And I
בִּשְׁנַ֣ת
biš·naṯ
in the year
אַחַ֔ת
’a·ḥaṯ,
לְדָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ
lə·ḏā·rə·yā·weš
､ הַמָּדִ֑י
ham·mā·ḏî;
the Mede ､
עָמְדִ֛י
‘ā·mə·ḏî
[even] I stood up
לְמַחֲזִ֥יק
lə·ma·ḥă·zîq
וּלְמָע֖וֹז
ū·lə·mā·‘ō·wz
. לֽוֹ׃
lōw.
him .

וְעַתָּ֕ה
wə·‘at·tāh
. אֱמֶ֖ת
’ĕ·meṯ
the truth .
אַגִּ֣יד
’ag·gîḏ
I will tell
לָ֑ךְ
lāḵ;
､ הִנֵּה־
hin·nêh-
behold ､
עוֹד֩
‘ō·wḏ
שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה
šə·lō·šāh
מְלָכִ֜ים
mə·lā·ḵîm
עֹמְדִ֣ים
‘ō·mə·ḏîm
will arise
– לְפָרַ֗ס
lə·p̄ā·ras,
in Persia –
וְהָֽרְבִיעִי֙
wə·hā·rə·ḇî·‘î
and the fourth
יַעֲשִׁ֤יר
ya·‘ă·šîr
עֹֽשֶׁר־
‘ō·šer-
גָּדוֹל֙
gā·ḏō·wl
– מִכֹּ֔ל
mik·kōl,
than [them] all –
וּכְחֶזְקָת֣וֹ
ū·ḵə·ḥez·qā·ṯōw
and by his strength
בְעָשְׁר֔וֹ
ḇə·‘ā·šə·rōw,
יָעִ֣יר
yā·‘îr
he shall stir up
הַכֹּ֔ל
hak·kōl,
אֵ֖ת
’êṯ
מַלְכ֥וּת
mal·ḵūṯ
the realm
. יָוָֽן׃
yā·wān.
of Greece .

､ וְעָמַ֖ד
wə·‘ā·maḏ
And shall arise ､
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
גִּבּ֑וֹר
gib·bō·wr;
וּמָשַׁל֙
ū·mā·šal
､ מִמְשָׁ֣ל
mim·šāl
with dominion ､
רַ֔ב
raḇ,
וְעָשָׂ֖ה
wə·‘ā·śāh
and do
. כִּרְצוֹנֽוֹ׃
kir·ṣō·w·nōw.
according to his will .

､ וּכְעָמְדוֹ֙
ū·ḵə·‘ā·mə·ḏōw
And when he has arisen ､
､ תִּשָּׁבֵ֣ר
tiš·šā·ḇêr
shall be broken up ､
מַלְכוּת֔וֹ
mal·ḵū·ṯōw,
וְתֵחָ֕ץ
wə·ṯê·ḥāṣ
לְאַרְבַּ֖ע
lə·’ar·ba‘
רוּח֣וֹת
rū·ḥō·wṯ
the winds
– הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם
haš·šā·mā·yim;
of heaven –
וְלֹ֣א
wə·lō
but not
､ לְאַחֲרִית֗וֹ
lə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯōw,
וְלֹ֤א
wə·lō
כְמָשְׁלוֹ֙
ḵə·mā·šə·lōw
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
with which
､ מָשָׁ֔ל
mā·šāl,
he ruled ､
כִּ֤י
kî
､ תִנָּתֵשׁ֙
ṯin·nā·ṯêš
מַלְכוּת֔וֹ
mal·ḵū·ṯōw,
וְלַאֲחֵרִ֖ים
wə·la·’ă·ḥê·rîm
מִלְּבַד־
mil·lə·ḇaḏ-
. אֵֽלֶּה׃
’êl·leh.

､ וְיֶחֱזַ֥ק
wə·ye·ḥĕ·zaq
מֶֽלֶךְ־
me·leḵ-
the king
הַנֶּ֖גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ
of the south
וּמִן־
ū·min-
and as well as [one]
– שָׂרָ֑יו
śā·rāw;
of his princes –
וְיֶחֱזַ֤ק
wə·ye·ḥĕ·zaq
עָלָיו֙
‘ā·lāw
– וּמָשָׁ֔ל
ū·mā·šāl,
and have dominion –
מִמְשָׁ֥ל
mim·šāl
רַ֖ב
raḇ
. מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃
mem·šal·tōw.

וּלְקֵ֤ץ
ū·lə·qêṣ
And at the end
שָׁנִים֙
šā·nîm
of [some] years
– יִתְחַבָּ֔רוּ
yiṯ·ḥab·bā·rū,
וּבַ֣ת
ū·ḇaṯ
מֶֽלֶךְ־
me·leḵ-
of the king
הַנֶּ֗גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
of the south
תָּבוֹא֙
tā·ḇō·w
אֶל־
’el-
to
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַצָּפ֔וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
of the North
לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת
la·‘ă·śō·wṯ
to make
– מֵישָׁרִ֑ים
mê·šā·rîm;
an agreement –
וְלֹֽא־
wə·lō-
but not
תַעְצֹ֞ר
ṯa‘·ṣōr
כּ֣וֹחַ
kō·w·aḥ
the power
– הַזְּר֗וֹעַ
haz·zə·rō·w·a‘,
of her authority –
וְלֹ֤א
wə·lō
､ יַעֲמֹד֙
ya·‘ă·mōḏ
he shall stand ､
､ וּזְרֹע֔וֹ
ū·zə·rō·‘ōw,
､ וְתִנָּתֵ֨ן
wə·ṯin·nā·ṯên
but shall be given up ､
הִ֤יא
hî
וּמְבִיאֶ֙יהָ֙
ū·mə·ḇî·’e·hā
and with those who brought her
וְהַיֹּ֣לְדָ֔הּ
wə·hay·yō·lə·ḏāh,
and with him who begat her
וּמַחֲזִקָ֖הּ
ū·ma·ḥă·zi·qāh
. בָּעִתִּֽים׃
bā·‘it·tîm.
in [those] times .

וְעָמַ֛ד
wə·‘ā·maḏ
מִנֵּ֥צֶר
min·nê·ṣer
שָׁרָשֶׁ֖יהָ
šā·rā·še·hā
､ כַּנּ֑וֹ
kan·nōw;
in his place ､
וְיָבֹ֣א
wə·yā·ḇō
אֶל־
’el-
with
､ הַחַ֗יִל
ha·ḥa·yil,
an army ､
וְיָבֹא֙
wə·yā·ḇō
and enter
בְּמָעוֹז֙
bə·mā·‘ō·wz
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
of the king
､ הַצָּפ֔וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
of the North ､
וְעָשָׂ֥ה
wə·‘ā·śāh
and deal
בָהֶ֖ם
ḇā·hem
with them
– וְהֶחֱזִֽיק׃
wə·he·ḥĕ·zîq.
and prevail –

וְגַ֣ם
wə·ḡam
and also
､ אֱ‍ֽלֹהֵיהֶ֡ם
’ĕlō·hê·hem
עִם־
‘im-
with
､ נְסִֽכֵיהֶם֩
nə·si·ḵê·hem
עִם־
‘im-
with
כְּלֵ֨י
kə·lê
[and] articles
חֶמְדָּתָ֜ם
ḥem·dā·ṯām
כֶּ֧סֶף
ke·sep̄
– וְזָהָ֛ב
wə·zā·hāḇ
and gold –
בַּשְּׁבִ֖י
baš·šə·ḇî
יָבִ֣א
yā·ḇi
מִצְרָ֑יִם
miṣ·rā·yim;
וְהוּא֙
wə·hū
and he
שָׁנִ֣ים
šā·nîm
יַעֲמֹ֔ד
ya·‘ă·mōḏ,
מִמֶּ֖לֶךְ
mim·me·leḵ
. הַצָּפֽוֹן׃
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn
of the North .

וּבָ֗א
ū·ḇā,
And [the king of the North] shall come
､ בְּמַלְכוּת֙
bə·mal·ḵūṯ
to the kingdom ､
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
of the king
הַנֶּ֔גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
of the south
וְשָׁ֖ב
wə·šāḇ
אֶל־
’el-
to
. אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃
’aḏ·mā·ṯōw.

[ובנו]
ū·ḇə·nōw
-
(וּבָנָ֣יו)
ū·ḇā·nāw
､ יִתְגָּר֗וּ
yiṯ·gā·rū,
וְאָסְפוּ֙
wə·’ā·sə·p̄ū
הֲמוֹן֙
hă·mō·wn
– חֲיָלִ֣ים
ḥă·yā·lîm
of forces –
רַבִּ֔ים
rab·bîm,
וּבָ֥א
ū·ḇā
and [one] shall come
､ ב֖וֹא
ḇō·w
surely ､
､ וְשָׁטַ֣ף
wə·šā·ṭap̄
and overwhelm ､
– וְעָבָ֑ר
wə·‘ā·ḇār;
and pass through –
､ וְיָשֹׁ֥ב
wə·yā·šōḇ
[ויתגרו]
wə·yiṯ·gā·rū
-
､ (וְיִתְגָּרֶ֖ה)
wə·yiṯ·gā·reh
and stir up strife ､
עַד־
‘aḏ-
to
[מעזה]
mā·‘uz·zāh
-
. (מָעֻזּֽוֹ׃)
mā·‘uz·zōw.

､ וְיִתְמַרְמַר֙
wə·yiṯ·mar·mar
And shall be moved with rage ､
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַנֶּ֔גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
of the south
וְיָצָ֕א
wə·yā·ṣā
and go out
וְנִלְחַ֥ם
wə·nil·ḥam
and fight
עִמּ֖וֹ
‘im·mōw
with him
עִם־
‘im-
with
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
. הַצָּפ֑וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn;
of the North .
וְהֶעֱמִיד֙
wə·he·‘ĕ·mîḏ
– הָמ֣וֹן
hā·mō·wn
a multitude –
רָ֔ב
rāḇ,
וְנִתַּ֥ן
wə·nit·tan
but shall be given
הֶהָמ֖וֹן
he·hā·mō·wn
. בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
bə·yā·ḏōw.
into the hand of his [enemy] .

וְנִשָּׂ֥א
wə·niś·śā
､ הֶהָמ֖וֹן
he·hā·mō·wn
the multitude ､
[ירום]
yā·rūm
-
– (וְרָ֣ם)
wə·rām
will be lifted up –
לְבָב֑וֹ
lə·ḇā·ḇōw;
וְהִפִּ֛יל
wə·hip·pîl
and he will cast down
– רִבֹּא֖וֹת
rib·bō·’ō·wṯ
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
but not
. יָעֽוֹז׃
yā·‘ō·wz.
he will prevail .

､ וְשָׁב֙
wə·šāḇ
For will return ､
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַצָּפ֔וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
of the North
וְהֶעֱמִ֣יד
wə·he·‘ĕ·mîḏ
and muster
הָמ֔וֹן
hā·mō·wn,
רַ֖ב
raḇ
מִן־
min-
､ הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן
hā·ri·šō·wn;
the former ､
וּלְקֵ֨ץ
ū·lə·qêṣ
and at the end
הָֽעִתִּ֤ים
hā·‘it·tîm
of some
שָׁנִים֙
šā·nîm
יָ֣בוֹא
yā·ḇō·w
ב֔וֹא
ḇō·w,
בְּחַ֥יִל
bə·ḥa·yil
with army
גָּד֖וֹל
gā·ḏō·wl
וּבִרְכ֥וּשׁ
ū·ḇir·ḵūš
. רָֽב׃

וּבָעִתִּ֣ים
ū·ḇā·‘it·tîm
And in times
הָהֵ֔ם
hā·hêm,
רַבִּ֥ים
rab·bîm
יַֽעַמְד֖וּ
ya·‘am·ḏū
עַל־
‘al-
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
– הַנֶּ֑גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ;
of the south –
וּבְנֵ֣י ׀
ū·ḇə·nê
and
פָּרִיצֵ֣י
pā·rî·ṣê
עַמְּךָ֗
‘am·mə·ḵā,
יִֽנַּשְּׂא֛וּ
yin·naś·śə·’ū
לְהַעֲמִ֥יד
lə·ha·‘ă·mîḏ
– חָז֖וֹן
ḥā·zō·wn
of the vision –
. וְנִכְשָֽׁלוּ׃
wə·niḵ·šā·lū.

､ וְיָבֹא֙
wə·yā·ḇō
So shall come ､
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַצָּפ֔וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
of the North
וְיִשְׁפֹּךְ֙
wə·yiš·pōḵ
and build
､ סֽוֹלֲלָ֔ה
sō·w·lă·lāh,
a siege mound ､
וְלָכַ֖ד
wə·lā·ḵaḏ
and take
– עִ֣יר
‘îr
a city –
מִבְצָר֑וֹת
miḇ·ṣā·rō·wṯ;
וּזְרֹע֤וֹת
ū·zə·rō·‘ō·wṯ
and the forces
הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙
han·ne·ḡeḇ
of the south
לֹ֣א
lō
not
､ יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ
ya·‘ă·mō·ḏū,
､ וְעַם֙
wə·‘am
and Even troops ､
מִבְחָרָ֔יו
miḇ·ḥā·rāw,
וְאֵ֥ין
wə·’ên
and [shall have] no
כֹּ֖חַ
kō·aḥ
. לַעֲמֹֽד׃
la·‘ă·mōḏ.
to resist .

וְיַ֨עַשׂ
wə·ya·‘aś
But shall do
הַבָּ֤א
hab·bā
אֵלָיו֙
’ê·lāw
､ כִּרְצוֹנ֔וֹ
kir·ṣō·w·nōw,
according to his own will ､
וְאֵ֥ין
wə·’ên
and no one
עוֹמֵ֖ד
‘ō·w·mêḏ
לְפָנָ֑יו
lə·p̄ā·nāw;
וְיַעֲמֹ֥ד
wə·ya·‘ă·mōḏ
and He shall stand
､ בְּאֶֽרֶץ־
bə·’e·reṣ-
in Land ､
הַצְּבִ֖י
haṣ·ṣə·ḇî
וְכָלָ֥ה
wə·ḵā·lāh
and with destruction
. בְיָדֽוֹ׃
ḇə·yā·ḏōw.
in his power .

וְיָשֵׂ֣ם ׀
wə·yā·śêm
And He shall set
פָּ֠נָיו
pā·nāw
לָב֞וֹא
lā·ḇō·w
בְּתֹ֧קֶף
bə·ṯō·qep̄
with the strength
כָּל־
kāl-
､ מַלְכוּת֛וֹ
mal·ḵū·ṯōw
וִישָׁרִ֥ים
wî·šā·rîm
עִמּ֖וֹ
‘im·mōw
with him
– וְעָשָׂ֑ה
wə·‘ā·śāh;
thus shall he do –
וּבַ֤ת
ū·ḇaṯ
and the daughter
､ הַנָּשִׁים֙
han·nā·šîm
of women ､
יִתֶּן־
yit·ten-
ל֣וֹ
lōw
לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֔הּ
lə·haš·ḥî·ṯāh,
to destroy it
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
but not
תַעֲמֹ֖ד
ṯa·‘ă·mōḏ
וְלֹא־
wə·lō-
or
ל֥וֹ
lōw
. תִהְיֶֽה׃
ṯih·yeh.

[וישב]

(וְיָשֵׂ֧ם ׀)

פָּנָ֛יו

､ לְאִיִּ֖ים

to the coastlands ､
וְלָכַ֣ד
wə·lā·ḵaḏ
. רַבִּ֑ים
rab·bîm;
– וְהִשְׁבִּ֨ית
wə·hiš·bîṯ
But shall bring to an end –
קָצִ֤ין
qā·ṣîn
חֶרְפָּתוֹ֙
ḥer·pā·ṯōw
ל֔וֹ
lōw,
בִּלְתִּ֥י
bil·tî
חֶרְפָּת֖וֹ
ḥer·pā·ṯōw
יָשִׁ֥יב
yā·šîḇ
. לֽוֹ׃
lōw.
on him .

וְיָשֵׁ֣ב
wə·yā·šêḇ
And he shall turn
פָּנָ֔יו
pā·nāw,
לְמָעוּזֵּ֖י
lə·mā·‘ūz·zê
､ אַרְצ֑וֹ
’ar·ṣōw;
of his own land ､
וְנִכְשַׁ֥ל
wə·niḵ·šal
but he shall stumble
､ וְנָפַ֖ל
wə·nā·p̄al
and fall ､
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
and not
. יִמָּצֵֽא׃
yim·mā·ṣê.
be found .

וְעָמַ֧ד
wə·‘ā·maḏ
עַל־
‘al-
in
כַּנּ֛וֹ
kan·nōw
מַעֲבִ֥יר
ma·‘ă·ḇîr
נוֹגֵ֖שׂ
nō·w·ḡêś
הֶ֣דֶר
he·ḏer
– מַלְכ֑וּת
mal·ḵūṯ;
[on] the kingdom –
וּבְיָמִ֤ים
ū·ḇə·yā·mîm
אֲחָדִים֙
’ă·ḥā·ḏîm
､ יִשָּׁבֵ֔ר
yiš·šā·ḇêr,
he shall be destroyed ､
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
but not
､ בְאַפַּ֖יִם
ḇə·’ap·pa·yim
in anger ､
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
or
. בְמִלְחָמָֽה׃
ḇə·mil·ḥā·māh.
in battle .

וְעָמַ֤ד
wə·‘ā·maḏ
עַל־
‘al-
in
כַּנּוֹ֙
kan·nōw
､ נִבְזֶ֔ה
niḇ·zeh,
a vile person ､
וְלֹא־
wə·lō-
and not
נָתְנ֥וּ
nā·ṯə·nū
they will give
עָלָ֖יו
‘ā·lāw
to whom
ה֣וֹד
hō·wḏ
the honor
– מַלְכ֑וּת
mal·ḵūṯ;
of royalty –
וּבָ֣א
ū·ḇā
but he shall come in
､ בְשַׁלְוָ֔ה
ḇə·šal·wāh,
וְהֶחֱזִ֥יק
wə·he·ḥĕ·zîq
and seize
מַלְכ֖וּת
mal·ḵūṯ
. בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃
ba·ḥă·laq·laq·qō·wṯ.

וּזְרֹע֥וֹת
ū·zə·rō·‘ō·wṯ
And with the force
הַשֶּׁ֛טֶף
haš·še·ṭep̄
of a flood
יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ
yiš·šā·ṭə·p̄ū
מִלְּפָנָ֖יו
mil·lə·p̄ā·nāw
– וְיִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ
wə·yiš·šā·ḇê·rū;
and be broken –
וְגַ֖ם
wə·ḡam
and also
נְגִ֥יד
nə·ḡîḏ
the prince
. בְּרִֽית׃
bə·rîṯ.
of the covenant .

וּמִן־
ū·min-
And after
הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת
hiṯ·ḥab·bə·rūṯ
the league [is made]
אֵלָ֖יו
’ê·lāw
with him
יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה
ya·‘ă·śeh
､ מִרְמָ֑ה
mir·māh;
､ וְעָלָ֥ה
wə·‘ā·lāh
for he shall come up ､
וְעָצַ֖ם
wə·‘ā·ṣam
בִּמְעַט־
bim·‘aṭ-
with small
. גּֽוֹי׃
gō·w.
a [number of] people .

בְּשַׁלְוָ֞ה
bə·šal·wāh
וּבְמִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י
ū·ḇə·miš·man·nê
– מְדִינָה֮
mə·ḏî·nāh
of the province –
יָבוֹא֒
yā·ḇō·w
וְעָשָׂ֗ה
wə·‘ā·śāh,
and he shall do
אֲשֶׁ֨ר
’ă·šer
לֹא־
lō-
not
､ עָשׂ֤וּ
‘ā·śū
אֲבֹתָיו֙
’ă·ḇō·ṯāw
וַאֲב֣וֹת
wa·’ă·ḇō·wṯ
– אֲבֹתָ֔יו
’ă·ḇō·ṯāw,
his –
､ בִּזָּ֧ה
biz·zāh
the plunder ､
､ וְשָׁלָ֛ל
wə·šā·lāl
and spoil ､
– וּרְכ֖וּשׁ
ū·rə·ḵūš
and riches –
לָהֶ֣ם
lā·hem
יִבְז֑וֹר
yiḇ·zō·wr;
וְעַ֧ל
wə·‘al
､ מִבְצָרִ֛ים
miḇ·ṣā·rîm
the strongholds ､
יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב
yə·ḥaš·šêḇ
and he shall devise
מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖יו
maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯāw
וְעַד־
wə·‘aḏ-
but [only] for
. עֵֽת׃
‘êṯ.
a time .

וְיָעֵר֩
wə·yā·‘êr
And He shall stir up
כֹּח֨וֹ
kō·ḥōw
וּלְבָב֜וֹ
ū·lə·ḇā·ḇōw
עַל־
‘al-
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַנֶּגֶב֮
han·ne·ḡeḇ
of the south
– בְּחַ֣יִל
bə·ḥa·yil
with army –
גָּדוֹל֒
gā·ḏō·wl
וּמֶ֣לֶךְ
ū·me·leḵ
and the king
הַנֶּ֗גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
of the south
יִתְגָּרֶה֙
yiṯ·gā·reh
לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה
lam·mil·ḥā·māh,
– בְּחַֽיִל־
bə·ḥa·yil-
with army –
גָּד֥וֹל
gā·ḏō·wl
וְעָצ֖וּם
wə·‘ā·ṣūm
and mighty
עַד־
‘aḏ-
with a very
מְאֹ֑ד
mə·’ōḏ;
וְלֹ֣א
wə·lō
but not
､ יַעֲמֹ֔ד
ya·‘ă·mōḏ,
he shall stand ､
כִּֽי־
kî-
יַחְשְׁב֥וּ
yaḥ·šə·ḇū
עָלָ֖יו
‘ā·lāw
. מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת׃
ma·ḥă·šā·ḇō·wṯ.

וְאֹכְלֵ֧י
wə·’ō·ḵə·lê
פַת־

בָּג֛וֹ
bā·ḡōw
יִשְׁבְּר֖וּהוּ
yiš·bə·rū·hū
וְחֵיל֣וֹ
wə·ḥê·lōw
and his army
､ יִשְׁט֑וֹף
yiš·ṭō·wp̄;
וְנָפְל֖וּ
wə·nā·p̄ə·lū
חֲלָלִ֥ים
ḥă·lā·lîm
. רַבִּֽים׃
rab·bîm.

וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֤ם

And the two
הַמְּלָכִים֙

– שֻׁלְחָ֥ן

table –
אֶחָ֖ד
’e·ḥāḏ
כָּזָ֣ב
kā·zāḇ
יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ
yə·ḏab·bê·rū;
וְלֹ֣א
wə·lō
but not
､ תִצְלָ֔ח
ṯiṣ·lāḥ,
it shall prosper ､
כִּי־
kî-
ע֥וֹד
‘ō·wḏ
קֵ֖ץ
qêṣ
the end [will be]
. לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃
lam·mō·w·‘êḏ.
at the appointed time .

וְיָשֹׁ֤ב
wə·yā·šōḇ
אַרְצוֹ֙
’ar·ṣōw
– בִּרְכ֣וּשׁ
bir·ḵūš
with riches –
גָּד֔וֹל
gā·ḏō·wl,
וּלְבָב֖וֹ
ū·lə·ḇā·ḇōw
עַל־
‘al-
– בְּרִ֣ית
bə·rîṯ
the covenant –
קֹ֑דֶשׁ
qō·ḏeš;
וְעָשָׂ֖ה
wə·‘ā·śāh
so he shall do [damage]
וְשָׁ֥ב
wə·šāḇ
and return
. לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃
lə·’ar·ṣōw.
to his own land .

לַמּוֹעֵ֥ד
lam·mō·w·‘êḏ
､ יָשׁ֖וּב
yā·šūḇ
he shall return ､
וּבָ֣א
ū·ḇā
and go
– בַנֶּ֑גֶב
ḇan·ne·ḡeḇ;
toward the south –
וְלֹֽא־
wə·lō-
but not
תִהְיֶ֥ה
ṯih·yeh
it shall be
､ כָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה
ḵā·ri·šō·nāh
like the former ､
. וְכָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃
wə·ḵā·’a·ḥă·rō·nāh.
or the latter .

and in rage
עַל־
‘al-
– בְּרִֽית־
bə·rîṯ-
the covenant –
ק֖וֹדֶשׁ
qō·w·ḏeš
– וְעָשָׂ֑ה
wə·‘ā·śāh;
and do [damage] –
､ וְשָׁ֣ב
wə·šāḇ
so he shall return ､
וְיָבֵ֔ן
wə·yā·ḇên,
עַל־
‘al-
עֹזְבֵ֖י
‘ō·zə·ḇê
בְּרִ֥ית
bə·rîṯ
. קֹֽדֶשׁ׃
qō·ḏeš.

וּזְרֹעִ֖ים
ū·zə·rō·‘îm
And forces
､ מִמֶּ֣נּוּ
mim·men·nū
by him ､
יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ
ya·‘ă·mō·ḏū;
וְחִלְּל֞וּ
wə·ḥil·lə·lū
הַמִּקְדָּ֤שׁ
ham·miq·dāš
､ הַמָּעוֹז֙
ham·mā·‘ō·wz
וְהֵסִ֣ירוּ
wə·hê·sî·rū
הַתָּמִ֔יד
hat·tā·mîḏ,
וְנָתְנ֖וּ
wə·nā·ṯə·nū
and place [there]
הַשִּׁקּ֥וּץ
haš·šiq·qūṣ
. מְשׁוֹמֵֽם׃
mə·šō·w·mêm.

וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י
ū·mar·šî·‘ê
בְרִ֔ית
ḇə·rîṯ,
יַחֲנִ֖יף
ya·ḥă·nîp̄
– בַּחֲלַקּ֑וֹת
ba·ḥă·laq·qō·wṯ;
with the flattering [lip] –
וְעַ֛ם
wə·‘am
but the people
יֹדְעֵ֥י
yō·ḏə·‘ê
אֱלֹהָ֖יו
’ĕ·lō·hāw
､ יַחֲזִ֥קוּ
ya·ḥă·zi·qū
shall be strong ､
. וְעָשֽׂוּ׃
wə·‘ā·śū.
33
וּמַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי
ū·maś·kî·lê
עָ֔ם
‘ām,
of the people
יָבִ֖ינוּ
yā·ḇî·nū
– לָֽרַבִּ֑ים
lā·rab·bîm;
many –
וְנִכְשְׁל֞וּ
wə·niḵ·šə·lū
､ בְּחֶ֧רֶב
bə·ḥe·reḇ
by sword ､
､ וּבְלֶהָבָ֛ה
ū·ḇə·le·hā·ḇāh
and flame ､
､ בִּשְׁבִ֥י
biš·ḇî
by captivity ､
､ וּבְבִזָּ֖ה
ū·ḇə·ḇiz·zāh
and plundering ､
. יָמִֽים׃
yā·mîm.

､ וּבְהִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔ם
ū·ḇə·hik·kā·šə·lām,
יֵעָזְר֖וּ
yê·‘ā·zə·rū
､ עֵ֣זֶר
‘ê·zer
with a help ､
מְעָ֑ט
mə·‘āṭ;
וְנִלְו֧וּ
wə·nil·wū
עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם
‘ă·lê·hem
with them
רַבִּ֖ים
rab·bîm
. בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃
ba·ḥă·laq·laq·qō·wṯ.
35
וּמִן־
ū·min-
And [some] of those
הַמַּשְׂכִּילִ֣ים
ham·maś·kî·lîm
､ יִכָּֽשְׁל֗וּ
yik·kā·šə·lū,
לִצְר֥וֹף
liṣ·rō·wp̄
בָּהֶ֛ם
bā·hem
､ וּלְבָרֵ֥ר
ū·lə·ḇā·rêr
and purify [them] ､
､ וְלַלְבֵּ֖ן
wə·lal·bên
and make [them] white ､
עַד־
‘aḏ-
עֵ֣ת
‘êṯ
the time
– קֵ֑ץ
qêṣ;
of the end –
כִּי־
kî-
ע֖וֹד
‘ō·wḏ
[it is] still
. לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃
lam·mō·w·‘êḏ.
36
וְעָשָׂ֨ה
wə·‘ā·śāh
And shall do
– כִרְצוֹנ֜וֹ
ḵir·ṣō·w·nōw
according to his own will –
הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ
ham·me·leḵ,
the king
､ וְיִתְרוֹמֵ֤ם
wə·yiṯ·rō·w·mêm
and he shall exalt ､
וְיִתְגַּדֵּל֙
wə·yiṯ·gad·dêl
עַל־
‘al-
כָּל־
kāl-
､ אֵ֔ל
’êl,
god ､
וְעַל֙
wə·‘al
אֵ֣ל
’êl
the God
､ אֵלִ֔ים
’ê·lîm,
of gods ､
יְדַבֵּ֖ר
yə·ḏab·bêr
נִפְלָא֑וֹת
nip̄·lā·’ō·wṯ;
וְהִצְלִ֙יחַ֙
wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ
עַד־
‘aḏ-
､ כָּ֣לָה
kā·lāh
זַ֔עַם
za·‘am,
the wrath
כִּ֥י
kî
נֶחֱרָצָ֖ה
ne·ḥĕ·rā·ṣāh
. נֶעֱשָֽׂתָה׃
ne·‘ĕ·śā·ṯāh.
shall be done .

וְעַל־
wə·‘al-
And
אֱלֹהֵ֤י
’ĕ·lō·hê
the God
､ אֲבֹתָיו֙
’ă·ḇō·ṯāw
of his fathers ､
לֹ֣א
lō
יָבִ֔ין
yā·ḇîn,
וְעַל־
wə·‘al-
חֶמְדַּ֥ת
ḥem·daṯ
the desire
､ נָשִׁ֛ים
nā·šîm
of women ､
וְעַֽל־
wə·‘al-
and
כָּל־
kāl-
– אֱל֖וֹהַּ

god –
לֹ֣א

וְלֶאֱלֹ֙הַּ֙
wə·le·’ĕ·lō·ah
But a god
､ מָֽעֻזִּ֔ים
mā·‘uz·zîm,
of fortresses ､
עַל־
‘al-
in
כַּנּ֖וֹ
kan·nōw
יְכַבֵּ֑ד
yə·ḵab·bêḏ;
וְלֶאֱל֜וֹהַּ
wə·le·’ĕ·lō·w·ah
and a god
אֲשֶׁ֧ר
’ă·šer
לֹא־
lō-
not
יְדָעֻ֣הוּ
yə·ḏā·‘u·hū
אֲבֹתָ֗יו
’ă·ḇō·ṯāw,
יְכַבֵּ֛ד
yə·ḵab·bêḏ
､ בְּזָהָ֥ב

with gold ､
､ וּבְכֶ֛סֶף

and silver ､
､ וּבְאֶ֥בֶן

and with stones ､
יְקָרָ֖ה

. וּבַחֲמֻדֽוֹת׃
ū·ḇa·ḥă·mu·ḏō·wṯ.

וְעָשָׂ֞ה
wə·‘ā·śāh
לְמִבְצְרֵ֤י
lə·miḇ·ṣə·rê
מָֽעֻזִּים֙
mā·‘uz·zîm
עִם־
‘im-
with
､ אֱל֣וֹהַּ
’ĕ·lō·w·ah
a god ､
נֵכָ֔ר
nê·ḵār,
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
[הכיר]
hik·kîr
-
(יַכִּ֖יר)
yak·kîr
יַרְבֶּ֣ה
yar·beh
[and] advance
– כָב֑וֹד
ḵā·ḇō·wḏ;
[its] glory –
וְהִמְשִׁילָם֙
wə·him·šî·lām
and he shall cause them to rule
､ בָּֽרַבִּ֔ים
bā·rab·bîm,
וַאֲדָמָ֖ה
wa·’ă·ḏā·māh
and the land
יְחַלֵּ֥ק
yə·ḥal·lêq
. בִּמְחִֽיר׃
bim·ḥîr.

וּבְעֵ֣ת

And at the time
קֵ֗ץ
qêṣ,
of the end
יִתְנַגַּ֤ח
yiṯ·nag·gaḥ
עִמּוֹ֙
‘im·mōw
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַנֶּ֔גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
of the south
וְיִשְׂתָּעֵ֨ר
wə·yiś·tā·‘êr
､ עָלָ֜יו
‘ā·lāw
מֶ֣לֶךְ
me·leḵ
the king
הַצָּפ֗וֹן
haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
of the North
､ בְּרֶ֙כֶב֙
bə·re·ḵeḇ
with chariots ､
､ וּבְפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים
ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šîm,
and horsemen ､
– וּבָאֳנִיּ֖וֹת
ū·ḇā·’o·nî·yō·wṯ
and with ships –
רַבּ֑וֹת
rab·bō·wṯ;
וּבָ֥א
ū·ḇā
and he shall enter
､ בַאֲרָצ֖וֹת
ḇa·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ
the countries ､
וְשָׁטַ֥ף
wə·šā·ṭap̄
. וְעָבָֽר׃
wə·‘ā·ḇār.
41
וּבָא֙
ū·ḇā
And He shall enter
､ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ
bə·’e·reṣ
Land ､
הַצְּבִ֔י
haṣ·ṣə·ḇî,
וְרַבּ֖וֹת
wə·rab·bō·wṯ
– יִכָּשֵׁ֑לוּ
yik·kā·šê·lū;
וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙
wə·’êl·leh
but these
יִמָּלְט֣וּ
yim·mā·lə·ṭū
､ מִיָּד֔וֹ
mî·yā·ḏōw,
､ אֱד֣וֹם
’ĕ·ḏō·wm
Edom ､
､ וּמוֹאָ֔ב
ū·mō·w·’āḇ,
and Moab ､
וְרֵאשִׁ֖ית
wə·rê·šîṯ
and the prominent
בְּנֵ֥י
bə·nê
. עַמּֽוֹן׃
‘am·mō·wn.
of Ammon .
42
וְיִשְׁלַ֥ח
wə·yiš·laḥ
יָד֖וֹ
yā·ḏōw
､ בַּאֲרָצ֑וֹת
ba·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ;
וְאֶ֣רֶץ
wə·’e·reṣ
and the land
מִצְרַ֔יִם
miṣ·ra·yim,
לֹ֥א
lō
not
תִהְיֶ֖ה
ṯih·yeh
. לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃
lip̄·lê·ṭāh.

וּמָשַׁ֗ל
ū·mā·šal,
בְּמִכְמַנֵּי֙
bə·miḵ·man·nê
הַזָּהָ֣ב
haz·zā·hāḇ
of gold
､ וְהַכֶּ֔סֶף
wə·hak·ke·sep̄,
and silver ､
וּבְכֹ֖ל
ū·ḇə·ḵōl
and over all
חֲמֻד֣וֹת
ḥă·mu·ḏō·wṯ
– מִצְרָ֑יִם
miṣ·rā·yim;
of Egypt –
וְלֻבִ֥ים
wə·lu·ḇîm
and the Libyans
וְכֻשִׁ֖ים
wə·ḵu·šîm
. בְּמִצְעָדָֽיו׃
bə·miṣ·‘ā·ḏāw.
at his heels .

וּשְׁמֻע֣וֹת
ū·šə·mu·‘ō·wṯ
But news
יְבַהֲלֻ֔הוּ
yə·ḇa·hă·lu·hū,
מִמִּזְרָ֖ח
mim·miz·rāḥ
וּמִצָּפ֑וֹן
ū·miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn;
and the north
וְיָצָא֙
wə·yā·ṣā
בְּחֵמָ֣א
bə·ḥê·mā
with fury
גְדֹלָ֔ה
ḡə·ḏō·lāh,
､ לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד
lə·haš·mîḏ
to destroy ､
וּֽלְהַחֲרִ֖ים
ū·lə·ha·ḥă·rîm
. רַבִּֽים׃
rab·bîm.
45
וְיִטַּע֙
wə·yiṭ·ṭa‘
And he shall plant
אָהֳלֶ֣י
’ā·ho·le
the tents
אַפַּדְנ֔וֹ
’ap·paḏ·nōw,
בֵּ֥ין
bên
יַמִּ֖ים
yam·mîm
the seas
– לְהַר־
lə·har-
and the mountain –
צְבִי־
ṣə·ḇî-
קֹ֑דֶשׁ
qō·ḏeš;
וּבָא֙
ū·ḇā
and yet he shall come
עַד־
‘aḏ-
to
､ קִצּ֔וֹ
qiṣ·ṣōw,
his end ､
וְאֵ֥ין
wə·’ên
and no one
עוֹזֵ֖ר
‘ō·w·zêr
will help
. לֽוֹ׃
