tiš·mō·wr,

לַעֲשׂוֹת֙

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַֽחֻקִּ֣ים

ha·ḥuq·qîm

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים

ham·miš·pā·ṭîm,

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

with which

צִוָּ֧ה

ṣiw·wāh

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מֹשֶׁ֖ה

mō·šeh

עַל־

‘al-

. יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

､ חֲזַ֣ק

ḥă·zaq

Be strong ､

– וֶאֱמָ֔ץ

we·’ĕ·māṣ,

and of good courage –

､ אַל־

’al-

not ､

תִּירָ֖א

tî·rā

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

. תֵּחָֽת׃

tê·ḥāṯ.

､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

And indeed ､

בְעָנְיִ֜י

ḇə·‘ā·nə·yî

[I have taken much] trouble

הֲכִינ֣וֹתִי

hă·ḵî·nō·w·ṯî

לְבֵית־

lə·ḇêṯ-

יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ זָהָ֞ב

zā·hāḇ

gold ､

כִּכָּרִ֤ים

kik·kā·rîm

מֵֽאָה־

mê·’āh-

אֶ֙לֶף֙

’e·lep̄

– וְכֶ֗סֶף

wə·ḵe·sep̄,

and silver –

אֶ֤לֶף

’e·lep̄

אֲלָפִים֙

’ă·lā·p̄îm

כִּכָּרִ֔ים

kik·kā·rîm,

וְלַנְּחֹ֤שֶׁת

wə·lan·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

וְלַבַּרְזֶל֙

wə·lab·bar·zel

and iron

אֵ֣ין

’ên

[there is] no

– מִשְׁקָ֔ל

miš·qāl,

כִּ֥י

kî

– לָרֹ֖ב

lā·rōḇ

so abundant –

הָיָ֑ה

hā·yāh;

it is

וְעֵצִ֤ים

wə·‘ê·ṣîm

וַאֲבָנִים֙

wa·’ă·ḇā·nîm

– הֲכִינ֔וֹתִי

hă·ḵî·nō·w·ṯî,

I have prepared –

וַעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

wa·‘ă·lê·hem

and to them

. תּוֹסִֽיף׃

tō·w·sîp̄.

וְעִמְּךָ֤

wə·‘im·mə·ḵā

Moreover with you

､ לָרֹב֙

lā·rōḇ

in abundance ､

עֹשֵׂ֣י

‘ō·śê

. מְלָאכָ֔ה

mə·lā·ḵāh,

[there are] workmen .

חֹצְבִ֕ים

ḥō·ṣə·ḇîm

וְחָרָשֵׁ֥י

wə·ḥā·rā·šê

and

אֶ֖בֶן

’e·ḇen

､ וָעֵ֑ץ

wā·‘êṣ;

and woodsmen ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all of types

חָכָ֖ם

ḥā·ḵām

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

. מְלָאכָֽה׃

mə·lā·ḵāh.

of work .

､ לַזָּהָ֥ב

laz·zā·hāḇ

Of gold ､

､ לַכֶּ֛סֶף

lak·ke·sep̄

and silver ､

､ וְלַנְּחֹ֥שֶׁת

wə·lan·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

and bronze ､

､ וְלַבַּרְזֶ֖ל

wə·lab·bar·zel

and iron ､

אֵ֣ין

’ên

[there is] no

. מִסְפָּ֑ר

mis·pār;

ק֣וּם

qūm

､ וַעֲשֵׂ֔ה

wa·‘ă·śêh,

and begin working ､

וִיהִ֥י

wî·hî

and be

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. עִמָּֽךְ׃

‘im·māḵ.

with you .

וַיְצַ֤ו

way·ṣaw

דָּוִיד֙

dā·wîḏ

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

שָׂרֵ֣י

śā·rê

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

לַעְזֹ֖ר

la‘·zōr

לִשְׁלֹמֹ֥ה

liš·lō·mōh

､ בְנֽוֹ׃

ḇə·nōw.

his son [saying] ､

הֲלֹ֨א

hă·lō

[Is] not

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem

עִמָּכֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·ḵem,

with you

וְהֵנִ֥יחַ

wə·hê·nî·aḥ

and has He [not] given rest

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

؟ מִסָּבִ֑יב

mis·sā·ḇîḇ;

on every side ؟

כִּ֣י ׀

kî

נָתַ֣ן

nā·ṯan

– בְּיָדִ֗י

bə·yā·ḏî,

into my hand –

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

יֹשְׁבֵ֣י

yō·šə·ḇê

the inhabitants

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

of the land

וְנִכְבְּשָׁ֥ה

wə·niḵ·bə·šāh

and is subdued

הָאָ֛רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

לִפְנֵ֥י

lip̄·nê

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

וְלִפְנֵ֥י

wə·lip̄·nê

. עַמּֽוֹ׃

‘am·mōw.

עַתָּ֗ה

‘at·tāh,

תְּנ֤וּ

tə·nū

לְבַבְכֶם֙

lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem

וְנַפְשְׁכֶ֔ם

wə·nap̄·šə·ḵem,

לִדְר֖וֹשׁ

liḏ·rō·wōš

לַיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem;

וְק֗וּמוּ

wə·qū·mū,

therefore arise

וּבְנוּ֙

ū·ḇə·nū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

מִקְדַּשׁ֙

miq·daš

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

לְהָבִ֞יא

lə·hā·ḇî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲר֣וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

בְּרִית־

bə·rîṯ-

of the covenant

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

וּכְלֵי֙

ū·ḵə·lê

and the articles

קֹ֣דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš

､ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

לַבַּ֖יִת

lab·ba·yiṯ

הַנִּבְנֶ֥ה

han·niḇ·neh

that is to be built

לְשֵׁם־

lə·šêm-
