וַיִּקְרְא֣וּ
way·yiq·rə·’ū
And called
פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים
p̄ə·liš·tîm,
לַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים
lak·kō·hă·nîm
､ וְלַקֹּֽסְמִים֙
wə·laq·qō·sə·mîm
and the diviners ､
､ לֵאמֹ֔ר
lê·mōr,
saying ､
מַֽה־
mah-
נַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה
na·‘ă·śeh
shall we do
לַאֲר֣וֹן
la·’ă·rō·wn
with the ark
؟ יְהוָ֑ה
Yah·weh;
of Yahweh ؟
הוֹדִעֻ֕נוּ
hō·w·ḏi·‘u·nū
Tell us
בַּמֶּ֖ה
bam·meh
by what
נְשַׁלְּחֶ֥נּוּ
nə·šal·lə·ḥen·nū
should we send it
. לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃
lim·qō·w·mōw.
to its place .

､ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ

So they said ､
אִֽם־
’im-

מְשַׁלְּחִ֞ים
mə·šal·lə·ḥîm
אֶת־
’eṯ-

אֲר֨וֹן
’ă·rō·wn
the ark
אֱלֹהֵ֤י
’ĕ·lō·hê
of the God
､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙
yiś·rā·’êl
of Israel ､
אַל־
’al-
not
תְּשַׁלְּח֤וּ
tə·šal·lə·ḥū
do send
אֹתוֹ֙
’ō·ṯōw
it
– רֵיקָ֔ם
rê·qām,
empty –
כִּֽי־
kî-
but
הָשֵׁ֥ב
hā·šêḇ
תָּשִׁ֛יבוּ
tā·šî·ḇū
return [it]
ל֖וֹ
lōw
to Him
– אָשָׁ֑ם
’ā·šām;
[with] a trespass offering –
אָ֤ז
’āz
､ תֵּרָֽפְאוּ֙
tê·rā·p̄ə·’ū
you will be healed ､
וְנוֹדַ֣ע
wə·nō·w·ḏa‘
and it will be known
לָכֶ֔ם
lā·ḵem,
to you
לָ֛מָּה
lām·māh
לֹא־
lō-
not
תָס֥וּר
ṯā·sūr
יָד֖וֹ
yā·ḏōw
. מִכֶּֽם׃

וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ

to Him
､ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ

and they answered ､
מִסְפַּר֙

[according to] the number
סַרְנֵ֣י
sar·nê
of the lords
､ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים
p̄ə·liš·tîm,
of the Philistines ､
חֲמִשָּׁה֙
ḥă·miš·šāh
[עפלי]
‘ā·p̄ə·lê
-
､ (טְחֹרֵ֣י)
ṭə·ḥō·rê
tumors ､
זָהָ֔ב
zā·hāḇ,
וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה
wa·ḥă·miš·šāh
and five
､ עַכְבְּרֵ֣י
‘aḵ·bə·rê
rats ､
זָהָ֑ב
zā·hāḇ;
כִּֽי־
kî-
מַגֵּפָ֥ה
mag·gê·p̄āh
אַחַ֛ת
’a·ḥaṯ
､ לְכֻלָּ֖ם
lə·ḵul·lām
on all of you ､
. וּלְסַרְנֵיכֶֽם׃

and on your lords .

הַמַּשְׁחִיתִם֙

וּפַרְעֹ֖ה

חֲדָשָׁה֙
ḥă·ḏā·šāh
אֶחָ֔ת
’e·ḥāṯ,
a
וּשְׁתֵּ֤י
ū·šə·tê
and two
､ פָרוֹת֙
p̄ā·rō·wṯ
cows ､
עָל֔וֹת
‘ā·lō·wṯ,
אֲשֶׁ֛ר
’ă·šer
לֹא־
lō-
עָלָ֥ה
‘ā·lāh
עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם
‘ă·lê·hem
on
､ עֹ֑ל
‘ōl;
yoked ､
וַאֲסַרְתֶּ֤ם
wa·’ă·sar·tem
and hitch
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
הַפָּרוֹת֙
hap·pā·rō·wṯ
the cows
､ בָּעֲגָלָ֔ה
bā·‘ă·ḡā·lāh,
to the cart ､
וַהֲשֵׁיבֹתֶ֧ם
wa·hă·šê·ḇō·ṯem
בְּנֵיהֶ֛ם
bə·nê·hem
מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם
mê·’a·ḥă·rê·hem
. הַבָּֽיְתָה׃

And take

the ark
､ יְהוָ֗ה

of Yahweh ､
וּנְתַתֶּ֤ם

and set
אֹתוֹ֙
’ō·ṯōw
it
אֶל־
’el-
on
– הָ֣עֲגָלָ֔ה
hā·‘ă·ḡā·lāh,
the cart –
וְאֵ֣ת ׀
wə·’êṯ
and
כְּלֵ֣י
kə·lê
､ הַזָּהָ֗ב
haz·zā·hāḇ,
of gold ､
אֲשֶׁ֨ר
’ă·šer
הֲשֵׁבֹתֶ֥ם
hă·šê·ḇō·ṯem
לוֹ֙
lōw
to Him
､ אָשָׁ֔ם
’ā·šām,
[as] a trespass offering ､
תָּשִׂ֥ימוּ
tā·śî·mū
בָאַרְגַּ֖ז
ḇā·’ar·gaz
in a chest
מִצִּדּ֑וֹ
miṣ·ṣid·dōw;
וְשִׁלַּחְתֶּ֥ם
wə·šil·laḥ·tem
אֹת֖וֹ
’ō·ṯōw
it
. וְהָלָֽךְ׃
wə·hā·lāḵ.
and let it go .

､ וּרְאִיתֶ֗ם

And watch ､
אִם־

if
דֶּ֨רֶךְ

the road to
גְּבוּל֤וֹ
gə·ḇū·lōw
יַֽעֲלֶה֙
ya·‘ă·leh
it goes up
בֵּ֣ית
bêṯ
to
､ שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ
še·meš,
ה֚וּא
hū
[then] He
עָ֣שָׂה
‘ā·śāh
לָ֔נוּ
lā·nū,
us
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
– הָרָעָ֥ה
hā·rā·‘āh
הַגְּדוֹלָ֖ה
hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh
הַזֹּ֑את
haz·zōṯ;
וְאִם־
wə·’im-
but if
､ לֹ֗א

not ､
וְיָדַ֙עְנוּ֙

that [it is]

the chest

the cows
בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ

the road to

､ שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ

､ בִּמְסִלָּ֣ה
bim·sil·lāh
אַחַ֗ת
’a·ḥaṯ,
הָלְכ֤וּ

[and] went
､ הָלֹךְ֙
hā·lōḵ
as they went ､
וְגָע֔וֹ
wə·ḡā·‘ōw,
and lowing
וְלֹא־
wə·lō-
and not
סָ֖רוּ

יָמִ֣ין

to the right hand
– וּשְׂמֹ֑אול
ū·śə·mō·wl;
or the left –
וְסַרְנֵ֤י

and the lords
פְלִשְׁתִּים֙

הֹלְכִ֣ים

the border

Now [the people of]

､ בָּעֵ֑מֶק
bā·‘ê·meq;
in the valley ､
וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ
way·yiś·’ū
אֶת־
’eṯ-

､ עֵינֵיהֶ֗ם
‘ê·nê·hem,
וַיִּרְאוּ֙
way·yir·’ū
and saw
אֶת־
’eṯ-

､ הָ֣אָר֔וֹן

the ark ､
וַֽיִּשְׂמְח֖וּ

. לִרְאֽוֹת׃

And the cart

the field
､ יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ
yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘
of Joshua ､
בֵּֽית־

､ הַשִּׁמְשִׁי֙

וַתַּעֲמֹ֣ד
wat·ta·‘ă·mōḏ
and stood
､ שָׁ֔ם
šām,
there ､
וְשָׁ֖ם

and there
– אֶ֣בֶן
’e·ḇen
a stone [was] –
גְּדוֹלָ֑ה
gə·ḏō·w·lāh;
וַֽיְבַקְּעוּ֙
way·ḇaq·qə·‘ū
אֶת־

עֲצֵ֣י
‘ă·ṣê
the wood
､ הָעֲגָלָ֔ה
hā·‘ă·ḡā·lāh,
of the cart ､
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
and
הַ֨פָּר֔וֹת
hap·pā·rō·wṯ,
the cows
הֶעֱל֥וּ
he·‘ĕ·lū
עֹלָ֖ה
‘ō·lāh
. לַיהוָֽה׃

in that [were]

and put [them]

the stone –

and the men

הֶעֱל֨וּ
he·‘ĕ·lū
עֹל֜וֹת
‘ō·lō·wṯ
וַֽיִּזְבְּח֧וּ
way·yiz·bə·ḥū
and made
זְבָחִ֛ים
zə·ḇā·ḥîm
בַּיּ֥וֹם

הַה֖וּא

. לַֽיהוָֽה׃

So when the five

רָא֑וּ

had seen [it]
וַיָּשֻׁ֥בוּ
way·yā·šu·ḇū
עֶקְר֖וֹן
‘eq·rō·wn
בַּיּ֥וֹם
bay·yō·wm
. הַהֽוּא׃
ha·hū.

– לַֽיהוָ֑ה
Yah·weh;
to Yahweh: –

one ､
לְעַזָּ֤ה
lə·‘az·zāh
､ אֶחָד֙

one ､

one ､

and even as far as

[stone of] Abel ､
הַגְּדוֹלָ֗ה

the large
אֲשֶׁ֨ר
’ă·šer
הִנִּ֤יחוּ
hin·nî·ḥū
עָלֶ֙יהָ֙
‘ā·le·hā
on that
אֵ֚ת

אֲר֣וֹן

the ark
– יְהוָ֔ה
Yah·weh,
of Yahweh –

and He struck
בָּעָם֙

of the people
שִׁבְעִ֣ים

[and] seventy
אִ֔ישׁ

חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים

אֶ֖לֶף

､ אִ֑ישׁ

men ､
､ וַיִּֽתְאַבְּל֣וּ

and lamented ､
הָעָ֔ם

the people
כִּֽי־

with a slaughter

the men

is able
לַעֲמֹ֔ד

יְהוָ֧ה
Yah·weh
؟ הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים

God ؟
הַקָּד֖וֹשׁ

הַזֶּ֑ה

וְאֶל־

and to

shall it go up
