מֵעַ֤ל

､ מִשְׁכָּבוֹ֙

miš·kā·ḇōw

וַיִּתְהַלֵּךְ֙

way·yiṯ·hal·lêḵ

עַל־

‘al-

on

גַּ֣ג

gaḡ

the roof

､ בֵּית־

bêṯ-

of house ､

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

of the king

וַיַּ֥רְא

way·yar

and he saw

אִשָּׁ֛ה

’iš·šāh

רֹחֶ֖צֶת

rō·ḥe·ṣeṯ

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

הַגָּ֑ג

hag·gāḡ;

the roof

וְהָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

wə·hā·’iš·šāh,

and the woman [was]

טוֹבַ֥ת

ṭō·w·ḇaṯ

מַרְאֶ֖ה

mar·’eh

. מְאֹֽד׃

mə·’ōḏ.

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

way·yiš·laḥ

דָּוִ֔ד

dā·wiḏ,

וַיִּדְרֹ֖שׁ

way·yiḏ·rōš

. לָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה

lā·’iš·šāh;

about the woman .

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

And [someone] said ､

הֲלוֹא־

[Is] not

זֹאת֙

בַּת־

baṯ-

､ שֶׁ֣בַע

בַּת־

､ אֱלִיעָ֔ם

’ĕ·lî·‘ām,

of Eliam ､

אֵ֖שֶׁת

the wife

אוּרִיָּ֥ה

’ū·rî·yāh

؟ הַחִתִּֽי׃

ha·ḥit·tî.

the Hittite ؟

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩

way·yiš·laḥ

and sent

דָּוִ֨ד

､ מַלְאָכִ֜ים

mal·’ā·ḵîm

וַיִּקָּחֶ֗הָ

way·yiq·qā·ḥe·hā,

וַתָּב֤וֹא

wat·tā·ḇō·w

אֵלָיו֙

’ê·lāw

to him

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב

way·yiš·kaḇ

and he lay

– עִמָּ֔הּ

‘im·māh,

with her –

וְהִ֥יא

wə·hî

מִתְקַדֶּ֖שֶׁת

miṯ·qad·de·šeṯ

､ מִטֻּמְאָתָ֑הּ

miṭ·ṭum·’ā·ṯāh;

from her impurity ､

וַתָּ֖שָׁב

wat·tā·šāḇ

and she returned

אֶל־

’el-

to

. בֵּיתָֽהּ׃

bê·ṯāh.

､ וַתַּ֖הַר

wat·ta·har

And conceived ､

הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה

hā·’iš·šāh;

וַתִּשְׁלַח֙

wat·tiš·laḥ

וַתַּגֵּ֣ד

wat·tag·gêḏ

and told

､ לְדָוִ֔ד

lə·ḏā·wiḏ,

､ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר

wat·tō·mer

and said ､

הָרָ֥ה

hā·rāh

. אָנֹֽכִי׃

’ā·nō·ḵî.

I [am] .

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

way·yiš·laḥ

And sent

דָּוִד֙

dā·wiḏ

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ יוֹאָ֔ב

yō·w·’āḇ,

Joab ､

שְׁלַ֣ח

šə·laḥ

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

me

אֶת־

. הַחִתִּ֑י

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח

And sent

､ לִשְׁל֤וֹם

of [his] wellbeing ､

יוֹאָב֙

､ וְלִשְׁל֣וֹם

wə·liš·lō·wm

and of the wellbeing ､

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

of the people

וְלִשְׁל֖וֹם

wə·liš·lō·wm

and how prospered

. הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

ham·mil·ḥā·māh.

the war .

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

דָּוִד֙

dā·wiḏ

､ לְא֣וּרִיָּ֔ה

lə·’ū·rî·yāh,

to Uriah ､

רֵ֥ד

rêḏ

､ לְבֵיתְךָ֖

lə·ḇê·ṯə·ḵā

to your house ､

וּרְחַ֣ץ

ū·rə·ḥaṣ

and wash

. רַגְלֶ֑יךָ

raḡ·le·ḵā;

וַיֵּצֵ֤א

way·yê·ṣê

אֽוּרִיָּה֙

’ū·rî·yāh

מִבֵּ֣ית

mib·bêṯ

. הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king's .

אַחֲרָ֖יו

– בַּסֻּכּ֗וֹת

in tents –

וַאדֹנִ֨י

and my lord

､ יוֹאָ֜ב

yō·w·’āḇ

Joab ､

וְעַבְדֵ֤י

wə·‘aḇ·ḏê

and the servants

､ אֲדֹנִ֨י

’ă·ḏō·nî

of my lord ､

עַל־

‘al-

in

פְּנֵ֤י

pə·nê

– הַשָּׂדֶה֙

haś·śā·ḏeh

the fields –

חֹנִ֔ים

ḥō·nîm,

וַאֲנִ֞י

wa·’ă·nî

אָב֧וֹא

’ā·ḇō·w

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ בֵּיתִ֛י

bê·ṯî

my house ､

לֶאֱכֹ֥ל

le·’ĕ·ḵōl

to eat

､ וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת

wə·liš·tō·wṯ

and drink ､

וְלִשְׁכַּ֣ב

wə·liš·kaḇ

and to lie

עִם־

‘im-

with

؟ אִשְׁתִּ֑י

’iš·tî;

my wife ؟

､ חַיֶּ֙ךָ֙

[As] you live ､

､ וְחֵ֣י

and [as] lives ､

נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ

I will do

. אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ

I will let you depart .

וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב

､ בַּיּ֥וֹם

And when called

וְאָ֣מַרְתָּ֔

then you shall say

So went ､

הַמַּלְאָ֑ךְ

וַיָּבֹא֙

and came

וַיַּגֵּ֣ד

way·yag·gêḏ

and told

לְדָוִ֔ד

lə·ḏā·wiḏ,

אֵ֛ת

כָּל־

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

שְׁלָח֖וֹ

And said

הַמַּלְאָךְ֙

כִּֽי־

גָבְר֤וּ

ḡā·ḇə·rū

עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙

the men

וַיֵּצְא֥וּ

אֵלֵ֖ינוּ

to us

､ הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה

in the field ､

וַנִּהְיֶ֥ה

then we drove back

עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

as far as

הַחֲזֵ֨ק

מִלְחַמְתְּךָ֧

mil·ḥam·tə·ḵā

אֶל־

’el-

､ הָעִ֛יר

hā·‘îr

the city ､

וְהָרְסָ֖הּ

wə·hā·rə·sāh

and overthrow it

. וְחַזְּקֵֽהוּ׃

wə·ḥaz·zə·qê·hū.

and encourage him .

וַיַּאַסְפָ֤הּ

and brought her

וַתְּהִי־

､ לְאִשָּׁ֔ה

wife ､

וַתֵּ֥לֶד

and bore

ל֖וֹ

. בֵּ֑ן

bên;

a son .

וַיֵּ֧רַע

way·yê·ra‘

הַדָּבָ֛ר

had·dā·ḇār

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשָׂ֥ה

‘ā·śāh

דָוִ֖ד

ḏā·wiḏ

בְּעֵינֵ֥י

bə·‘ê·nê
