that gathered together

פְלִשְׁתִּ֤ים

the Philistines

אֶת־

’eṯ-

מַֽחֲנֵיהֶם֙

ma·ḥă·nê·hem

､ לַצָּבָ֔א

laṣ·ṣā·ḇā,

לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

. בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

bə·yiś·rā·’êl;

with Israel .

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

אָכִישׁ֙

’ā·ḵîš

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ דָּוִ֔ד

dā·wiḏ,

יָדֹ֣עַ

yā·ḏō·a‘

תֵּדַ֗ע

tê·ḏa‘,

כִּ֤י

kî

אִתִּי֙

’it·tî

with me

תֵּצֵ֣א

tê·ṣê

you will go out

､ בַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה

ḇam·ma·ḥă·neh,

to battle ､

אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

. וַאֲנָשֶֽׁיךָ׃

wa·’ă·nā·še·ḵā.

and your men .

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And said

דָּוִד֙

אֶל־

to

､ אָכִ֔ישׁ

לָכֵן֙

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

תֵדַ֔ע

. יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה

one of my guardians

לְרֹאשִׁ֛י

אֲשִֽׂימְךָ֖

I will make you

and in his own city .

וְשָׁא֗וּל

And Saul

､ הָאֹב֥וֹת

the mediums ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֖ים

hay·yid·də·‘ō·nîm

the spiritists ､

. מֵהָאָֽרֶץ׃

mê·hā·’ā·reṣ.

out of the land .

､ וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ

way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū

And gathered together ､

פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

the Philistines

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

and came

וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ

– בְשׁוּנֵ֑ם

at Shunem –

וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ

way·yiq·bōṣ

so gathered together

שָׁאוּל֙

אֶת־

’eṯ-

כָּל־

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ

and they encamped

. בַּגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃

bag·gil·bō·a‘.

וַיַּ֥רְא

the army

and he was afraid ､

And when inquired

and went ､

עִמּ֔וֹ

with him

וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ

– לָ֑יְלָה

and he said ､

､ בְּנַפְשִׁ֖י

bə·nap̄·šî

for my life ､

؟ לַהֲמִיתֵֽנִי׃

to cause me to die ؟

וַיִּשָּׁ֤בַֽע

shall I bring up

לָּ֑ךְ

and he said ､

וַתִּזְעַ֖ק

and she cried out

with a voice –

וַתֹּאמֶר֩

הָאִשָּׁ֨ה

אֶל־

to

､ שָׁא֧וּל

Saul ､

רִמִּיתָ֖נִי

have you deceived me

is coming up –

and he

עֹטֶ֖ה

[is] covered with

וַיֵּ֤דַע

כִּֽי־

it [was]

וַיִּקֹּ֥ד

and he stooped

אַפַּ֛יִם

with [his] face

､ אַ֖רְצָה

to the ground ､

. וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃

and bowed down .

and answered ､

for the Philistines

therefore I have called

that you may reveal to me

and fell

’ar·ṣāh,

on the ground ､

､ וַיִּרָ֥א

and was afraid ､

מְאֹ֖ד

מִדִּבְרֵ֣י

mid·diḇ·rê

because of the words

– שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל

šə·mū·’êl;

of Samuel –

and saw

כִּי־

､ נִבְהַ֣ל

niḇ·hal

he was troubled ､

מְאֹ֑ד

mə·’ōḏ;

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר

wat·tō·mer

and said

אֵלָ֗יו

’ê·lāw,

to him

､ הִנֵּ֨ה

hin·nêh

Look ､

שָׁמְעָ֤ה

šā·mə·‘āh

שִׁפְחָֽתְךָ֙

šip̄·ḥā·ṯə·ḵā

your maidservant

､ בְּקוֹלֶ֔ךָ

bə·qō·w·le·ḵā,

וָאָשִׂ֤ים

wā·’ā·śîm

and I have put

נַפְשִׁי֙

nap̄·šî

､ בְּכַפִּ֔י

bə·ḵap·pî,

in my hands ､

וָֽאֶשְׁמַע֙

wā·’eš·ma‘

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

דְּבָרֶ֔יךָ

də·ḇā·re·ḵā,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ

dib·bar·tā

. אֵלָֽי׃

to me .

וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

שְׁמַֽע־

､ נָ֤א

､ שִׁפְחָתֶ֔ךָ

of your maidservant ､

and let me set

לְפָנֶ֛יךָ

､ וֶאֱכ֑וֹל

and eat ､

וִיהִ֤י

wî·hî

בְךָ֙

תֵלֵ֖ךְ

you go

. בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃

bad·dā·reḵ.

on [your] way .

､ וַיְמָאֵ֗ן

way·mā·’ên,

But he refused ､

､ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

way·yō·mer

and said ､

לֹ֣א

not

. אֹכַ֔ל

’ō·ḵal,

I will eat .

וַיִּפְרְצוּ־

way·yip̄·rə·ṣū-

ב֤וֹ

ḇōw

､ עֲבָדָיו֙

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

his servants ､

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

and together with

､ הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

hā·’iš·šāh,

the woman ､

וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע

way·yiš·ma‘

and he heeded

. לְקֹלָ֑ם

lə·qō·lām;

וַיָּ֙קָם֙

way·yā·qām

And he arose

､ מֵֽהָאָ֔רֶץ

mê·hā·’ā·reṣ,

from the ground ､

וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב

way·yê·šeḇ

and sat

אֶל־

’el-

on

. הַמִּטָּֽה׃

ham·miṭ·ṭāh.

the bed .

וְלָאִשָּׁ֤ה

wə·lā·’iš·šāh

And the woman had

עֵֽגֶל־

‘ê·ḡel-

מַרְבֵּק֙

mar·bêq

– בַּבַּ֔יִת

bab·ba·yiṯ,

in the house –

､ וַתְּמַהֵ֖ר

wat·tə·ma·hêr

and she hastened ､

וַתִּזְבָּחֵ֑הוּ

wat·tiz·bā·ḥê·hū;

and to kill it

וַתִּקַּח־

wat·tiq·qaḥ-

､ קֶ֣מַח

qe·maḥ

וַתָּ֔לָשׁ

wat·tā·lāš,

and kneaded [it]

וַתֹּפֵ֖הוּ

wat·tō·p̄ê·hū

and baked from it

. מַצּֽוֹת׃

maṣ·ṣō·wṯ.

unleavened bread .

וַתַּגֵּ֧שׁ

wat·tag·gêš

So she brought [it]

לִפְנֵֽי־

lip̄·nê-

､ שָׁא֛וּל

šā·’ūl

Saul ､

וְלִפְנֵ֥י

wə·lip̄·nê

and

– עֲבָדָ֖יו

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

his servants –

. וַיֹּאכֵ֑לוּ

way·yō·ḵê·lū;

and they ate .

､ וַיָּקֻ֥מוּ

way·yā·qu·mū

And they rose ､

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

בַּלַּ֥יְלָה

bal·lay·lāh

. הַהֽוּא׃

ha·hū.
