､ וְהִנֵּ֥ה

לִקְרָאת֑וֹ

and with a couple

חֲמֹרִ֜ים

､ חֲבֻשִׁ֗ים

ḥă·ḇu·šîm,

וַעֲלֵיהֶם֩

wa·‘ă·lê·hem

and on them

מָאתַ֨יִם

mā·ṯa·yim

two hundred [loaves]

､ לֶ֜חֶם

le·ḥem

of bread ､

וּמֵאָ֧ה

ū·mê·’āh

､ צִמּוּקִ֛ים

ṣim·mū·qîm

clusters of raisins ､

וּמֵ֥אָה

ū·mê·’āh

､ קַ֖יִץ

qa·yiṣ

summer fruits ､

וְנֵ֥בֶל

wə·nê·ḇel

and a skin

. יָֽיִן׃

yā·yin.

of wine .

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ צִיבָ֖א

ṣî·ḇā

Ziba ､

מָה־

māh-

what [do you mean to do]

؟ אֵ֣לֶּה

’êl·leh

[with] these ؟

לָּ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

to

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

so said ､

צִ֠יבָא

ṣî·ḇā

הַחֲמוֹרִ֨ים

ha·ḥă·mō·w·rîm

the donkeys [are]

לְבֵית־

lə·ḇêṯ-

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

of the king

– לִרְכֹּ֗ב

lir·kōḇ,

to ride on –

[ולהלחם]

ū·lə·hal·le·ḥem

-

(וְהַלֶּ֤חֶם)

wə·hal·le·ḥem

וְהַקַּ֙יִץ֙

wə·haq·qa·yiṣ

and summer fruit

– לֶאֱכ֣וֹל

le·’ĕ·ḵō·wl

to eat –

הַנְּעָרִ֔ים

han·nə·‘ā·rîm,

the for young men

､ וְהַיַּ֕יִן

wə·hay·ya·yin

and the wine ､

לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת

liš·tō·wṯ

הַיָּעֵ֖ף

hay·yā·‘êp̄

those who are faint

. בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

bam·miḏ·bār.

in the wilderness .

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said ､

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king

וְאַיֵּ֖ה

wə·’ay·yêh

and where [is]

؟ בֶּן־

ben-

son ؟

אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā;

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

צִיבָ֜א

ṣî·ḇā

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

､ הִנֵּה֙

hin·nêh

יוֹשֵׁ֣ב

yō·wō·šêḇ

､ בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

bî·rū·šā·lim,

in Jerusalem ､

כִּ֣י

kî

､ אָמַ֔ר

’ā·mar,

he said ､

הַיּ֗וֹם

hay·yō·wm,

יָשִׁ֤יבוּ

לִי֙

to me

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

אֵ֖ת

Here [is] ､

לְךָ֔

צִיבָא֙

הִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֔יתִי

hiš·ta·ḥă·wê·ṯî,

I humbly bow before you

אֶמְצָא־

’em·ṣā-

[that] I may find

חֵ֥ן

ḥên

､ בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā

in your sight ､

､ אֲדֹנִ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nî

my lord ､

and cursing continuously .

וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל

And he

בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙

at

､ דָּוִ֔ד

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and at

כָּל־

kāl-

עַבְדֵ֖י

‘aḇ·ḏê

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

– דָּוִ֑ד

dā·wiḏ;

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

הָעָם֙

hā·‘ām

and all

הַגִּבֹּרִ֔ים

hag·gib·bō·rîm,

the mighty men [were]

מִימִינ֖וֹ

on his right hand

. וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃

and on his left .

וְכֹֽה־

from my own body ､

on my affliction

that will repay

the men

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

to Jerusalem ､

וַאֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל

the men

of Israel ､

I will be ､

וְאִתּ֥וֹ

and with him

I will remain .

､ וְהַשֵּׁנִ֗ית

And the second [reason] ､

לְמִי֙

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

؟ אֶֽעֱבֹ֔ד

’e·‘ĕ·ḇōḏ,

הֲל֖וֹא

hă·lō·w

[Should [I] not [serve]

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

in the presence

؟ בְנ֑וֹ

ḇə·nōw;

of his son ؟

כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

עָבַ֙דְתִּי֙

‘ā·ḇaḏ·tî

､ לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

in presence ､

אָבִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā,

כֵּ֖ן

אֶהְיֶ֥ה

’eh·yeh

will I be

. לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃

in your presence .

And said

בּ֚וֹא

､ פִּלַגְשֵׁ֣י

pi·laḡ·šê

אָבִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

הִנִּ֖יחַ

hin·nî·aḥ

לִשְׁמ֣וֹר

liš·mō·wr

– הַבָּ֑יִת

hab·bā·yiṯ;

the house –

וְשָׁמַ֤ע

wə·šā·ma‘

and will hear

כָּל־

kāl-

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

כִּֽי־

kî-

נִבְאַ֣שְׁתָּ

niḇ·’aš·tā

you are abhorred

אֶת־

’eṯ-

by

. אָבִ֔יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā,

. וְחָ֣זְק֔וּ

wə·ḥā·zə·qū,

And will be strong .

יְדֵ֖י

yə·ḏê

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. אִתָּֽךְ׃

’it·tāḵ.

with you .

וַיַּטּ֧וּ

way·yaṭ·ṭū

So they pitched

לְאַבְשָׁל֛וֹם

הָאֹ֖הֶל

hā·’ō·hel

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַגָּ֑ג

hag·gāḡ;

the top of the house

וַיָּבֹ֤א

way·yā·ḇō

and went in

אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙

’aḇ·šā·lō·wm

אֶל־

’el-

to

פִּֽלַגְשֵׁ֣י

pi·laḡ·šê

אָבִ֔יו

’ā·ḇîw,

לְעֵינֵ֖י

in the sight

כָּל־

of all

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

וַעֲצַ֣ת

wa·‘ă·ṣaṯ

And the advice

､ אֲחִיתֹ֗פֶל

’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el,

of Ahithophel ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

יָעַץ֙

yā·‘aṣ

､ בַּיָּמִ֣ים

bay·yā·mîm

in days ､

הָהֵ֔ם

hā·hêm,

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

[was] as if

יִשְׁאַל־

yiš·’al-

(אִ֖ישׁ)

’îš

בִּדְבַ֣ר

biḏ·ḇar

at the oracle

– הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

of God –

כֵּ֚ן
