､ בָּנָ֑יו

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

and said ､

､ הֵאָֽסְפוּ֙

hê·’ā·sə·p̄ū

Gather together ､

וְאַגִּ֣ידָה

wə·’ag·gî·ḏāh

that I may tell

לָכֶ֔ם

lā·ḵem,

אֵ֛ת

’êṯ

-

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

יִקְרָ֥א

yiq·rā

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

’eṯ·ḵem

בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית

bə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ

. הַיָּמִֽים׃

hay·yā·mîm.

the days .

､ הִקָּבְצ֥וּ

hiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū

Gather together ､

､ וְשִׁמְע֖וּ

wə·šim·‘ū

and hear ､

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

– יַעֲקֹ֑ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

of Jacob –

וְשִׁמְע֖וּ

wə·šim·‘ū

אֶל־

’el-

to

יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל

yiś·rā·’êl

. אֲבִיכֶֽם׃

’ă·ḇî·ḵem.

､ רְאוּבֵן֙

rə·’ū·ḇên

､ בְּכֹ֣רִי

bə·ḵō·rî

my firstborn ､

אַ֔תָּה

’at·tāh,

､ כֹּחִ֖י

kō·ḥî

my might ､

וְרֵאשִׁ֣ית

wə·rê·šîṯ

and the beginning

､ אוֹנִ֑י

’ō·w·nî;

of my strength ､

יֶ֥תֶר

ye·ṯer

､ שְׂאֵ֖ת

śə·’êṯ

of dignity ､

וְיֶ֥תֶר

wə·ye·ṯer

and the excellency

. עָֽז׃

‘āz.

of power .

פַּ֤חַז

pa·ḥaz

､ כַּמַּ֙יִם֙

kam·ma·yim

as the waters ､

אַל־

’al-

not

– תּוֹתַ֔ר

tō·w·ṯar,

you shall excel –

כִּ֥י

kî

עָלִ֖יתָ

‘ā·lî·ṯā

מִשְׁכְּבֵ֣י

miš·kə·ḇê

to the bed

– אָבִ֑יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā;

of your father –

אָ֥ז

’āz

חִלַּ֖לְתָּ

ḥil·lal·tā

you defiled [it]

יְצוּעִ֥י

yə·ṣū·‘î

to my couch

. עָלָֽה׃

‘ā·lāh.

he went up .

and Levi [are]

. מְכֵרֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

בְּסֹדָם֙

– נַפְשִׁ֔י

my soul –

בִּקְהָלָ֖ם

biq·hā·lām

to their assembly

אַל־

’al-

תֵּחַ֣ד

– כְּבֹדִ֑י

kə·ḇō·ḏî;

my honor –

כִּ֤י

kî

בְאַפָּם֙

ḇə·’ap·pām

הָ֣רְגוּ

hā·rə·ḡū

､ אִ֔ישׁ

’îš,

a man ､

וּבִרְצֹנָ֖ם

ū·ḇir·ṣō·nām

and in their self-will

עִקְּרוּ־

‘iq·qə·rū-

. שֽׁוֹר׃

šō·wr.

an ox .

אָר֤וּר

’ā·rūr

､ אַפָּם֙

’ap·pām

their anger ､

כִּ֣י

kî

– עָ֔ז

‘āz,

it is strong –

､ וְעֶבְרָתָ֖ם

wə·‘eḇ·rā·ṯām

and their wrath ､

כִּ֣י

kî

. קָשָׁ֑תָה

qā·šā·ṯāh;

it is cruel .

אֲחַלְּקֵ֣ם

’ă·ḥal·lə·qêm

I will divide them

､ בְּיַעֲקֹ֔ב

bə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

in Jacob ､

וַאֲפִיצֵ֖ם

wa·’ă·p̄î·ṣêm

and scatter them

. בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

bə·yiś·rā·’êl.

､ יְהוּדָ֗ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

אַתָּה֙

’at·tāh

[to] you

יוֹד֣וּךָ

yō·w·ḏū·ḵā

– אַחֶ֔יךָ

’a·ḥe·ḵā,

your brothers –

יָדְךָ֖

yā·ḏə·ḵā

Your hand [shall be]

בְּעֹ֣רֶף

bə·‘ō·rep̄

on the neck

– אֹיְבֶ֑יךָ

’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā;

of your enemies –

יִשְׁתַּחֲוּ֥וּ‪‬

yiš·ta·ḥăw·wū

לְךָ֖

lə·ḵā

בְּנֵ֥י

bə·nê

. אָבִֽיךָ׃

’ā·ḇî·ḵā.

of your father .

– גּ֤וּר

gūr

אַרְיֵה֙

’ar·yêh

of a lion

– יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

Judah [is] –

､ מִטֶּ֖רֶף

miṭ·ṭe·rep̄

from the prey ､

､ בְּנִ֣י

bə·nî

my son ､

– עָלִ֑יתָ

‘ā·lî·ṯā;

you have gone up –

､ כָּרַ֨ע

kā·ra‘

He bows down ､

רָבַ֧ץ

rā·ḇaṣ

､ כְּאַרְיֵ֛ה

kə·’ar·yêh

as a lion ､

וּכְלָבִ֖יא

ū·ḵə·lā·ḇî

and as a lion

､ מִ֥י

mî

who ､

؟ יְקִימֶֽנּוּ׃

yə·qî·men·nū.

shall rouse him ؟

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יָס֥וּר

שֵׁ֙בֶט֙

､ מִֽיהוּדָ֔ה

וּמְחֹקֵ֖ק

raḡ·lāw;

יָבֹ֣א

[שילה]

and to him [shall be]

יִקְּהַ֥ת

. עַמִּֽים׃

‘am·mîm.

of the people .

אֹסְרִ֤י

’ō·sə·rî

לַגֶּ֙פֶן֙

lag·ge·p̄en

to the vine

[עירה]

‘î·rōh

､ (עִיר֔וֹ)

‘î·rōw,

וְלַשֹּׂרֵקָ֖ה

wə·laś·śō·rê·qāh

and to the choice vine

בְּנִ֣י

bə·nî

the colt

. אֲתֹנ֑וֹ

’ă·ṯō·nōw;

of his donkey .

כִּבֵּ֤ס

kib·bês

בַּיַּ֙יִן֙

bay·ya·yin

､ לְבֻשׁ֔וֹ

lə·ḇu·šōw,

his garments ､

וּבְדַם־

ū·ḇə·ḏam-

and in the blood

עֲנָבִ֖ים

‘ă·nā·ḇîm

[סותה]

חַכְלִילִ֥י

עֵינַ֖יִם

and He [shall become]

– אֳנִיּ֔וֹת

וְיַרְכָת֖וֹ

wə·yar·ḵā·ṯōw

עַל־

‘al-

. צִידֹֽן׃

וַיַּ֤רְא

And He saw

מְנֻחָה֙

כִּ֣י

good ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

כִּ֣י

kî

– נָעֵ֑מָה

nā·‘ê·māh;

[was] pleasant –

וַיֵּ֤ט

way·yêṭ

and He bowed

שִׁכְמוֹ֙

šiḵ·mōw

､ לִסְבֹּ֔ל

lis·bōl,

to bear [a burden] ､

וַיְהִ֖י

way·hî

לְמַס־

lə·mas-

. עֹבֵֽד׃

‘ō·ḇêḏ.

עִקְּבֵי־

of the horse ､

וַיִּפֹּ֥ל

way·yip·pōl

so that shall fall

רֹכְב֖וֹ

rō·ḵə·ḇōw

. אָחֽוֹר׃

’ā·ḥō·wr.

לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֖

lî·šū·‘ā·ṯə·ḵā

For your salvation

､ קִוִּ֥יתִי

qiw·wî·ṯî

I have waited ､

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

גָּ֖ד

gāḏ

גְּד֣וּד

gə·ḏūḏ

– יְגוּדֶ֑נּוּ

yə·ḡū·ḏen·nū;

shall tramp upon him –

וְה֖וּא

wə·hū

but he

יָגֻ֥ד

yā·ḡuḏ

. עָקֵֽב׃

‘ā·qêḇ.

at last .

､ מֵאָשֵׁ֖ר

שְׁמֵנָ֣ה

šə·mê·nāh

､ לַחְמ֑וֹ

laḥ·mōw;

bread [shall be] ､

וְה֥וּא

wə·hū

and he

יִתֵּ֖ן

yit·tên

מַֽעֲדַנֵּי־

ma·‘ă·ḏan·nê-

. מֶֽלֶךְ׃

the wall .

וַֽיְמָרֲרֻ֖הוּ

way·mā·ră·ru·hū

And have bitterly grieved him

וָרֹ֑בּוּ

wā·rōb·bū;

and shot

וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֻ֖הוּ

way·yiś·ṭə·mu·hū

בַּעֲלֵ֥י

ba·‘ă·lê

. חִצִּֽים׃

ḥiṣ·ṣîm.

וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב

wat·tê·šeḇ

בְּאֵיתָן֙

bə·’ê·ṯān

､ קַשְׁתּ֔וֹ

qaš·tōw,

וַיָּפֹ֖זּוּ

way·yā·p̄ōz·zū

זְרֹעֵ֣י

zə·rō·‘ê

the arms

､ יָדָ֑יו

yā·ḏāw;

of his hands ､

מִידֵי֙

mî·ḏê

by the hands

אֲבִ֣יר

’ă·ḇîr

of the Mighty [God]

– יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

of Jacob –

מִשָּׁ֥ם

miš·šām

from there [is]

､ רֹעֶ֖ה

rō·‘eh

the Shepherd ､

אֶ֥בֶן

’e·ḇen

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

מֵאֵ֨ל

mê·’êl

By the God

､ אָבִ֜יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā

of your father ､

וְיַעְזְרֶ֗ךָּ

wə·ya‘·zə·re·kā,

and who will help you

､ וְאֵ֤ת

wə·’êṯ

and ､

שַׁדַּי֙

šad·day

by the Almighty

וִיבָ֣רְכֶ֔ךָּ

wî·ḇā·rə·ḵe·kā,

who will bless you

בִּרְכֹ֤ת

bir·ḵōṯ

[with] blessings

､ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙

šā·ma·yim

of heaven ､

מֵעָ֔ל

mê·‘āl,

בִּרְכֹ֥ת

bir·ḵōṯ

תְּה֖וֹם

tə·hō·wm

of the deep

רֹבֶ֣צֶת

rō·ḇe·ṣeṯ

､ תָּ֑חַת

tā·ḥaṯ;

בִּרְכֹ֥ת

bir·ḵōṯ

､ שָׁדַ֖יִם

šā·ḏa·yim

of the breasts ､

. וָרָֽחַם׃

wā·rā·ḥam.

and of the womb .

בִּרְכֹ֣ת

bir·ḵōṯ

אָבִ֗יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā,

גָּֽבְרוּ֙

gā·ḇə·rū

עַל־

‘al-

בִּרְכֹ֣ת

bir·ḵōṯ

הוֹרַ֔י

hō·w·ray,

of my ancestors

עַֽד־

‘aḏ-

up to

תַּאֲוַ֖ת

ta·’ă·waṯ

the utmost bound

– גִּבְעֹ֣ת

giḇ·‘ōṯ

of the hills –

עוֹלָ֑ם

‘ō·w·lām;

תִּֽהְיֶ֙ין֙‪‬

tih·yen

לְרֹ֣אשׁ

lə·rōš

on the head

､ יוֹסֵ֔ף

yō·w·sêp̄,

of Joseph ､

וּלְקָדְקֹ֖ד

ū·lə·qā·ḏə·qōḏ

and on the brow

נְזִ֥יר

nə·zîr

of the prince

. אֶחָֽיו׃

’e·ḥāw.

of his brothers .

בַּבֹּ֖קֶר

in the morning

he shall devour

､ עַ֑ד

‘aḏ;

the prey ､

וְלָעֶ֖רֶב

wə·lā·‘e·reḇ

and at night

יְחַלֵּ֥ק

yə·ḥal·lêq

he shall divide

. שָׁלָֽל׃

šā·lāl.

the spoil .

כָּל־

אֵ֛לֶּה

’êl·leh

שִׁבְטֵ֥י

šiḇ·ṭê

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

שְׁנֵ֣ים

šə·nêm

. עָשָׂ֑ר

‘ā·śār;

[and] ten .

וְ֠זֹאת

wə·zōṯ

And this [is]

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

דִּבֶּ֨ר

dib·ber

לָהֶ֤ם

lā·hem

אֲבִיהֶם֙

’ă·ḇî·hem

וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ

way·ḇā·reḵ

and he blessed

､ אוֹתָ֔ם

’ō·w·ṯām,

them ､

אִ֛ישׁ

’îš

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

כְּבִרְכָת֖וֹ

kə·ḇir·ḵā·ṯōw

according to his own blessing

בֵּרַ֥ךְ

bê·raḵ

. אֹתָֽם׃

’ō·ṯām.

The Death of Jacob

וַיְצַ֣ו

way·ṣaw

And he charged

אוֹתָ֗ם

’ō·w·ṯām,

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

､ אֲלֵהֶם֙

’ă·lê·hem

to them ､

אֲנִי֙

נֶאֱסָ֣ף

ne·’ĕ·sāp̄

am to be gathered

אֶל־

to

– עַמִּ֔י

‘am·mî,

my people –

קִבְר֥וּ

אֹתִ֖י

’ō·ṯî

me

אֶל־

’el-

with

אֲבֹתָ֑י

’ă·ḇō·ṯāy;

אֶל־

’el-

in

הַ֨מְּעָרָ֔ה

ham·mə·‘ā·rāh,

the cave

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

בִּשְׂדֵ֖ה

biś·ḏêh

in the field

עֶפְר֥וֹן

‘ep̄·rō·wn

､ הַֽחִתִּֽי׃

ha·ḥit·tî.

the Hittite ､

בַּמְּעָרָ֞ה

bam·mə·‘ā·rāh

in the cave

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

בִּשְׂדֵ֧ה

biś·ḏêh

in the field

､ הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֛ה

ham·maḵ·pê·lāh

of Machpelah ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

which [is]

עַל־

‘al-

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

the face

､ מַמְרֵ֖א

mam·rê

of Mamre ､

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

､ כְּנָ֑עַן

kə·nā·‘an;

of Canaan ､

אֲשֶׁר֩

’ă·šer

קָנָ֨ה

qā·nāh

אַבְרָהָ֜ם

’aḇ·rā·hām

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה

haś·śā·ḏeh,

with the field

מֵאֵ֛ת

mê·’êṯ

עֶפְרֹ֥ן

‘ep̄·rōn

､ הַחִתִּ֖י

ha·ḥit·tî

the Hittite ､

לַאֲחֻזַּת־

la·’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ-

as a possession for

a burial place .

וְשָׁ֥מָּה

קָבַ֖רְתִּי

מִקְנֵ֧ה

[were] purchased

הַשָּׂדֶ֛ה

וְהַמְּעָרָ֥ה

wə·ham·mə·‘ā·rāh

and the cave

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

that [is]

בּ֖וֹ

bōw

מֵאֵ֥ת

mê·’êṯ

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

the sons

. חֵֽת׃

ḥêṯ.

of Heth .

וַיְכַ֤ל

way·ḵal

And when had finished

יַעֲקֹב֙

ya·‘ă·qōḇ

לְצַוֺּ֣ת

lə·ṣaw·wōṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ בָּנָ֔יו

bā·nāw,

וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף

way·ye·’ĕ·sōp̄

then he drew up

רַגְלָ֖יו

raḡ·lāw

אֶל־

’el-

､ הַמִּטָּ֑ה

ham·miṭ·ṭāh;

the bed ､

､ וַיִּגְוַ֖ע

way·yiḡ·wa‘

and breathed his last ､

וַיֵּאָ֥סֶף

way·yê·’ā·sep̄

and was gathered

אֶל־

’el-

to

. עַמָּֽיו׃

‘am·māw.
