וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אַבְרָ֔ם

’aḇ·rām,

לֶךְ־

leḵ-

לְךָ֛

lə·ḵā

-

､ מֵאַרְצְךָ֥

mê·’ar·ṣə·ḵā

of your country ､

､ וּמִמּֽוֹלַדְתְּךָ֖

ū·mim·mō·w·laḏ·tə·ḵā

and from your family ､

וּמִבֵּ֣ית

ū·mib·bêṯ

and from the house

､ אָבִ֑יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā;

of your father ､

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. אַרְאֶֽךָּ׃

’ar·’e·kā.

I will show you .

וְאֶֽעֶשְׂךָ֙

wə·’e·‘eś·ḵā

And I will make you

לְג֣וֹי

lə·ḡō·w

､ גָּד֔וֹל

gā·ḏō·wl,

וַאֲבָ֣רֶכְךָ֔

wa·’ă·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā,

and I will bless you

וַאֲגַדְּלָ֖ה

wa·’ă·ḡad·də·lāh

– שְׁמֶ֑ךָ

šə·me·ḵā;

וֶהְיֵ֖ה

weh·yêh

and you shall be

. בְּרָכָֽה׃

bə·rā·ḵāh.

וַאֲבָֽרֲכָה֙

wa·’ă·ḇā·ră·ḵāh

And I will bless

מְבָ֣רְכֶ֔יךָ

mə·ḇā·rə·ḵe·ḵā,

those who bless you

וּמְקַלֶּלְךָ֖

ū·mə·qal·lel·ḵā

and him who curses you

– אָאֹ֑ר

’ā·’ōr;

I will curse –

וְנִבְרְכ֣וּ

wə·niḇ·rə·ḵū

and shall be blessed

בְךָ֔

ḇə·ḵā,

in you

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת

miš·pə·ḥōṯ

. הָאֲדָמָֽה׃

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh.

of the earth .

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

､ אַבְרָ֗ם

’aḇ·rām,

כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

דִּבֶּ֤ר

dib·ber

אֵלָיו֙

’ê·lāw

to him

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

and went

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

with him

. ל֑וֹט

lō·wṭ;

וְאַבְרָ֗ם

wə·’aḇ·rām,

And Abram [was]

בֶּן־

ben-

חָמֵ֤שׁ

ḥā·mêš

שָׁנִים֙

šā·nîm

וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים

wə·šiḇ·‘îm

שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

בְּצֵאת֖וֹ

bə·ṣê·ṯōw

when he departed

. מֵחָרָֽן׃

mê·ḥā·rān.

וַיִּקַּ֣ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

And took

אַבְרָם֩

’aḇ·rām

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שָׂרַ֨י

śā·ray

､ אִשְׁתּ֜וֹ

’iš·tōw

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

ל֣וֹט

lō·wṭ

בֶּן־

ben-

､ אָחִ֗יו

’ā·ḥîw,

of his brother ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

כָּל־

kāl-

רְכוּשָׁם֙

rə·ḵū·šām

their possessions

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ רָכָ֔שׁוּ

rā·ḵā·šū,

they had gathered ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ

han·ne·p̄eš

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשׂ֣וּ

‘ā·śū

they had acquired

– בְחָרָ֑ן

ḇə·ḥā·rān;

in Haran –

וַיֵּצְא֗וּ

way·yê·ṣə·’ū,

and they departed

לָלֶ֙כֶת֙

lā·le·ḵeṯ

to go

אַ֣רְצָה

’ar·ṣāh

to the land

– כְּנַ֔עַן

kə·na·‘an,

of Canaan –

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

אַ֥רְצָה

’ar·ṣāh

to the land

. כְּנָֽעַן׃

kə·nā·‘an.

וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

And passed through

אַבְרָם֙

’aḇ·rām

בָּאָ֔רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ,

the land

עַ֚ד

‘aḏ

to

מְק֣וֹם

mə·qō·wm

､ שְׁכֶ֔ם

šə·ḵem,

of Shechem ､

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

as far as

אֵל֣וֹן

’ê·lō·wn

the terebinth tree

. מוֹרֶ֑ה

mō·w·reh;

of Moreh .

וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י

wə·hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî

And the Canaanite [was]

אָ֥ז

’āz

. בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

bā·’ā·reṣ.

in the land .

וַיֵּרָ֤א

way·yê·rā

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אַבְרָ֔ם

’aḇ·rām,

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said ､

לְזַ֨רְעֲךָ֔

lə·zar·‘ă·ḵā,

to your descendants

אֶתֵּ֖ן

’et·tên

I will give

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָאָ֣רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

. הַזֹּ֑את

haz·zōṯ;

וַיִּ֤בֶן

way·yi·ḇen

And he built

שָׁם֙

šām

מִזְבֵּ֔חַ

miz·bê·aḥ,

､ לַיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

to Yahweh ､

הַנִּרְאֶ֥ה

han·nir·’eh

who had appeared

. אֵלָֽיו׃

’ê·lāw.

to him .

וַיַּעְתֵּ֨ק

way·ya‘·têq

And he moved

מִשָּׁ֜ם

miš·šām

הָהָ֗רָה

hā·hā·rāh,

to the mountain

מִקֶּ֛דֶם

miq·qe·ḏem

לְבֵֽית־

lə·ḇêṯ-

of

､ אֵ֖ל

’êl

וַיֵּ֣ט

way·yêṭ

and he pitched

､ אָהֳלֹ֑ה‪‬

’ā·ho·lōh;

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

with

אֵ֤ל

’êl

､ מִיָּם֙

mî·yām

on the west ､

וְהָעַ֣י

wə·hā·‘ay

and Ai

– מִקֶּ֔דֶם

miq·qe·ḏem,

on the east –

וַיִּֽבֶן־

way·yi·ḇen-

and he built

שָׁ֤ם

šām

מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙

miz·bê·aḥ

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

to Yahweh ､

וַיִּקְרָ֖א

way·yiq·rā

בְּשֵׁ֥ם

bə·šêm

on the name

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וַיִּסַּ֣ע

way·yis·sa‘

אַבְרָ֔ם

’aḇ·rām,

､ הָל֥וֹךְ

hā·lō·wḵ

going on ､

וְנָס֖וֹעַ

wə·nā·sō·w·a‘

. הַנֶּֽגְבָּה׃

han·neḡ·bāh.

toward the Negev .

לָג֣וּר

lā·ḡūr

– שָׁ֔ם

šām,

כִּֽי־

כָבֵ֥ד

הָרָעָ֖ב

hā·rā·‘āḇ

. בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

bā·’ā·reṣ.

in the land .

､ וַיְהִ֕י

way·hî

And it came to pass ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

הִקְרִ֖יב

hiq·rîḇ

לָב֣וֹא

lā·ḇō·w

､ מִצְרָ֑יְמָה

miṣ·rā·yə·māh;

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

way·yō·mer

אֶל־

’el-

to

שָׂרַ֣י

śā·ray

､ אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ

’iš·tōw,

､ הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

נָ֣א

nā

יָדַ֔עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî,

כִּ֛י

kî

אִשָּׁ֥ה

’iš·šāh

יְפַת־

yə·p̄aṯ-

מַרְאֶ֖ה

mar·’eh

– אָֽתְּ׃

’āt.

you [are] –

､ וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

Therefore it will come to pass ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

יִרְא֤וּ

yir·’ū

אֹתָךְ֙

’ō·ṯāḵ

､ הַמִּצְרִ֔ים

ham·miṣ·rîm,

the Egyptians ､

､ וְאָמְר֖וּ

wə·’ā·mə·rū

that they will say ､

אִשְׁתּ֣וֹ

’iš·tōw

､ זֹ֑את

zōṯ;

this [is] ､

וְהָרְג֥וּ

wə·hā·rə·ḡū

and they will kill

､ אֹתִ֖י

’ō·ṯî

me ､

וְאֹתָ֥ךְ

wə·’ō·ṯāḵ

but you

. יְחַיּֽוּ׃

yə·ḥay·yū.

they will let live .

､ אִמְרִי־

’im·rî-

Say ､

､ נָ֖א

nā

אֲחֹ֣תִי

’ă·ḥō·ṯî

､ אָ֑תְּ

’āt;

you [are] ､

לְמַ֙עַן֙

lə·ma·‘an

יִֽיטַב־

yî·ṭaḇ-

it may be well

לִ֣י

lî

with me

､ בַעֲבוּרֵ֔ךְ

ḇa·‘ă·ḇū·rêḵ,

for your sake ､

וְחָיְתָ֥ה

wə·ḥā·yə·ṯāh

נַפְשִׁ֖י

nap̄·šî

. בִּגְלָלֵֽךְ׃

biḡ·lā·lêḵ.

because of you .

､ וַיְהִ֕י

way·hî

So it was ､

כְּב֥וֹא

kə·ḇō·w

אַבְרָ֖ם

’aḇ·rām

､ מִצְרָ֑יְמָה

miṣ·rā·yə·māh;

וַיִּרְא֤וּ

way·yir·’ū

הַמִּצְרִים֙

ham·miṣ·rîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

hā·’iš·šāh,

the woman ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

יָפָ֥ה

yā·p̄āh

הִ֖וא

hî

. מְאֹֽד׃

mə·’ōḏ.

וַיִּרְא֤וּ

way·yir·’ū

And saw

אֹתָהּ֙

’ō·ṯāh

שָׂרֵ֣י

śā·rê

פַרְעֹ֔ה

p̄ar·‘ōh,

וַיְהַֽלְל֥וּ

way·hal·lū

אֹתָ֖הּ

’ō·ṯāh

אֶל־

’el-

to

– פַּרְעֹ֑ה

par·‘ōh;

וַתֻּקַּ֥ח

wat·tuq·qaḥ

הָאִשָּׁ֖ה

hā·’iš·šāh

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. פַּרְעֹֽה׃

par·‘ōh.

וּלְאַבְרָ֥ם

ū·lə·’aḇ·rām

הֵיטִ֖יב

hê·ṭîḇ

he treated well

､ בַּעֲבוּרָ֑הּ

ba·‘ă·ḇū·rāh;

for her sake ､

וַֽיְהִי־

way·hî-

and he had

ל֤וֹ

lōw

-

､ צֹאן־

ṣōn-

､ וּבָקָר֙

ū·ḇā·qār

and oxen ､

､ וַחֲמֹרִ֔ים

wa·ḥă·mō·rîm,

and male donkeys ､

､ וַעֲבָדִים֙

wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm

and menservants ､

､ וּשְׁפָחֹ֔ת

ū·šə·p̄ā·ḥōṯ,

and maidservants ､

､ וַאֲתֹנֹ֖ת

wa·’ă·ṯō·nōṯ

and female donkeys ､

. וּגְמַלִּֽים׃

ū·ḡə·mal·lîm.

and camels .

וַיְנַגַּ֨ע

way·nag·ga‘

יְהוָ֧ה ׀

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

פַּרְעֹ֛ה

par·‘ōh

נְגָעִ֥ים

nə·ḡā·‘îm

גְּדֹלִ֖ים

gə·ḏō·lîm

with great

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ בֵּית֑וֹ

bê·ṯōw;

עַל־

‘al-

דְּבַ֥ר

də·ḇar

of

､ שָׂרַ֖י

śā·ray

אֵ֥שֶׁת

’ê·šeṯ

. אַבְרָֽם׃

’aḇ·rām.

of Abram .

וַיִּקְרָ֤א

way·yiq·rā

פַרְעֹה֙

､ לְאַבְרָ֔ם

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

and said ､

מַה־

what [is]

הִגַּ֣דְתָּ

אִשְׁתְּךָ֖

؟ הִֽוא׃

she [was] ؟

לָמָ֤ה

､ אָמַ֙רְתָּ֙

did you say ､

؟ אֲחֹ֣תִי

my sister ؟

､ הִ֔וא

she [is] ､

וָאֶקַּ֥ח

wā·’eq·qaḥ

so I might have taken

אֹתָ֛הּ

לִ֖י

to me

؟ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה

lə·’iš·šāh;

as my wife ؟

､ וְעַתָּ֕ה

wə·‘at·tāh

now therefore ､

הִנֵּ֥ה

hin·nêh

here [is]

､ אִשְׁתְּךָ֖

’iš·tə·ḵā

קַ֥ח

qaḥ

. וָלֵֽךְ׃

wā·lêḵ.

and go [your way] .

וַיְצַ֥ו

way·ṣaw

עָלָ֛יו

‘ā·lāw

פַּרְעֹ֖ה

par·‘ōh

､ אֲנָשִׁ֑ים

’ă·nā·šîm;

[his] men ､

וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֥וּ

way·šal·lə·ḥū

and they sent away

אֹת֛וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ

’iš·tōw

with his wife ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

כָּל־

אֲשֶׁר־
