עַתָּ֛ה

אֶסָּפֶ֥ה
’es·sā·p̄eh
יוֹם־
yō·wm-
אֶחָ֖ד
’e·ḥāḏ
בְּיַד־
bə·yaḏ-
by the hand
. שָׁא֑וּל
šā·’ūl;
of Saul .
אֵֽין־
’ên-
לִ֨י
lî
for me
ט֜וֹב
ṭō·wḇ
כִּ֣י
kî
הִמָּלֵ֥ט
him·mā·lêṭ
אִמָּלֵ֣ט ׀
’im·mā·lêṭ
אֶל־
’el-
to
אֶ֣רֶץ
’e·reṣ
the land
– פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים
pə·liš·tîm,
of the Philistines –
וְנוֹאַ֨שׁ
wə·nō·w·’aš
and will despair
מִמֶּ֤נִּי
mim·men·nî
of me
שָׁאוּל֙
šā·’ūl
לְבַקְשֵׁ֤נִי
lə·ḇaq·šê·nî
to seek me
עוֹד֙
‘ō·wḏ
בְּכָל־
bə·ḵāl
in any
גְּב֣וּל
gə·ḇūl
､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
yiś·rā·’êl,
of Israel ､
וְנִמְלַטְתִּ֖י
wə·nim·laṭ·tî
. מִיָּדֽוֹ׃
mî·yā·ḏōw.
out of his hand .

､ וַיָּ֣קָם
way·yā·qām
And arose ､
דָּוִ֔ד
dā·wiḏ,
וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ר
way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr
ה֔וּא
hū,
he
וְשֵׁשׁ־
wə·šêš-
and [with] six
מֵא֥וֹת
mê·’ō·wṯ
אִ֖ישׁ
’îš
the men
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
עִמּ֑וֹ
‘im·mōw;
with him
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ אָכִ֥ישׁ
’ā·ḵîš
Achish ､
בֶּן־
ben-
､ מָע֖וֹךְ
mā·‘ō·wḵ
of Maoch ､
מֶ֥לֶךְ
me·leḵ
. גַּֽת׃
gaṯ.
of Gath .

וַיֵּשֶׁב֩

דָּוִ֨ד

עִם־
‘im-
with
אָכִ֥ישׁ

､ בְּגַ֛ת
bə·ḡaṯ
at Gath ､
ה֥וּא
hū
he
､ וַאֲנָשָׁ֖יו
wa·’ă·nā·šāw
and his men ､
אִ֣ישׁ
’îš
､ וּבֵית֑וֹ
ū·ḇê·ṯōw;
and with his household ､
דָּוִד֙
dā·wiḏ
[and] David
וּשְׁתֵּ֣י
ū·šə·tê
and two
､ נָשָׁ֔יו
nā·šāw,
with his wives ､
אֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙
’ă·ḥî·nō·‘am
､ הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֔ית
hay·yiz·rə·‘ê·lîṯ,
the Jezreelitess ､
וַאֲבִיגַ֥יִל
wa·’ă·ḇî·ḡa·yil
אֵֽשֶׁת־
’ê·šeṯ-
נָבָ֖ל
nā·ḇāl
. הַֽכַּרְמְלִֽית׃
hak·kar·mə·lîṯ.

וַיֻּגַּ֣ד
way·yug·gaḏ
And it was told
לְשָׁא֔וּל
lə·šā·’ūl,
כִּֽי־
kî-
בָרַ֥ח
ḇā·raḥ
דָּוִ֖ד
dā·wiḏ
､ גַּ֑ת
gaṯ;
to Gath ､
וְלֹֽא־
wə·lō-
so no
[יוסף]
yō·w·sap̄
-
(יָסַ֥ף)
yā·sap̄
he
ע֖וֹד
‘ō·wḏ
. לְבַקְשֽׁוֹ׃
lə·ḇaq·šōw.

in your eyes ､
יִתְּנוּ־

מָק֗וֹם

בְּאַחַ֛ת
bə·’a·ḥaṯ
in one
עָרֵ֥י
‘ā·rê
town in
､ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה
haś·śā·ḏeh
the country ､
וְאֵ֣שְׁבָה
wə·’ê·šə·ḇāh
– שָּׁ֑ם
šām;
there –
וְלָ֨מָּה
wə·lām·māh
יֵשֵׁ֧ב
yê·šêḇ
עַבְדְּךָ֛
‘aḇ·də·ḵā
בְּעִ֥יר
bə·‘îr
in city
הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה
ham·mam·lā·ḵāh
the royal
. עִמָּֽךְ׃
‘im·māḵ.
with you .

way·yit·ten-
So gave

– בַּיּ֥וֹם
bay·yō·wm
day –
הַה֖וּא
ha·hū
אֶת־
’eṯ-

צִֽקְלָ֑ג
ṣiq·lāḡ;
לָכֵ֞ן
lā·ḵên
הָיְתָ֤ה
hā·yə·ṯāh
צִֽקְלַג֙
ṣiq·laḡ
לְמַלְכֵ֣י
lə·mal·ḵê
to the kings
יְהוּדָ֔ה
yə·hū·ḏāh,
עַ֖ד
‘aḏ
to
הַיּ֥וֹם
hay·yō·wm
. הַזֶּֽה׃
haz·zeh.

in the country
פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה
wə·’ar·bā·‘āh
and four
. חֳדָשִֽׁים׃
ḥo·ḏā·šîm.

､ וַיַּ֤עַל
way·ya·‘al
And went up ､
דָּוִד֙
dā·wiḏ
וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֔יו
wa·’ă·nā·šāw,
and his men
וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֛וּ
way·yip̄·šə·ṭū
and raided
אֶל־
’el-
､ הַגְּשׁוּרִ֥י
hag·gə·šū·rî
the Geshurite ､
[והגרזי]
wə·hag·gir·zî
､ (וְהַגִּזְרִ֖י)
wə·hag·giz·rî
the Girzite ､
– וְהָעֲמָלֵקִ֑י
wə·hā·‘ă·mā·lê·qî;
and the Amalekite –
כִּ֣י
kî
הֵ֜נָּה
hên·nāh
יֹשְׁב֤וֹת
yō·šə·ḇō·wṯ
､ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙
hā·’ā·reṣ
of the land ､
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
of old
מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם
mê·‘ō·w·lām,
בּוֹאֲךָ֥
bō·w·’ă·ḵā
as you go to
､ שׁ֖וּרָה
šū·rāh
Shur ､
וְעַד־
wə·‘aḏ-
and even as far as
אֶ֥רֶץ
’e·reṣ
the land
. מִצְרָֽיִם׃
miṣ·rā·yim.
of Egypt .

וְהִכָּ֤ה

דָוִד֙

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ
hā·’ā·reṣ,
the land ､
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
יְחַיֶּ֖ה
yə·ḥay·yeh
אִ֣ישׁ
’îš
וְאִשָּׁ֑ה
wə·’iš·šāh;
וְלָקַח֩
wə·lā·qaḥ
､ צֹ֨אן
ṣōn
the sheep ､
､ וּבָקָ֜ר
ū·ḇā·qār
and the oxen ､
､ וַחֲמֹרִ֤ים
wa·ḥă·mō·rîm
and the donkeys ､
､ וּגְמַלִּים֙
ū·ḡə·mal·lîm
and the camels ､
､ וּבְגָדִ֔ים
ū·ḇə·ḡā·ḏîm,
and the apparel ､
､ וַיָּ֖שָׁב
way·yā·šāḇ
and returned ､
וַיָּבֹ֥א
way·yā·ḇō
and came
אֶל־
’el-
to
. אָכִֽישׁ׃
’ā·ḵîš.

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר
way·yō·mer
And would say ､
אָכִ֔ישׁ
’ā·ḵîš,
אַל־
’al-
פְּשַׁטְתֶּ֖ם
pə·šaṭ·tem
؟ הַיּ֑וֹם
hay·yō·wm;
､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר
way·yō·mer
and would say ､
דָּוִ֗ד
dā·wiḏ,
עַל־
‘al-
נֶ֤גֶב
ne·ḡeḇ
､ יְהוּדָה֙
yə·hū·ḏāh
of Judah ､
וְעַל־
wə·‘al-
נֶ֣גֶב
ne·ḡeḇ
､ הַיַּרְחְמְאֵלִ֔י
hay·yar·ḥə·mə·’ê·lî,
of the Jerahmeelites ､
וְאֶל־
wə·’el-
נֶ֖גֶב
ne·ḡeḇ
. הַקֵּינִֽי׃
haq·qê·nî.
of the Kenite .

וְאִ֨ישׁ
wə·’îš
וְאִשָּׁ֜ה
wə·’iš·šāh
לֹֽא־
lō-
יְחַיֶּ֣ה
yə·ḥay·yeh
דָוִ֗ד
ḏā·wiḏ,
לְהָבִ֥יא
lə·hā·ḇî
to bring [news]
､ גַת֙
ḡaṯ
to Gath ､
､ לֵאמֹ֔ר
lê·mōr,
saying ､
פֶּן־
pen-
יַגִּ֥דוּ
yag·gi·ḏū
עָלֵ֖ינוּ
‘ā·lê·nū
on us
､ לֵאמֹ֑ר
lê·mōr;
saying ､
כֹּֽה־
kōh-
עָשָׂ֤ה
‘ā·śāh
､ דָוִד֙
ḏā·wiḏ
David ､
וְכֹ֣ה
wə·ḵōh
and thus
מִשְׁפָּט֔וֹ
miš·pā·ṭōw,
כָּל־
kāl-
הַ֨יָּמִ֔ים
hay·yā·mîm,
the time
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
יָשַׁ֖ב
yā·šaḇ
בִּשְׂדֵ֥ה
biś·ḏêh
in the country
. פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃
p̄ə·liš·tîm.
of the Philistines .

וַיַּאֲמֵ֥ן

､ בְּדָוִ֣ד

David ､
､ לֵאמֹ֑ר
lê·mōr;
saying ､
הַבְאֵ֤שׁ
haḇ·’êš
הִבְאִישׁ֙
hiḇ·’îš
בְּעַמּ֣וֹ
bə·‘am·mōw
בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
ḇə·yiś·rā·’êl,
וְהָ֥יָה
wə·hā·yāh
therefore he will be
לִ֖י

my
לְעֶ֥בֶד
lə·‘e·ḇeḏ
. עוֹלָֽם׃
‘ō·w·lām.
