וּדְבָרִ֖ים

ū·ḏə·ḇā·rîm

. אֲחָדִֽים׃

’ă·ḥā·ḏîm.

､ וַֽיְהִ֖י

way·hî

And it came to pass ､

בְּנָסְעָ֣ם

bə·nā·sə·‘ām

as they journeyed

､ מִקֶּ֑דֶם

miq·qe·ḏem;

from the east ､

וַֽיִּמְצְא֥וּ

way·yim·ṣə·’ū

that they found

בִקְעָ֛ה

ḇiq·‘āh

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

– שִׁנְעָ֖ר

šin·‘ār

of Shinar –

וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ

way·yê·šə·ḇū

. שָֽׁם׃

šām.

וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ רֵעֵ֗הוּ

rê·‘ê·hū,

､ הָ֚בָה

hā·ḇāh

come ､

נִלְבְּנָ֣ה

nil·bə·nāh

､ לְבֵנִ֔ים

lə·ḇê·nîm,

וְנִשְׂרְפָ֖ה

wə·niś·rə·p̄āh

and bake [them]

. לִשְׂרֵפָ֑ה

liś·rê·p̄āh;

וַתְּהִ֨י

wat·tə·hî

לָהֶ֤ם

lā·hem

הַלְּבֵנָה֙

hal·lə·ḇê·nāh

､ לְאָ֔בֶן

lə·’ā·ḇen,

וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ר

wə·ha·ḥê·mār,

הָיָ֥ה

hā·yāh

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

-

. לַחֹֽמֶר׃

la·ḥō·mer.

､ וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

And they said ､

､ הָ֣בָה ׀

hā·ḇāh

come ､

נִבְנֶה־

niḇ·neh-

לָּ֣נוּ

lā·nū

עִ֗יר

‘îr,

､ וּמִגְדָּל֙

ū·miḡ·dāl

and a tower ､

וְרֹאשׁ֣וֹ

wə·rō·šōw

and the top [is]

– בַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

ḇaš·šā·ma·yim,

in the heavens –

וְנַֽעֲשֶׂה־

wə·na·‘ă·śeh-

and let us make

לָּ֖נוּ

lā·nū

､ שֵׁ֑ם

šêm;

a name ､

פֶּן־

pen-

נָפ֖וּץ

nā·p̄ūṣ

we be scattered abroad

עַל־

‘al-

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

the face

כָל־

ḵāl

of all

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וַיֵּ֣רֶד

way·yê·reḏ

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לִרְאֹ֥ת

lir·’ōṯ

to see

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָעִ֖יר

hā·‘îr

the city

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַמִּגְדָּ֑ל

ham·miḡ·dāl;

the tower ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

בָּנ֖וּ

bā·nū

בְּנֵ֥י

bə·nê

the sons

. הָאָדָֽם׃

hā·’ā·ḏām.

of men .

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said ､

יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

､ הֵ֣ן

hên

עַ֤ם

‘am

the people [are]

､ אֶחָד֙

’e·ḥāḏ

one ､

וְשָׂפָ֤ה

wə·śā·p̄āh

אַחַת֙

’a·ḥaṯ

. לְכֻלָּ֔ם

lə·ḵul·lām,

they have all .

וְזֶ֖ה

wə·zeh

And this

הַחִלָּ֣ם

ha·ḥil·lām

they have begun

､ לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ;

to do ､

וְעַתָּה֙

wə·‘at·tāh

לֹֽא־

lō-

､ יִבָּצֵ֣ר

yib·bā·ṣêr

will be withheld ､

מֵהֶ֔ם

mê·hem,

כֹּ֛ל

kōl

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

יָזְמ֖וּ

yā·zə·mū

. לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ.

to do .

הָ֚בָה

hā·ḇāh

נֵֽרְדָ֔ה

nê·rə·ḏāh,

let Us go down

וְנָבְלָ֥ה

wə·nā·ḇə·lāh

שָׁ֖ם

､ שְׂפָתָ֑ם

their language ､

אֲשֶׁר֙

יִשְׁמְע֔וּ

[was] Milcah ､

בַּת־

of Haran ､

אֲבִֽי־

’ă·ḇî-

､ מִלְכָּ֖ה

mil·kāh

of Milcah ､

וַֽאֲבִ֥י

wa·’ă·ḇî

and the father

. יִסְכָּֽה׃

of Iscah .

וַתְּהִ֥י

wat·tə·hî

But was

שָׂרַ֖י

– עֲקָרָ֑ה

‘ă·qā·rāh;

And took

the wife

and they went out

אִתָּ֜ם

with them

מֵא֣וּר

､ כַּשְׂדִּ֗ים

of the Chaldeans ､

לָלֶ֙כֶת֙

to go

אַ֣רְצָה

to the land

of Canaan –

וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ
