הִרְאַ֖נִי

hir·’a·nî

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְהִנֵּ֖ה

wə·hin·nêh

כְּל֥וּב

kə·lūḇ

. קָֽיִץ׃

qā·yiṣ.

of summer fruit .

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

And He said ､

מָֽה־

māh-

؟ אַתָּ֤ה

’at·tāh

you ؟

רֹאֶה֙

rō·’eh

do see

､ עָמ֔וֹס

‘ā·mō·ws,

Amos ､

､ וָאֹמַ֖ר

wā·’ō·mar

so I said ､

כְּל֣וּב

kə·lūḇ

. קָ֑יִץ

qā·yiṣ;

of summer fruit .

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֗י

’ê·lay,

to me

בָּ֤א

bā

הַקֵּץ֙

haq·qêṣ

the end

אֶל־

’el-

עַמִּ֣י

‘am·mî

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

לֹא־

lō-

not

אוֹסִ֥יף

’ō·w·sîp̄

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

עֲב֥וֹר

‘ă·ḇō·wr

I will pass by

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

וְהֵילִ֜ילוּ

wə·hê·lî·lū

And shall be wailing

שִׁיר֤וֹת

šî·rō·wṯ

הֵיכָל֙

hê·ḵāl

of the temple

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֑ה

Yah·weh;

רַ֣ב

raḇ

הַפֶּ֔גֶר

hap·pe·ḡer,

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

– מָק֖וֹם

mā·qō·wm

הִשְׁלִ֥יךְ

hiš·lîḵ

they shall be thrown out

שִׁמְעוּ־

šim·‘ū-

､ זֹ֕את

zōṯ

this ､

הַשֹּׁאֲפִ֖ים

haš·šō·’ă·p̄îm

you who swallow up

､ אֶבְי֑וֹן

’eḇ·yō·wn;

the needy ､

､ וְלַשְׁבִּ֖ית

wə·laš·bîṯ

and make fail ､

[ענוי־]

‘an·wê-

-

(עֲנִיֵּי־)

‘ă·nî·yê-

the poor

. אָֽרֶץ׃

’ā·reṣ.

of the land .

､ לֵאמֹ֗ר

lê·mōr,

מָתַ֞י

mā·ṯay

､ יַעֲבֹ֤ר

ya·‘ă·ḇōr

will be past ､

הַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙

ha·ḥō·ḏeš

וְנַשְׁבִּ֣ירָה

wə·naš·bî·rāh

that we may sell

؟ שֶּׁ֔בֶר

še·ḇer,

､ וְהַשַּׁבָּ֖ת

wə·haš·šab·bāṯ

and the Sabbath ､

וְנִפְתְּחָה־

wə·nip̄·tə·ḥāh-

that we may trade

､ בָּ֑ר

bār;

לְהַקְטִ֤ין

lə·haq·ṭîn

､ אֵיפָה֙

’ê·p̄āh

the ephah ､

､ וּלְהַגְדִּ֣יל

ū·lə·haḡ·dîl

and large ､

שֶׁ֔קֶל

še·qel,

וּלְעַוֵּ֖ת

ū·lə·‘aw·wêṯ

מֹאזְנֵ֥י

mō·zə·nê

the scales by

؟ מִרְמָֽה׃

mir·māh.

לִקְנ֤וֹת

liq·nō·wṯ

that we may buy

､ בַּכֶּ֙סֶף֙

bak·ke·sep̄

דַּלִּ֔ים

dal·lîm,

the poor

וְאֶבְי֖וֹן

wə·’eḇ·yō·wn

and the needy

בַּעֲב֣וּר

ba·‘ă·ḇūr

– נַעֲלָ֑יִם

na·‘ă·lā·yim;

a pair of sandals –

וּמַפַּ֥ל

ū·map·pal

בַּ֖ר

bar

؟ נַשְׁבִּֽיר׃

naš·bîr.

נִשְׁבַּ֥ע

niš·ba‘

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

בִּגְא֣וֹן

biḡ·’ō·wn

by the pride

､ יַעֲקֹ֑ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

of Jacob ､

אִם־

’im-

אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח

’eš·kaḥ

I will forget

לָנֶ֖צַח

lā·ne·ṣaḥ

כָּל־

kāl-

. מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃

ma·‘ă·śê·hem.

of their works .

הַ֤עַל

ha·‘al

､ זֹאת֙

zōṯ

this ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תִרְגַּ֣ז

ṯir·gaz

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

וְאָבַ֖ל

wə·’ā·ḇal

כָּל־

kāl-

יוֹשֵׁ֣ב

yō·wō·šêḇ

בָּ֑הּ

bāh;

in it

וְעָלְתָ֤ה

wə·‘ā·lə·ṯāh

and shall swell

– כָאֹר֙

ḵā·’ōr

like the Nile –

כֻּלָּ֔הּ

kul·lāh,

all of it

וְנִגְרְשָׁ֥ה

wə·niḡ·rə·šāh

[ונשקה]

wə·niš·qāh

-

､ (וְנִשְׁקְעָ֖ה)

wə·niš·qə·‘āh

and subside ､

כִּיא֥וֹר

kî·’ō·wr

. מִצְרָֽיִם׃

miṣ·rā·yim.

of Egypt .

וְהָיָ֣ה ׀

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֗וּא

ha·hū,

נְאֻם֙

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

､ יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD ､

וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י

wə·hê·ḇê·ṯî

that I will make go down

הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ

haš·še·meš

the sun

､ בַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִם

baṣ·ṣā·ho·rā·yim;

at noon ､

וְהַחֲשַׁכְתִּ֥י

wə·ha·ḥă·šaḵ·tî

and I will darken

לָאָ֖רֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ

בְּי֥וֹם

bə·yō·wm

. אֽוֹר׃

’ō·wr.

וְהָפַכְתִּ֨י

wə·hā·p̄aḵ·tî

And I will turn

חַגֵּיכֶ֜ם

ḥag·gê·ḵem

､ לְאֵ֗בֶל

lə·’ê·ḇel,

into mourning ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

שִֽׁירֵיכֶם֙

šî·rê·ḵem

– לְקִינָ֔ה

lə·qî·nāh,

into lamentation –

וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י

wə·ha·‘ă·lê·ṯî

and I will bring

עַל־

‘al-

on

כָּל־

kāl-

､ מָתְנַ֙יִם֙

mā·ṯə·na·yim

שָׂ֔ק

śāq,

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and on

כָּל־

kāl-

– רֹ֖אשׁ

rōš

head –

קָרְחָ֑ה

qā·rə·ḥāh;

וְשַׂמְתִּ֙יהָ֙

wə·śam·tî·hā

and I will make it

כְּאֵ֣בֶל

kə·’ê·ḇel

like mourning for

יָחִ֔יד

yā·ḥîḏ,

וְאַחֲרִיתָ֖הּ

wə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯāh

כְּי֥וֹם

kə·yō·wm

. מָֽר׃

mār.

､ הִנֵּ֣ה ׀

hin·nêh

יָמִ֣ים

yā·mîm

the days

､ בָּאִ֗ים

bā·’îm,

נְאֻם֙

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

､ יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD ､

וְהִשְׁלַחְתִּ֥י

wə·hiš·laḥ·tî

that I will send

רָעָ֖ב

rā·‘āḇ

､ בָּאָ֑רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ;

on the land ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

Not

רָעָ֤ב

rā·‘āḇ

､ לַלֶּ֙חֶם֙

lal·le·ḥem

of bread ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

צָמָ֣א

ṣā·mā

､ לַמַּ֔יִם

lam·ma·yim,

כִּ֣י

kî

אִם־

’im-

but

לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ

liš·mō·a‘,

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

דִּבְרֵ֥י

diḇ·rê

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְנָעוּ֙

wə·nā·‘ū

And they shall wander

מִיָּ֣ם

mî·yām

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

､ יָ֔ם

yām,

sea ､

וּמִצָּפ֖וֹן

ū·miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and to

､ מִזְרָ֑ח

miz·rāḥ;

east ､

יְשֽׁוֹטְט֛וּ

yə·šō·wṭ·ṭū

they shall run to and fro

לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ

lə·ḇaq·qêš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

דְּבַר־

də·ḇar-

the word

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

but not

. יִמְצָֽאוּ׃

yim·ṣā·’ū.

shall find [it] .

בַּיּ֨וֹם

bay·yō·wm

In day

הַה֜וּא

ha·hū

תִּ֠תְעַלַּפְנָה

tiṯ·‘al·lap̄·nāh

הַבְּתוּלֹ֧ת

hab·bə·ṯū·lōṯ

הַיָּפ֛וֹת

hay·yā·p̄ō·wṯ

וְהַבַּחוּרִ֖ים

wə·hab·ba·ḥū·rîm

and [strong] young men

. בַּצָּמָֽא׃

baṣ·ṣā·mā.

הַנִּשְׁבָּעִים֙

han·niš·bā·‘îm

Those who swear

בְּאַשְׁמַ֣ת

bə·’aš·maṯ

by the sin

､ שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן

šō·mə·rō·wn,

of Samaria ､

､ וְאָמְר֗וּ

wə·’ā·mə·rū,

and who say ､

– חֵ֤י

ḥê

as lives –

､ אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

､ דָּ֔ן

dān,

Dan ､

– וְחֵ֖י

wə·ḥê

and as lives –

דֶּ֣רֶךְ

de·reḵ

the way

בְּאֵֽר־

bə·’êr-

of

שָׁ֑בַע

šā·ḇa‘;

､ וְנָפְל֖וּ

wə·nā·p̄ə·lū

and they shall fall ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

יָק֥וּמוּ

yā·qū·mū

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.
