דְבַר־

the word

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֥י

’ê·lay

to me

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

וְאַתָּ֣ה

wə·’at·tāh

and you

בֶן־

ḇen-

､ אָדָ֔ם

’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

､ הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֥ט

hă·ṯiš·pōṭ

will you judge ､

הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֖ט

hă·ṯiš·pōṭ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

؟ עִ֣יר

‘îr

הַדָּמִ֑ים

had·dā·mîm;

וְה֣וֹדַעְתָּ֔הּ

wə·hō·w·ḏa‘·tāh,

and Yes show her

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

. תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

tō·w·‘ă·ḇō·w·ṯe·hā.

her abominations .

וְאָמַרְתָּ֗

wə·’ā·mar·tā,

And say

כֹּ֤ה

kōh

אָמַר֙

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

､ יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD ､

עִ֣יר

‘îr

the city

שֹׁפֶ֥כֶת

šō·p̄e·ḵeṯ

דָּ֛ם

dām

בְּתוֹכָ֖הּ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh

in her own midst

､ לָב֣וֹא

lā·ḇō·w

that may come ､

עִתָּ֑הּ

‘it·tāh;

וְעָשְׂתָ֧ה

wə·‘ā·śə·ṯāh

גִלּוּלִ֛ים

ḡil·lū·lîm

עָלֶ֖יהָ

‘ā·le·hā

. לְטָמְאָֽה׃

lə·ṭā·mə·’āh.

to defile herself .

בְּדָמֵ֨ךְ

bə·ḏā·mêḵ

By the blood

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

– שָׁפַ֜כְתְּ

šā·p̄aḵt

you have shed –

אָשַׁ֗מְתְּ

’ā·šamt,

You have become guilty

וּבְגִלּוּלַ֤יִךְ

ū·ḇə·ḡil·lū·la·yiḵ

and with the idols

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

– עָשִׂית֙

‘ā·śîṯ

you have made –

טָמֵ֔את

ṭā·mêṯ,

have defiled yourself

､ וַתַּקְרִ֣יבִי

wat·taq·rî·ḇî

and You have caused to draw near ､

יָמַ֔יִךְ

yā·ma·yiḵ,

וַתָּב֖וֹא

wat·tā·ḇō·w

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

– שְׁנוֹתָ֑יִךְ

šə·nō·w·ṯā·yiḵ;

the [end] [of] your years –

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֗ן

kên,

נְתַתִּ֤יךְ

nə·ṯat·tîḵ

I have made you

חֶרְפָּה֙

ḥer·pāh

､ לַגּוֹיִ֔ם

lag·gō·w·yim,

to the nations ､

וְקַלָּסָ֖ה

wə·qal·lā·sāh

לְכָל־

lə·ḵāl

to all

. הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ.

､ הַקְּרֹב֛וֹת

haq·qə·rō·ḇō·wṯ

[Those] near ､

וְהָרְחֹק֥וֹת

wə·hā·rə·ḥō·qō·wṯ

and [those] far

מִמֵּ֖ךְ

mim·mêḵ

יִתְקַלְּסוּ־

yiṯ·qal·lə·sū-

will mock

בָ֑ךְ

ḇāḵ;

טְמֵאַ֣ת

ṭə·mê·’aṯ

of ill

הַשֵּׁ֔ם

haš·šêm,

רַבַּ֖ת

rab·baṯ

[and] full

. הַמְּהוּמָֽה׃

ham·mə·hū·māh.

､ הִנֵּה֙

hin·nêh

Look ､

נְשִׂיאֵ֣י

nə·śî·’ê

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

of Israel ､

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

לִזְרֹע֖וֹ

liz·rō·‘ōw

הָ֣יוּ

hā·yū

בָ֑ךְ

ḇāḵ;

in you

לְמַ֖עַן

lə·ma·‘an

to

שְׁפָךְ־

šə·p̄āḵ-

. דָּֽם׃

dām.

אָ֤ב

’āḇ

– וָאֵם֙

wā·’êm

and mother –

הֵקַ֣לּוּ

hê·qal·lū

they have made light

בָ֔ךְ

ḇāḵ,

in you

– לַגֵּ֛ר

lag·gêr

the stranger –

עָשׂ֥וּ

‘ā·śū

בַעֹ֖שֶׁק

ḇa·‘ō·šeq

בְּתוֹכֵ֑ךְ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵêḵ;

יָת֥וֹם

yā·ṯō·wm

וְאַלְמָנָ֖ה

wə·’al·mā·nāh

and the widow

ה֥וֹנוּ

hō·w·nū

they have mistreated

. בָֽךְ׃

ḇāḵ.

in you .

､ קָדָשַׁ֖י

qā·ḏā·šay

My holy things ､

בָּזִ֑ית

bā·zîṯ;

You have despised

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

שַׁבְּתֹתַ֖י

šab·bə·ṯō·ṯay

. חִלָּֽלְתְּ׃

ḥil·lā·lət.

אַנְשֵׁ֥י

’an·šê

רָכִ֛יל

rā·ḵîl

הָ֥יוּ

hā·yū

בָ֖ךְ

ḇāḵ

in you

לְמַ֣עַן

lə·ma·‘an

to

שְׁפָךְ־

šə·p̄āḵ-

､ דָּ֑ם

dām;

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and on

– הֶֽהָרִים֙

he·hā·rîm

the mountains –

אָ֣כְלוּ

’ā·ḵə·lū

are those who eat

בָ֔ךְ

ḇāḵ,

in you

זִמָּ֖ה

zim·māh

עָשׂ֥וּ

‘ā·śū

. בְתוֹכֵֽךְ׃

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵêḵ.

in your midst .

– עֶרְוַת־

‘er·waṯ-

אָ֖ב

’āḇ

גִּלָּה־

gil·lāh-

בָ֑ךְ

ḇāḵ;

in you

. טְמֵאַ֥ת

ṭə·mê·’aṯ

during their impurity .

הַנִּדָּ֖ה

han·nid·dāh

Menstruous women

עִנּוּ־

‘in·nū-

. בָֽךְ׃

ḇāḵ.

in you .

וְאִ֣ישׁ ׀

wə·’îš

And one

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

– אֵ֣שֶׁת

’ê·šeṯ

wife –

רֵעֵ֗הוּ

rê·‘ê·hū,

of his neighbor

עָשָׂה֙

‘ā·śāh

תּֽוֹעֵבָ֔ה

tō·w·‘ê·ḇāh,

וְאִ֥ישׁ

wə·’îš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– כַּלָּת֖וֹ

kal·lā·ṯōw

his daughter-in-law –

טִמֵּ֣א

ṭim·mê

בְזִמָּ֑ה

ḇə·zim·māh;

וְאִ֛ישׁ

wə·’îš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ אֲחֹת֥וֹ

’ă·ḥō·ṯōw

. בַת־

ḇaṯ-

אָבִ֖יו

’ā·ḇîw

עִנָּה־

‘in·nāh-

. בָֽךְ׃

ḇāḵ.

in you .

שֹׁ֥חַד

šō·ḥaḏ

לָֽקְחוּ־

lā·qə·ḥū-

בָ֖ךְ

ḇāḵ

in you

לְמַ֣עַן

lə·ma·‘an

to

שְׁפָךְ־

šə·p̄āḵ-

– דָּ֑ם

dām;

נֶ֧שֶׁךְ

ne·šeḵ

､ וְתַרְבִּ֣ית

wə·ṯar·bîṯ

and increase ､

לָקַ֗חַתְּ

lā·qa·ḥat,

וַתְּבַצְּעִ֤י

wat·tə·ḇaṣ·ṣə·‘î

and you have made profit from

רֵעַ֙יִךְ֙

rê·‘a·yiḵ

､ בַּעֹ֔שֶׁק

ba·‘ō·šeq,

by extortion ､

וְאֹתִ֣י

wə·’ō·ṯî

and Me

שָׁכַ֔חַתְּ

šā·ḵa·ḥat,

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ וְהִנֵּה֙

wə·hin·nêh

And therefore behold ､

הִכֵּ֣יתִי

hik·kê·ṯî

כַפִּ֔י

ḵap·pî,

אֶל־

’el-

at

בִּצְעֵ֖ךְ

biṣ·‘êḵ

the dishonest profit

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ עָשִׂ֑ית

‘ā·śîṯ;

you have made ､

וְעַ֨ל־

wə·‘al-

and at

דָּמֵ֔ךְ

dā·mêḵ,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

הָי֖וּ

hā·yū

. בְּתוֹכֵֽךְ׃

bə·ṯō·w·ḵêḵ.

in your midst .

､ הֲיַעֲמֹ֤ד

hă·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

לִבֵּךְ֙

lib·bêḵ

אִם־

’im-

or

､ תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה

te·ḥĕ·zaq·nāh

can remain strong ､

יָדַ֔יִךְ

yā·ḏa·yiḵ,

לַיָּמִ֕ים

lay·yā·mîm

in the days

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אֲנִ֖י

’ă·nî

I

עֹשֶׂ֣ה

‘ō·śeh

אוֹתָ֑ךְ

’ō·w·ṯāḵ;

with you

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי

dib·bar·tî

. וְעָשִֽׂיתִי׃

wə·‘ā·śî·ṯî.

and will do [it] .

וַהֲפִיצוֹתִ֤י

wa·hă·p̄î·ṣō·w·ṯî

And I will scatter

אוֹתָךְ֙

’ō·w·ṯāḵ

､ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם

bag·gō·w·yim,

among the nations ､

וְזֵרִיתִ֖יךְ

wə·zê·rî·ṯîḵ

and disperse you

､ בָּאֲרָצ֑וֹת

bā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ;

throughout the countries ､

וַהֲתִמֹּתִ֥י

wa·hă·ṯim·mō·ṯî

and remove completely

טֻמְאָתֵ֖ךְ

ṭum·’ā·ṯêḵ

your filthiness

. מִמֵּֽךְ׃

mim·mêḵ.

וְנִחַ֥לְתְּ

wə·ni·ḥalt

And You shall defile

בָּ֖ךְ

bāḵ

לְעֵינֵ֣י

lə·‘ê·nê

in the sight

､ גוֹיִ֑ם

ḡō·w·yim;

of the nations ､

וְיָדַ֖עַתְּ

wə·yā·ḏa·‘at

then you shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

[As] [men] gather

､ כֶּ֡סֶף

､ וּ֠נְחֹשֶׁת

ū·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

and bronze ､

､ וּבַרְזֶ֨ל

ū·ḇar·zel

and iron ､

､ וְעוֹפֶ֤רֶת

wə·‘ō·w·p̄e·reṯ

and lead ､

､ וּבְדִיל֙

ū·ḇə·ḏîl

and tin ､

אֶל־

’el-

תּ֣וֹךְ

tō·wḵ

､ כּ֔וּר

kūr,

of a furnace ､

לָפַֽחַת־

lā·p̄a·ḥaṯ-

עָלָ֥יו

‘ā·lāw

on it

אֵ֖שׁ

’êš

לְהַנְתִּ֑יךְ

lə·han·tîḵ;

to melt [it]

כֵּ֤ן

so

אֶקְבֹּץ֙

’eq·bōṣ

I will gather [you]

בְּאַפִּ֣י

bə·’ap·pî

in My anger

､ וּבַחֲמָתִ֔י

ū·ḇa·ḥă·mā·ṯî,

and in My fury ､

וְהִנַּחְתִּ֥י

wə·hin·naḥ·tî

and I will leave [you] [there]

וְהִתַּכְתִּ֖י

wə·hit·taḵ·tî

and melt

. אֶתְכֶֽם׃

’eṯ·ḵem.

וְכִנַּסְתִּ֣י

wə·ḵin·nas·tî

And Yes I will gather

אֶתְכֶ֔ם

’eṯ·ḵem,

וְנָפַחְתִּ֥י

wə·nā·p̄aḥ·tî

and blow

עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם

‘ă·lê·ḵem

on you

בְּאֵ֣שׁ

bə·’êš

with the fire

､ עֶבְרָתִ֑י

‘eḇ·rā·ṯî;

of My wrath ､

וְנִתַּכְתֶּ֖ם

wə·nit·taḵ·tem

and you shall be melted

. בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh.

כְּהִתּ֥וּךְ

kə·hit·tūḵ

As is melted

כֶּ֙סֶף֙

בְּת֣וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the midst

､ כּ֔וּר

kūr,

of a furnace ､

כֵּ֖ן

so

תֻּתְּכ֣וּ

tut·tə·ḵū

shall you be melted

בְתוֹכָ֑הּ

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵāh;

וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙

wî·ḏa‘·tem

then you shall know

､ מְטֹהָרָ֖ה

is cleansed ､

הִ֑יא

בְּי֥וֹם

in the day

. זָֽעַם׃

of indignation .

קֶ֤שֶׁר

נְבִיאֶ֙יהָ֙

of her prophets

בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵāh,

כַּאֲרִ֥י

ka·’ă·rî

שׁוֹאֵ֖ג

טֹ֣רֵֽף

ṭō·rêp̄

– טָ֑רֶף

ṭā·rep̄;

the prey –

– נֶ֣פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

אָכָ֗לוּ

’ā·ḵā·lū,

they have devoured

חֹ֤סֶן

ḥō·sen

– וִיקָר֙

wî·qār

and precious things –

יִקָּ֔חוּ

yiq·qā·ḥū,

they have taken

אַלְמְנוֹתֶ֖יהָ

’al·mə·nō·w·ṯe·hā

הִרְבּ֥וּ

hir·bū

they have made many

. בְתוֹכָֽהּ׃

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵāh.

כֹּהֲנֶ֜יהָ

kō·hă·ne·hā

חָמְס֣וּ

ḥā·mə·sū

､ תוֹרָתִי֮

ṯō·w·rā·ṯî

My law ､

וַיְחַלְּל֣וּ

way·ḥal·lə·lū

– קָדָשַׁי֒

qā·ḏā·šay

My holy things –

בֵּֽין־

bên-

קֹ֤דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš

the holy

､ לְחֹל֙

lə·ḥōl

and unholy ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

הִבְדִּ֔ילוּ

hiḇ·dî·lū,

they have distinguished

וּבֵין־

ū·ḇên-

הַטָּמֵ֥א

haṭ·ṭā·mê

､ לְטָה֖וֹר

lə·ṭā·hō·wr

and the clean ､

לֹ֣א

lō

הוֹדִ֑יעוּ

hō·w·ḏî·‘ū;

have they made known the [difference]

､ וּמִשַׁבְּתוֹתַי֙

ū·mi·šab·bə·ṯō·w·ṯay

and from My Sabbaths ､

הֶעְלִ֣ימוּ

he‘·lî·mū

they have hidden

עֵֽינֵיהֶ֔ם

‘ê·nê·hem,

וָאֵחַ֖ל

wā·’ê·ḥal

so that I am profaned

. בְּתוֹכָֽם׃

bə·ṯō·w·ḵām.

שָׂרֶ֣יהָ

śā·re·hā

Her princes [are]

בְקִרְבָּ֔הּ

ḇə·qir·bāh,

כִּזְאֵבִ֖ים

kiz·’ê·ḇîm

טֹ֣רְפֵי

ṭō·rə·p̄ê

､ טָ֑רֶף

ṭā·rep̄;

the prey ､

לִשְׁפָּךְ־

liš·pāḵ-

､ דָּם֙

dām

לְאַבֵּ֣ד

lə·’ab·bêḏ

､ נְפָשׁ֔וֹת

nə·p̄ā·šō·wṯ,

לְמַ֖עַן

lə·ma·‘an

and to

בְּצֹ֥עַ

bə·ṣō·a‘

. בָּֽצַע׃

bā·ṣa‘.

dishonest gain .

וּנְבִיאֶ֗יהָ

ū·nə·ḇî·’e·hā,

And Her prophets

טָח֤וּ

ṭā·ḥū

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

תָּפֵ֔ל

tā·p̄êl,

with untempered [mortar]

חֹזִ֣ים

ḥō·zîm

､ שָׁ֔וְא

šāw,

FALSE [visions] ､

וְקֹסְמִ֥ים

wə·qō·sə·mîm

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

כָּזָ֑ב

kā·zāḇ;

､ אֹמְרִ֗ים

’ō·mə·rîm,

כֹּ֤ה

kōh

אָמַר֙

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

､ יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD ､

וַֽיהוָ֖ה

of the land

oppressions ､

וְגָזְל֖וּ

wə·ḡā·zə·lū

､ גָּזֵ֑ל

וְעָנִ֤י

wə·‘ā·nî

and the poor

– וְאֶבְיוֹן֙

wə·’eḇ·yō·wn

and needy –

הוֹנ֔וּ

hō·w·nū,

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַגֵּ֥ר

hag·gêr

עָשְׁק֖וּ

‘ā·šə·qū

בְּלֹ֥א

bə·lō

. מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

miš·pāṭ.

וָאֲבַקֵּ֣שׁ

wā·’ă·ḇaq·qêš

מֵהֶ֡ם

mê·hem

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

גֹּֽדֵר־

gō·ḏêr-

､ גָּדֵר֩

gā·ḏêr

a wall ､

וְעֹמֵ֨ד

wə·‘ō·mêḏ

בַּפֶּ֧רֶץ

bap·pe·reṣ

in the gap

לְפָנַ֛י

lə·p̄ā·nay

בְּעַ֥ד

bə·‘aḏ

､ הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the land ､

לְבִלְתִּ֣י

lə·ḇil·tî

that I should not

שַׁחֲתָ֑הּ

ša·ḥă·ṯāh;

וְלֹ֖א

wə·lō

but no one

. מָצָֽאתִי׃

mā·ṣā·ṯî.

וָאֶשְׁפֹּ֤ךְ

wā·’eš·pōḵ

And therefore I have poured out

עֲלֵיהֶם֙

‘ă·lê·hem

זַעְמִ֔י

za‘·mî,

בְּאֵ֥שׁ

bə·’êš

with the fire

– עֶבְרָתִ֖י

‘eḇ·rā·ṯî

of My wrath –

כִּלִּיתִ֑ים

kil·lî·ṯîm;

I have consumed them

דַּרְכָּם֙

dar·kām

､ בְּרֹאשָׁ֣ם

bə·rō·šām

on their own heads ､

נָתַ֔תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî,

and I have recompensed

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy
