וַֽיְהִי֙

And it came to pass

בִּשְׁתֵּ֣י

in two

עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה

‘eś·rêh

[and] ten

､ שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

the year ､

בִּשְׁנֵי־

biš·nê-

in the two

עָשָׂ֥ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

､ חֹ֖דֶשׁ

ḥō·ḏeš

[month] ､

בְּאֶחָ֣ד

bə·’e·ḥāḏ

on the first [day]

､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš;

of the month ､

הָיָ֥ה

hā·yāh

דְבַר־

ḏə·ḇar-

the word

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֥י

’ê·lay

to me

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

בֶּן־

ben-

､ אָדָ֗ם

’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

שָׂ֤א

śā

קִינָה֙

qî·nāh

עַל־

‘al-

פַּרְעֹ֣ה

par·‘ōh

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

､ מִצְרַ֔יִם

miṣ·ra·yim,

of Egypt ､

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

wə·’ā·mar·tā

and say

אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

to him

כְּפִ֥יר

kə·p̄îr

a young lion among

､ גּוֹיִ֖ם

gō·w·yim

the nations ､

נִדְמֵ֑יתָ

niḏ·mê·ṯā;

וְאַתָּה֙

wə·’at·tāh

and you [are]

כַּתַּנִּ֣ים

kat·tan·nîm

– בַּיַּמִּ֔ים

bay·yam·mîm,

in the seas –

וַתָּ֣גַח

wat·tā·ḡaḥ

and Bursting forth

､ בְּנַהֲרוֹתֶ֗יךָ

bə·na·hă·rō·w·ṯe·ḵā,

in your rivers ､

וַתִּדְלַח־

wat·tiḏ·laḥ-

מַ֙יִם֙

ma·yim

､ בְּרַגְלֶ֔יךָ

bə·raḡ·le·ḵā,

with your feet ､

וַתִּרְפֹּ֖ס

wat·tir·pōs

. נַהֲרוֹתָֽם׃

na·hă·rō·w·ṯām.

כֹּ֤ה

kōh

אָמַר֙

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

– יְהוִ֔ה

Yah·weh,

GOD –

וּפָרַשְׂתִּ֤י

ū·p̄ā·raś·tî

and therefore I will spread

עָלֶ֙יךָ֙

‘ā·le·ḵā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

רִשְׁתִּ֔י

riš·tî,

My net

בִּקְהַ֖ל

biq·hal

with a company

– עַמִּ֣ים

‘am·mîm

of people –

רַבִּ֑ים

rab·bîm;

וְהֶעֱל֖וּךָ

wə·he·‘ĕ·lū·ḵā

and they will draw you up

. בְּחֶרְמִֽי׃

bə·ḥer·mî.

in My net .

וּנְטַשְׁתִּ֣יךָ

ū·nə·ṭaš·tî·ḵā

And I will leave you

､ בָאָ֔רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ,

on the land ､

עַל־

‘al-

on

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

､ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה

haś·śā·ḏeh

the fields ､

אֲטִילֶ֑ךָ

’ă·ṭî·le·ḵā;

I will cast you out

וְהִשְׁכַּנְתִּ֤י

wə·hiš·kan·tî

and cause to settle

עָלֶ֙יךָ֙

‘ā·le·ḵā

on you

כָּל־

kāl-

ע֣וֹף

‘ō·wp̄

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim,

of the heavens

וְהִשְׂבַּעְתִּ֥י

wə·hiś·ba‘·tî

and I will fill

מִמְּךָ֖

mim·mə·ḵā

with you

חַיַּ֥ת

ḥay·yaṯ

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וְנָתַתִּ֥י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

And I will lay

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּשָׂרְךָ֖

bə·śā·rə·ḵā

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הֶֽהָרִ֑ים

he·hā·rîm;

the mountains ､

וּמִלֵּאתִ֥י

ū·mil·lê·ṯî

and fill

הַגֵּאָי֖וֹת

hag·gê·’ā·yō·wṯ

. רָמוּתֶֽךָ׃

rā·mū·ṯe·ḵā.

with your carcass .

וְהִשְׁקֵיתִ֨י

wə·hiš·qê·ṯî

And I will water

אֶ֧רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the land

､ צָפָתְךָ֛

ṣā·p̄ā·ṯə·ḵā

with the flow ､

מִדָּמְךָ֖

mid·dā·mə·ḵā

אֶל־

’el-

[Even] to

– הֶֽהָרִ֑ים

he·hā·rîm;

the mountains –

וַאֲפִקִ֖ים

wa·’ă·p̄i·qîm

and the riverbeds

יִמָּלְא֥וּן

yim·mā·lə·’ūn

will be full

. מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

mim·me·kā.

of you .

וְכִסֵּיתִ֤י

wə·ḵis·sê·ṯî

And I will cover

､ בְכַבּֽוֹתְךָ֙

ḇə·ḵab·bō·wṯ·ḵā

when [I] put out your light ､

､ שָׁמַ֔יִם

šā·ma·yim,

the heavens ､

וְהִקְדַּרְתִּ֖י

wə·hiq·dar·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כֹּֽכְבֵיהֶ֑ם

kō·ḵə·ḇê·hem;

שֶׁ֚מֶשׁ

meš

the sun

､ בֶּעָנָ֣ן

be·‘ā·nān

with a cloud ､

אֲכַסֶּ֔נּוּ

’ă·ḵas·sen·nū,

I will cover

וְיָרֵ֖חַ

wə·yā·rê·aḥ

and the moon

לֹא־

lō-

not

יָאִ֥יר

yā·’îr

. אוֹרֽוֹ׃

’ō·w·rōw.

כָּל־

kāl-

מְא֤וֹרֵי

mə·’ō·w·rê

אוֹר֙

’ō·wr

בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם

baš·šā·ma·yim,

of the heavens

אַקְדִּירֵ֖ם

’aq·dî·rêm

I will make dark

עָלֶ֑יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā;

וְנָתַ֤תִּי

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

חֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙

ḥō·šeḵ

עַֽל־

‘al-

､ אַרְצְךָ֔

’ar·ṣə·ḵā,

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְהִ֨כְעַסְתִּ֔י

wə·hiḵ·‘as·tî,

And I will trouble

לֵ֖ב

lêḇ

､ עַמִּ֣ים

‘am·mîm

of peoples ､

רַבִּ֑ים

rab·bîm;

בַּהֲבִיאִ֤י

ba·hă·ḇî·’î

שִׁבְרְךָ֙

šiḇ·rə·ḵā

your destruction

､ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם

bag·gō·w·yim,

among the nations ､

עַל־

‘al-

אֲרָצ֖וֹת

’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

. יְדַעְתָּֽם׃

yə·ḏa‘·tām.

you have known .

וַהֲשִׁמּוֹתִ֨י

wa·hă·šim·mō·w·ṯî

And Yes I will make astonished

עָלֶ֜יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā

at you

עַמִּ֣ים

‘am·mîm

רַבִּ֗ים

rab·bîm,

וּמַלְכֵיהֶם֙

ū·mal·ḵê·hem

and their kings

יִשְׂעֲר֤וּ

yiś·‘ă·rū

shall be afraid

עָלֶ֙יךָ֙

‘ā·le·ḵā

of you

שַׂ֔עַר

śa·‘ar,

בְּעוֹפְפִ֥י

bə·‘ō·wp̄·p̄î

when I brandish

חַרְבִּ֖י

ḥar·bî

עַל־

‘al-

פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם

pə·nê·hem;

וְחָרְד֤וּ

wə·ḥā·rə·ḏū

and they shall tremble

､ לִרְגָעִים֙

lir·ḡā·‘îm

[every] moment ､

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

､ לְנַפְשׁ֔וֹ

lə·nap̄·šōw,

for his own life ､

בְּי֖וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

. מַפַּלְתֶּֽךָ׃

map·pal·te·ḵā.

of the king

בָּבֶ֖ל

bā·ḇel

. תְּבוֹאֶֽךָ׃

tə·ḇō·w·’e·ḵā.

shall come upon you .

בְּחַרְב֤וֹת

bə·ḥar·ḇō·wṯ

By the swords

גִּבּוֹרִים֙

gib·bō·w·rîm

of the mighty warriors

､ אַפִּ֣יל

’ap·pîl

I will cause to fall ､

הֲמוֹנֶ֔ךָ

hă·mō·w·ne·ḵā,

עָרִיצֵ֥י

‘ā·rî·ṣê

the most terrible

､ גוֹיִ֖ם

ḡō·w·yim

of the nations ､

כֻּלָּ֑ם

kul·lām;

וְשָֽׁדְדוּ֙

wə·šā·ḏə·ḏū

and they shall plunder

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

גְּא֣וֹן

gə·’ō·wn

the pomp

､ מִצְרַ֔יִם

miṣ·ra·yim,

of Egypt ､

וְנִשְׁמַ֖ד

wə·niš·maḏ

and shall be destroyed

כָּל־

kāl-

. הֲמוֹנָֽהּ׃

hă·mō·w·nāh.

its multitude .

וְהַֽאֲבַדְתִּי֙

wə·ha·’ă·ḇaḏ·tî

And I will destroy

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

בְּהֶמְתָּ֔הּ

bə·hem·tāh,

מֵעַ֖ל

mê·‘al

– מַ֣יִם

ma·yim

רַבִּ֑ים

rab·bîm;

וְלֹ֨א

wə·lō

and no

תִדְלָחֵ֤ם

ṯiḏ·lā·ḥêm

shall muddy them

רֶֽגֶל־

re·ḡel-

the foot

אָדָם֙

’ā·ḏām

of man

､ ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

more ､

וּפַרְס֥וֹת

ū·p̄ar·sō·wṯ

and the hooves

בְּהֵמָ֖ה

bə·hê·māh

לֹ֥א

lō

. תִדְלָחֵֽם׃

ṯiḏ·lā·ḥêm.

shall muddy them .

אָ֚ז

’āz

אַשְׁקִ֣יעַ

’aš·qî·a‘

I will make clear

מֵֽימֵיהֶ֔ם

mê·mê·hem,

וְנַהֲרוֹתָ֖ם

wə·na·hă·rō·w·ṯām

and their rivers

､ כַּשֶּׁ֣מֶן

kaš·še·men

אוֹלִ֑יךְ

’ō·w·lîḵ;

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

. יְהוִֽה׃

Yah·weh.

בְּתִתִּי֩

bə·ṯit·tî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֶ֨רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the land

מִצְרַ֜יִם

miṣ·ra·yim

､ שְׁמָמָ֣ה

šə·mā·māh

וּנְשַׁמָּ֗ה

ū·nə·šam·māh,

and is destitute

אֶ֚רֶץ

’e·reṣ

､ מִמְּלֹאָ֔הּ

mim·mə·lō·’āh,

of all that [once] filled it ､

בְּהַכּוֹתִ֖י

bə·hak·kō·w·ṯî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

י֣וֹשְׁבֵי

yō·wō·šə·ḇê

בָ֑הּ

ḇāh;

in it

וְיָדְע֖וּ

wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū

and they shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. יְהוָֽה׃

The lamentation

הִיא֙

hî

that [is]

וְק֣וֹנְנ֔וּהָ

and with which they shall lament her

בְּנ֥וֹת

bə·nō·wṯ

הַגּוֹיִ֖ם

hag·gō·w·yim

of the nations

תְּקוֹנֵ֣נָּה

tə·qō·w·nên·nāh

אוֹתָ֑הּ

’ō·w·ṯāh;

עַל־

‘al-

וְעַל־

and for

כָּל־

､ הֲמוֹנָהּ֙

her multitude ､

to me

and the daughters

､ גּוֹיִ֧ם

of the nations ､

אַדִּרִ֛ם

’ad·di·rim

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֶ֥רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the earth ､

תַּחְתִּיּ֖וֹת

taḥ·tî·yō·wṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

of with

י֥וֹרְדֵי

yō·wr·ḏê

those who go down

. בֽוֹר׃

ḇō·wr.

to the Pit .

מִמִּ֖י

mim·mî

؟ נָעָ֑מְתָּ

nā·‘ā·mə·tā;

do you surpass in beauty ؟

､ רְדָ֥ה

rə·ḏāh

go down ､

וְהָשְׁכְּבָ֖ה

wə·hā·šə·kə·ḇāh

and be placed

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

. עֲרֵלִֽים׃

‘ă·rê·lîm.

the uncircumcised .

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

In the midst

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

of [those] slain

. חֶ֖רֶב

ḥe·reḇ

by the sword .

יִפֹּ֑לוּ

yip·pō·lū;

They shall fall

– חֶ֣רֶב

ḥe·reḇ

to the sword –

נִתָּ֔נָה

nit·tā·nāh,

she is delivered

מָשְׁכ֥וּ

mā·šə·ḵū

אוֹתָ֖הּ

’ō·w·ṯāh

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

. הֲמוֹנֶֽיהָ׃

hă·mō·w·ne·hā.

her multitudes .

יְדַבְּרוּ־

yə·ḏab·bə·rū-

ל֞וֹ

to him

גִבּוֹרִ֛ים

among the mighty

מִתּ֥וֹךְ

out of the midst

with

עֹֽזְרָ֑יו

‘ō·zə·rāw;

those who help him

､ יָֽרְד֛וּ

yā·rə·ḏū

they have gone down ､

שָׁכְב֥וּ

šā·ḵə·ḇū

､ הָעֲרֵלִ֖ים

hā·‘ă·rê·lîm

the with uncircumcised ､

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

. חָֽרֶב׃

ḥā·reḇ.

by the sword .

וְכָל־

and all

– קְהָלָ֔הּ

her company –

סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֖יו

קִבְרֹתָ֑יו

qiḇ·rō·ṯāw;

with their graves

כֻּלָּ֣ם

kul·lām

､ חֲלָלִ֔ים

ḥă·lā·lîm,

הַנֹּפְלִ֖ים

han·nō·p̄ə·lîm

､ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

be·ḥā·reḇ.

by the sword ､

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

נִתְּנ֤וּ

nit·tə·nū

קִבְרֹתֶ֙יהָ֙

qiḇ·rō·ṯe·hā

בְּיַרְכְּתֵי־

bə·yar·kə·ṯê-

in the recesses

､ ב֔וֹר

of the Pit ､

וַיְהִ֣י

way·hî

and is

קְהָלָ֔הּ

qə·hā·lāh,

סְבִיב֖וֹת

sə·ḇî·ḇō·wṯ

. קְבֻרָתָ֑הּ

qə·ḇu·rā·ṯāh;

כֻּלָּ֤ם

kul·lām

､ חֲלָלִים֙

ḥă·lā·lîm

נֹפְלִ֣ים

nō·p̄ə·lîm

､ בַּחֶ֔רֶב

ba·ḥe·reḇ,

by the sword ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָתְנ֥וּ

nā·ṯə·nū

חִתִּ֖ית

ḥit·tîṯ

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

. חַיִּֽים׃

ḥay·yîm.

of the living .

שָׁ֤ם

There [is]

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

הֲמוֹנָ֔הּ

hă·mō·w·nāh,

סְבִיב֖וֹת

sə·ḇî·ḇō·wṯ

､ קְבֻרָתָ֑הּ

qə·ḇu·rā·ṯāh;

כֻּלָּ֣ם

kul·lām

､ חֲלָלִים֩

ḥă·lā·lîm

הַנֹּפְלִ֨ים

han·nō·p̄ə·lîm

､ בַּחֶ֜רֶב

ba·ḥe·reḇ

by the sword ､

אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־

’ăšer-

יָרְד֥וּ

yā·rə·ḏū

עֲרֵלִ֣ים ׀

‘ă·rê·lîm

אֶל־

the earth ､

the lower parts

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

נָתְנ֤וּ

חִתִּיתָם֙

ḥit·tî·ṯām

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

– חַיִּ֔ים

ḥay·yîm,

of the living –

וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ

כְלִמָּתָ֖ם

ḵə·lim·mā·ṯām

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

י֥וֹרְדֵי

those who go down

and yet they bear

כְלִמָּתָם֙

אֶת־

with

י֣וֹרְדֵי

those who go down to

– ב֔וֹר

ḇō·wr,

the Pit –

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the midst

חֲלָלִ֖ים

ḥă·lā·lîm

of the slain

. נִתָּֽן׃

nit·tān.

it was put .

שָׁ֣ם

､ מֶ֤שֶׁךְ

me·šeḵ

､ תֻּבַל֙

tu·ḇal

and Tubal ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

– הֲמוֹנָ֔הּ

hă·mō·w·nāh,

their multitudes –

סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֖יו

sə·ḇî·ḇō·w·ṯāw

קִבְרוֹתֶ֑יהָ

qiḇ·rō·w·ṯe·hā;

with all their graves

כֻּלָּ֤ם

kul·lām

､ עֲרֵלִים֙

‘ă·rê·lîm

uncircumcised ､

מְחֻ֣לְלֵי

mə·ḥul·lê

､ חֶ֔רֶב

the sword ､

כִּֽי־

ḥit·tî·ṯām

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

in the land

. חַיִּֽים׃

of the living .

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

And not

יִשְׁכְּבוּ֙

yiš·kə·ḇū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

גִּבּוֹרִ֔ים

gib·bō·w·rîm,

נֹפְלִ֖ים

nō·p̄ə·lîm

[Who] [are] fallen

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

יָרְדֽוּ־

yā·rə·ḏū-

שְׁא֣וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

בִּכְלֵֽי־

biḵ·lê-

– מִלְחַמְתָּם֩

mil·ḥam·tām

of their war –

וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ

way·yit·tə·nū

and they have laid

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

חַרְבוֹתָ֜ם

ḥar·ḇō·w·ṯām

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

､ רָאשֵׁיהֶ֗ם

rā·šê·hem,

their heads ､

וַתְּהִ֤י

wat·tə·hî

but will be

עֲוֺֽנֹתָם֙

‘ă·wō·nō·ṯām

their iniquities

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ עַצְמוֹתָ֔ם

‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯām,

their bones ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

חִתִּ֥ית

ḥit·tîṯ

of the terror

גִּבּוֹרִ֖ים

gib·bō·w·rîm

of the mighty

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

. חַיִּֽים׃

ḥay·yîm.

of the living .

וְאַתָּ֗ה

wə·’at·tāh,

בְּת֧וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the midst

､ עֲרֵלִ֛ים

‘ă·rê·lîm

of the uncircumcised ､

תִּשָּׁבַ֥ר

tiš·šā·ḇar

shall be broken

וְתִשְׁכַּ֖ב

wə·ṯiš·kaḇ

and lie

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

[those] slain by

. חָֽרֶב׃

ḥā·reḇ.

the sword .

שָׁ֣מָּה

šām·māh

There [is]

､ אֱד֗וֹם

’ĕ·ḏō·wm,

Edom ､

､ מְלָכֶ֙יהָ֙

mə·lā·ḵe·hā

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

､ נְשִׂיאֶ֔יהָ

nə·śî·’e·hā,

her princes ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נִתְּנ֥וּ

nit·tə·nū

בִגְבוּרָתָ֖ם

ḇiḡ·ḇū·rā·ṯām

despite their might

אֶת־

’eṯ-

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

[those] slain by

– חָ֑רֶב

ḥā·reḇ;

the sword –

הֵ֛מָּה

hêm·māh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

､ עֲרֵלִ֥ים

‘ă·rê·lîm

the uncircumcised ､

יִשְׁכָּ֖בוּ

yiš·kā·ḇū

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and with

יֹ֥רְדֵי

yō·rə·ḏê

those who go down to

. בֽוֹר׃

ḇō·wr.

the Pit .

שָׁ֣מָּה

šām·māh

נְסִיכֵ֥י

nə·sî·ḵê

､ צָפ֛וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn

of the north ､

כֻּלָּ֖ם

kul·lām

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

､ צִֽדֹנִ֑י

ṣi·ḏō·nî;

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

יָרְד֣וּ

yā·rə·ḏū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

– חֲלָלִ֗ים

ḥă·lā·lîm,

the slain –

בְּחִתִּיתָ֤ם

bə·ḥit·tî·ṯām;

at the terror which they caused

– מִגְבֽוּרָתָם֙

miḡ·ḇū·rā·ṯām

by their might –

בּוֹשִׁ֔ים

bō·wō·šîm,

וַיִּשְׁכְּב֤וּ

way·yiš·kə·ḇū

עֲרֵלִים֙

‘ă·rê·lîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

[those] slain by

､ חֶ֔רֶב

ḥe·reḇ,

the sword ､

וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ

way·yiś·’ū

and bear

כְלִמָּתָ֖ם

ḵə·lim·mā·ṯām

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

י֥וֹרְדֵי

yō·wr·ḏê

those who go down to

. בֽוֹר׃

ḇō·wr.

the Pit .

יִרְאֶ֣ה

yir·’eh

will see

פַרְעֹ֔ה

וְנִחַ֖ם

and be comforted

the Lord
