Woe to the Complacent in Zion

הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּ֣ים
haš·ša·’ă·nan·nîm
to you [who are] at ease
､ בְּצִיּ֔וֹן
bə·ṣî·yō·wn,
in Zion ､
וְהַבֹּטְחִ֖ים
wə·hab·bō·ṭə·ḥîm
and trust
בְּהַ֣ר
bə·har
､ שֹׁמְר֑וֹן
šō·mə·rō·wn;
נְקֻבֵי֙
nə·qu·ḇê
רֵאשִׁ֣ית
rê·šîṯ
､ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם
hag·gō·w·yim,
the nation ､
! וּבָ֥אוּ
ū·ḇā·’ū
and comes !
לָהֶ֖ם
lā·hem
to whom
בֵּ֥ית
bêṯ
the house
. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
yiś·rā·’êl.
of Israel .

עִבְר֤וּ
‘iḇ·rū
Go over
､ כַֽלְנֵה֙
ḵal·nêh
to Calneh ､
– וּרְא֔וּ
ū·rə·’ū,
and see –
וּלְכ֥וּ
ū·lə·ḵū
and go
מִשָּׁ֖ם
miš·šām
חֲמַ֣ת
ḥă·maṯ
to Hamath the great
､ רַבָּ֑ה
rab·bāh;
great ､
וּרְד֣וּ
ū·rə·ḏū
and go down
גַת־
ḡaṯ-
to Gath
. פְּלִשְׁתּ֗ים‪‬
pə·liš·tm,
of the Philistines .
הֲטוֹבִים֙
hă·ṭō·w·ḇîm
מִן־
min-
؟ הַמַּמְלָכ֣וֹת
ham·mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ
הָאֵ֔לֶּה
hā·’êl·leh,
אִם־
’im-
Or
רַ֥ב
raḇ
גְּבוּלָ֖ם
gə·ḇū·lām
؟ מִגְּבֻלְכֶֽם׃
mig·gə·ḇul·ḵem.

הַֽמְנַדִּ֖ים
ham·nad·dîm
､ לְי֣וֹם
lə·yō·wm
the day ､
רָ֑ע
rā‘;
of doom
– וַתַּגִּישׁ֖וּן
wat·tag·gî·šūn
and who cause to come near –
שֶׁ֥בֶת
še·ḇeṯ
the seat
. חָמָֽס׃
ḥā·mās.

הַשֹּֽׁכְבִים֙
haš·šō·ḵə·ḇîm
עַל־
‘al-
on
מִטּ֣וֹת
miṭ·ṭō·wṯ
､ שֵׁ֔ן
šên,
of ivory ､
וּסְרֻחִ֖ים
ū·sə·ru·ḥîm
עַל־
‘al-
on
､ עַרְשׂוֹתָ֑ם
‘ar·śō·w·ṯām;
וְאֹכְלִ֤ים
wə·’ō·ḵə·lîm
and Eat
כָּרִים֙
kā·rîm
､ מִצֹּ֔אן
miṣ·ṣōn,
from the flock ､
וַעֲגָלִ֖ים
wa·‘ă·ḡā·lîm
and calves
מִתּ֥וֹךְ
mit·tō·wḵ
– מַרְבֵּֽק׃
mar·bêq.
of the stall –

הַפֹּרְטִ֖ים
hap·pō·rə·ṭîm
עַל־
‘al-
to
פִּ֣י
pî
the sound
､ הַנָּ֑בֶל
han·nā·ḇel;
– כְּדָוִ֕יד
kə·ḏā·wîḏ
חָשְׁב֥וּ
ḥā·šə·ḇū
[And] invent
לָהֶ֖ם
lā·hem
כְּלֵי־
kə·lê-
､ שִֽׁיר׃
šîr.

הַשֹּׁתִ֤ים
haš·šō·ṯîm
､ בְּמִזְרְקֵי֙
bə·miz·rə·qê
יַ֔יִן
ya·yin,
וְרֵאשִׁ֥ית
wə·rê·šîṯ
and with the best
､ שְׁמָנִ֖ים
šə·mā·nîm
יִמְשָׁ֑חוּ
yim·šā·ḥū;
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
but not
נֶחְל֖וּ
neḥ·lū
עַל־
‘al-
שֵׁ֥בֶר
šê·ḇer
. יוֹסֵֽף‪‬‪‬
yō·w·sêp̄.
of Joseph .

לָכֵ֛ן

עַתָּ֥ה
‘at·tāh
יִגְל֖וּ
yiḡ·lū
בְּרֹ֣אשׁ
bə·rōš
as the first
､ גֹּלִ֑ים
gō·lîm;
of the captives ､
. וְסָ֖ר
wə·sār
and shall be removed .

､ בְּנַפְשׁ֗וֹ

by Himself ､
נְאֻם־
nə·’um-
יְהוָה֙
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
､ צְבָא֔וֹת
ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,
of hosts ､
מְתָאֵ֤ב
mə·ṯā·’êḇ
אָֽנֹכִי֙
’ā·nō·ḵî
I
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
גְּא֣וֹן
gə·’ō·wn
the pride
､ יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב
ya·‘ă·qōḇ,
of Jacob ､
– וְאַרְמְנֹתָ֖יו
wə·’ar·mə·nō·ṯāw
and his palaces –
שָׂנֵ֑אתִי
śā·nê·ṯî;
וְהִסְגַּרְתִּ֖י
wə·his·gar·tî
therefore I will deliver up
עִ֥יר
‘îr
the city
. וּמְלֹאָֽהּ׃
ū·mə·lō·’āh.
and all that is in it .

､ וְהָיָ֗ה
wə·hā·yāh,
And it shall come to pass ､
אִם־
’im-
if
יִוָּ֨תְר֜וּ
yiw·wā·ṯə·rū
עֲשָׂרָ֧ה
‘ă·śā·rāh
אֲנָשִׁ֛ים
’ă·nā·šîm
､ בְּבַ֥יִת
bə·ḇa·yiṯ
in house ､
אֶחָ֖ד
’e·ḥāḏ
. וָמֵֽתוּ׃
wā·mê·ṯū.
and they shall die .

､ וּנְשָׂא֞וֹ
ū·nə·śā·’ōw
And when picks up ､
דּוֹד֣וֹ
dō·w·ḏōw
a relative [of the dead]
וּמְסָרְפ֗וֹ
ū·mə·sā·rə·p̄ōw,
and with one who will burn [the bodies]
לְהוֹצִ֣יא
lə·hō·w·ṣî
עֲצָמִים֮
‘ă·ṣā·mîm
the bodies
מִן־
min-
､ הַבַּיִת֒
hab·ba·yiṯ
of the house ､
וְאָמַ֞ר
wə·’ā·mar
and he will say
לַאֲשֶׁ֨ר
la·’ă·šer
to one
בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י
bə·yar·kə·ṯê
､ הַבַּ֛יִת
hab·ba·yiṯ
the house ､
הַע֥וֹד
ha·‘ō·wḏ
עִמָּ֖ךְ
‘im·māḵ
with you
､ וְאָמַ֣ר
wə·’ā·mar
and someone will say ､
. אָ֑פֶס
’ā·p̄es;
､ וְאָמַ֣ר
wə·’ā·mar
And he will say ､
– הָ֔ס
hās,
כִּ֛י
kî
לֹ֥א
lō
not
לְהַזְכִּ֖יר
lə·haz·kîr
בְּשֵׁ֥ם
bə·šêm
the name
. יְהוָֽה׃
Yah·weh.
of Yahweh .

behold ､
יְהוָה֙

､ מְצַוֶּ֔ה

וְהִכָּ֛ה

and He will break
הַבַּ֥יִת
hab·ba·yiṯ
the house
הַגָּד֖וֹל
hag·gā·ḏō·wl
､ רְסִיסִ֑ים
rə·sî·sîm;
וְהַבַּ֥יִת
wə·hab·ba·yiṯ
and the house
הַקָּטֹ֖ן
haq·qā·ṭōn
. בְּקִעִֽים׃
bə·qi·‘îm.

הַיְרֻצ֤וּן
hay·ru·ṣūn
Do run
؟ בַּסֶּ֙לַע֙
bas·se·la‘
on rocks ؟
סוּסִ֔ים
sū·sîm,
אִֽם־
’im-
Or
יַחֲר֖וֹשׁ
ya·ḥă·rō·wōš
؟ בַּבְּקָרִ֑ים
bab·bə·qā·rîm;
with oxen ؟
כִּֽי־
kî-
הֲפַכְתֶּ֤ם
hă·p̄aḵ·tem
､ לְרֹאשׁ֙
lə·rōš
מִשְׁפָּ֔ט
miš·pāṭ,
וּפְרִ֥י
ū·p̄ə·rî
and the fruit
צְדָקָ֖ה
ṣə·ḏā·qāh
､ לְלַעֲנָֽה׃
lə·la·‘ă·nāh.

הַשְּׂמֵחִ֖ים
haś·śə·mê·ḥîm
לְלֹ֣א

､ דָבָ֑ר
ḏā·ḇār;
over Lo Debar ､
､ הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים
hā·’ō·mə·rîm,
who say ､
הֲל֣וֹא
hă·lō·w
have not
؟ בְחָזְקֵ֔נוּ
ḇə·ḥā·zə·qê·nū,
לָקַ֥חְנוּ
lā·qaḥ·nū
לָ֖נוּ
lā·nū
. קַרְנָֽיִם׃
qar·nā·yim.

I will raise up
עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

of Israel ､
נְאֻם־
nə·’um-
יְהוָ֛ה
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֵ֥י

– הַצְּבָא֖וֹת
haṣ·ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ
of hosts –
､ גּ֑וֹי
gō·w;
a nation ､
וְלָחֲצ֥וּ
wə·lā·ḥă·ṣū
and they will afflict
אֶתְכֶ֛ם
’eṯ·ḵem
מִלְּב֥וֹא
mil·lə·ḇō·w
חֲמָ֖ת
ḥă·māṯ
עַד־
‘aḏ-
to
נַ֥חַל
na·ḥal
the Valley
. הָעֲרָבָֽה׃
hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh.
