וַעֲזַרְיָ֙הוּ֙

wa·‘ă·zar·yā·hū

בֶּן־

ben-

､ עוֹדֵ֔ד

‘ō·w·ḏêḏ,

of Oded ､

הָיְתָ֥ה

hā·yə·ṯāh

עָלָ֖יו

‘ā·lāw

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

. אֱלֹהִֽים׃

’ĕ·lō·hîm.

of God .

וַיֵּצֵא֮

way·yê·ṣê

And he went out

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

､ אָסָא֒

’ā·sā

Asa ､

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

ל֔וֹ

lōw,

to him

שְׁמָע֕וּנִי

šə·mā·‘ū·nî

､ אָסָ֖א

’ā·sā

Asa ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

יְהוּדָ֣ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

– וּבִנְיָמִ֑ן

ū·ḇin·yā·min;

and Benjamin –

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

עִמָּכֶם֙

‘im·mā·ḵem

with you

בִּֽהְיֽוֹתְכֶ֣ם

bih·yō·wṯ·ḵem

עִמּ֔וֹ

‘im·mōw,

with Him

וְאִֽם־

wə·’im-

and if

תִּדְרְשֻׁ֙הוּ֙

tiḏ·rə·šu·hū

יִמָּצֵ֣א

yim·mā·ṣê

He will be found

לָכֶ֔ם

lā·ḵem,

by you

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

but if

תַּעַזְבֻ֖הוּ

ta·‘az·ḇu·hū

you forsake Him

יַעֲזֹ֥ב

ya·‘ă·zōḇ

He will forsake

. אֶתְכֶֽם׃

’eṯ·ḵem.

רַבִּ֖ים

rab·bîm

לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

lə·yiś·rā·’êl;

time Israel [has been]

לְלֹ֣א ׀

､ אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

the God ､

אֱמֶ֗ת

’ĕ·meṯ,

וּלְלֹ֛א

ū·lə·lō

､ כֹּהֵ֥ן

kō·hên

a priest ､

מוֹרֶ֖ה

mō·w·reh

וּלְלֹ֥א

ū·lə·lō

. תוֹרָֽה׃

ṯō·w·rāh.

וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙

way·yā·šāḇ

But when they turned

בַּצַּר־

baṣ·ṣar-

ל֔וֹ

lōw,

עַל־

‘al-

to

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

וַיְבַקְשֻׁ֖הוּ

way·ḇaq·šu·hū

וַיִּמָּצֵ֥א

way·yim·mā·ṣê

and He was found

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

by them .

וּבָעִתִּ֣ים

ū·ḇā·‘it·tîm

And in times

הָהֵ֔ם

hā·hêm,

אֵ֥ין

’ên

no

שָׁל֖וֹם

šā·lō·wm

[there was] peace

､ לַיּוֹצֵ֣א

lay·yō·w·ṣê

to the one who went out ､

､ וְלַבָּ֑א

wə·lab·bā;

nor to the one who came in ､

כִּ֚י

kî

but

מְהוּמֹ֣ת

mə·hū·mōṯ

רַבּ֔וֹת

rab·bō·wṯ,

עַ֥ל

‘al

on

כָּל־

kāl-

יוֹשְׁבֵ֖י

yō·wō·šə·ḇê

the inhabitants

. הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ.

of the lands .

וְכֻתְּת֥וּ

wə·ḵut·tə·ṯū

So was destroyed

גוֹי־

ḡō·w-

､ בְּג֖וֹי

bə·ḡō·w

by nation ､

וְעִ֣יר

wə·‘îr

and city

､ בְּעִ֑יר

bə·‘îr;

by city ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֱלֹהִ֥ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

הֲמָמָ֖ם

hă·mā·mām

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

with every

. צָרָֽה׃

ṣā·rāh.

וְאַתֶּ֣ם

wə·’at·tem

But you

חִזְק֔וּ

ḥiz·qū,

וְאַל־

wə·’al-

and not

– יִרְפּ֖וּ

yir·pū

do let be weak –

יְדֵיכֶ֑ם

yə·ḏê·ḵem;

כִּ֛י

kî

יֵ֥שׁ

yêš

שָׂכָ֖ר

śā·ḵār

. לִפְעֻלַּתְכֶֽם׃

lip̄·‘ul·laṯ·ḵem.

､ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים

הָאֵ֗לֶּה

וְהַנְּבוּאָה֮

wə·han·nə·ḇū·’āh

and the prophecy

עֹדֵ֣ד

‘ō·ḏêḏ

､ הַנָּבִיא֒

han·nā·ḇî

the prophet ､

､ הִתְחַזַּ֗ק

hiṯ·ḥaz·zaq,

he took courage ､

וַיַּעֲבֵ֤ר

way·ya·‘ă·ḇêr

הַשִּׁקּוּצִים֙

haš·šiq·qū·ṣîm

the abominable idols

מִכָּל־

mik·kāl

אֶ֤רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the land

יְהוּדָה֙

yə·hū·ḏāh

､ וּבִנְיָמִ֔ן

ū·ḇin·yā·min,

and Benjamin ､

וּמִן־

ū·min-

and from

הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים

he·‘ā·rîm,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

לָכַ֖ד

lā·ḵaḏ

מֵהַ֣ר

mê·har

in the mountains

､ אֶפְרָ֑יִם

’ep̄·rā·yim;

of Ephraim ､

וַיְחַדֵּשׁ֙

way·ḥad·dêš

and he restored

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מִזְבַּ֣ח

miz·baḥ

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

אֲשֶׁ֕ר

’ă·šer

לִפְנֵ֖י

lip̄·nê

אוּלָ֥ם

’ū·lām

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וַיִּקְבֹּ֗ץ

way·yiq·bōṣ,

And he gathered

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

יְהוּדָה֙

yə·hū·ḏāh

､ וּבִנְיָמִ֔ן

ū·ḇin·yā·min,

and Benjamin ､

וְהַגָּרִים֙

wə·hag·gā·rîm

and those who dwelt

עִמָּהֶ֔ם

‘im·mā·hem,

with them

מֵאֶפְרַ֥יִם

mê·’ep̄·ra·yim

､ וּמְנַשֶּׁ֖ה

ū·mə·naš·šeh

and Manasseh ､

וּמִשִּׁמְע֑וֹן

ū·miš·šim·‘ō·wn;

כִּֽי־

kî-

נָפְל֨וּ

nā·p̄ə·lū

עָלָ֤יו

‘ā·lāw

to him

מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל֙

mî·yiś·rā·’êl

､ לָרֹ֔ב

lā·rōḇ,

in great numbers ､

בִּרְאֹתָ֕ם

bir·’ō·ṯām

כִּֽי־

kî-

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהָ֖יו

’ĕ·lō·hāw

. עִמּֽוֹ׃

‘im·mōw.

with him .

וַיִּקָּבְצ֥וּ

way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū

So they gathered together

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

､ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ

in the month ､

הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י

haš·šə·lî·šî;

לִשְׁנַ֥ת

liš·naṯ

in the year

חֲמֵשׁ־

ḥă·mêš-

עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה

‘eś·rêh

[and] ten

לְמַלְכ֥וּת

lə·mal·ḵūṯ

of the reign

. אָסָֽא׃

’ā·sā.

וַיִּזְבְּח֤וּ

way·yiz·bə·ḥū

And they offered

לַיהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

at time ､

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

מִן־

min-

הַשָּׁלָ֖ל

haš·šā·lāl

､ הֵבִ֑יאוּ

hê·ḇî·’ū;

they had brought ､

בָּקָר֙

bā·qār

שְׁבַ֣ע

šə·ḇa‘

מֵא֔וֹת

mê·’ō·wṯ,

וְצֹ֖אן

wə·ṣōn

שִׁבְעַ֥ת

šiḇ·‘aṯ

. אֲלָפִֽים׃

’ă·lā·p̄îm.

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

And they entered

בַבְּרִ֔ית

ḇab·bə·rîṯ,

into a covenant

לִדְר֕וֹשׁ

liḏ·rō·wōš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem;

of their fathers

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

with all

לְבָבָ֖ם

lə·ḇā·ḇām

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

and with all

– נַפְשָֽׁם׃

וְכֹ֨ל

wə·ḵōl

and

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

’ă·šer

לֹֽא־

יִדְרֹ֛שׁ

לַיהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵֽי־

､ יוּמָ֑ת

was to be put to death ､

לְמִן־

קָטֹן֙

וְעַד־

לְמֵאִ֖ישׁ

וְעַד־

or

. אִשָּֽׁה׃

’iš·šāh.

וַיִּשָּֽׁבְעוּ֙

way·yiš·šā·ḇə·‘ū

And they took an oath

לַיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

､ בְּק֥וֹל

bə·qō·wl

with a voice ､

גָּד֖וֹל

gā·ḏō·wl

､ וּבִתְרוּעָ֑ה

ū·ḇiṯ·rū·‘āh;

and with shouting ､

､ וּבַחֲצֹצְר֖וֹת

ū·ḇa·ḥă·ṣō·ṣə·rō·wṯ

and trumpets ､

. וּבְשׁוֹפָרֽוֹת׃

ū·ḇə·šō·w·p̄ā·rō·wṯ.

and rams' horns .

וַיִּשְׂמְח֨וּ

way·yiś·mə·ḥū

כָל־

ḵāl

יְהוּדָ֜ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

עַל־

‘al-

at

､ הַשְּׁבוּעָ֗ה

haš·šə·ḇū·‘āh,

the oath ､

כִּ֤י

kî

בְכָל־

ḇə·ḵāl-

with all

､ לְבָבָם֙

lə·ḇā·ḇām

their heart ､

נִשְׁבָּ֔עוּ

niš·bā·‘ū,

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

and with all

– רְצוֹנָ֣ם

rə·ṣō·w·nām

בִּקְשֻׁ֔הוּ

biq·šu·hū,

וַיִּמָּצֵ֖א

way·yim·mā·ṣê

and He was found

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

וַיָּ֧נַח

way·yā·naḥ

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

. מִסָּבִֽיב׃

mis·sā·ḇîḇ.

וְגַֽם־

wə·ḡam-

And

מַעֲכָ֞ה

ma·‘ă·ḵāh

אֵ֣ם ׀

’êm

the mother of

אָסָ֣א

’ā·sā

､ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

הֱסִירָהּ֙

hĕ·sî·rāh

､ מִגְּבִירָ֔ה

mig·gə·ḇî·rāh,

from [being] queen mother ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשְׂתָ֥ה

‘ā·śə·ṯāh

､ לַאֲשֵׁרָ֖ה

la·’ă·šê·rāh

of Asherah ､

מִפְלָ֑צֶת

mip̄·lā·ṣeṯ;

an obscene image

וַיִּכְרֹ֤ת

way·yiḵ·rōṯ

אָסָא֙

’ā·sā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ מִפְלַצְתָּ֔הּ

mip̄·laṣ·tāh,

her obscene image ､

וַיָּ֕דֶק

way·yā·ḏeq

וַיִּשְׂרֹ֖ף

way·yiś·rōp̄

and burned [it]

בְּנַ֥חַל

bə·na·ḥal

by the Brook

. קִדְרֽוֹן׃

qiḏ·rō·wn.

וְהַ֨בָּמ֔וֹת

wə·hab·bā·mō·wṯ,

But the high places

לֹא־

lō-

not

סָ֖רוּ

מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

mî·yiś·rā·’êl;

לְבַב־

וְקָֽדָשָׁ֖יו

wə·qā·ḏā·šāw

that he himself had dedicated

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

of God

､ כֶּ֥סֶף

ke·sep̄

､ וְזָהָ֖ב

wə·zā·hāḇ

and gold ､

. וְכֵלִֽים׃

wə·ḵê·lîm.

וּמִלְחָמָ֖ה

And war
