וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

נֹ֖חַ

nō·aḥ

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ בָּנָ֑יו

bā·nāw;

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

､ לָהֶ֛ם

lā·hem

to them ､

פְּר֥וּ

pə·rū

､ וּרְב֖וּ

ū·rə·ḇū

and multiply ､

וּמִלְא֥וּ

ū·mil·’ū

and fill

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וּמוֹרַאֲכֶ֤ם

ū·mō·w·ra·’ă·ḵem

And the fear of you

וְחִתְּכֶם֙

wə·ḥit·tə·ḵem

and the dread of you

יִֽהְיֶ֔ה

yih·yeh,

עַ֚ל

‘al

on

כָּל־

kāl-

חַיַּ֣ת

ḥay·yaṯ

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

of the earth ､

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

and on

כָּל־

kāl-

ע֣וֹף

‘ō·wp̄

､ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of the air ､

בְּכֹל֩

bə·ḵōl

on all

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

תִּרְמֹ֧שׂ

tir·mōś

､ הָֽאֲדָמָ֛ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

[on] the earth ､

וּֽבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

and on all

דְּגֵ֥י

də·ḡê

the fish

. הַיָּ֖ם

hay·yām

of the sea .

בְּיֶדְכֶ֥ם

bə·yeḏ·ḵem

. נִתָּֽנוּ׃

nit·tā·nū.

they are given .

כָּל־

kāl-

רֶ֙מֶשׂ֙

re·meś

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

הוּא־

hū-

it

､ חַ֔י

ḥay,

לָכֶ֥ם

lā·ḵem

יִהְיֶ֖ה

yih·yeh

､ לְאָכְלָ֑ה

lə·’āḵ·lāh

כְּיֶ֣רֶק

kə·ye·req

just as the green

עֵ֔שֶׂב

‘ê·śeḇ,

נָתַ֥תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

לָכֶ֖ם

lā·ḵem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אַךְ־

’aḵ-

But

בָּשָׂ֕ר

בְּנַפְשׁ֥וֹ

bə·nap̄·šōw

､ דָמ֖וֹ

. תֹאכֵֽלוּ׃

ṯō·ḵê·lū.

you shall eat .

וְאַ֨ךְ

wə·’aḵ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

דִּמְכֶ֤ם

dim·ḵem

לְנַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶם֙

lə·nap̄·šō·ṯê·ḵem

– אֶדְרֹ֔שׁ

’eḏ·rōš,

will I require [an accounting] –

מִיַּ֥ד

mî·yaḏ

כָּל־

kāl-

חַיָּ֖ה

ḥay·yāh

､ אֶדְרְשֶׁ֑נּוּ

’eḏ·rə·šen·nū;

I will require it ､

וּמִיַּ֣ד

ū·mî·yaḏ

and from the hand

. הָֽאָדָ֗ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

of man .

מִיַּד֙

mî·yaḏ

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

､ אָחִ֔יו

’ā·ḥîw,

אֶדְרֹ֖שׁ

’eḏ·rōš

I will require

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

the life

. הָֽאָדָֽם׃

hā·’ā·ḏām.

of man .

שֹׁפֵךְ֙

šō·p̄êḵ

דַּ֣ם

dam

､ הָֽאָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

בָּֽאָדָ֖ם

bā·’ā·ḏām

by man

דָּמ֣וֹ

dā·mōw

､ יִשָּׁפֵ֑ךְ

yiš·šā·p̄êḵ;

shall be shed ､

כִּ֚י

kî

בְּצֶ֣לֶם

bə·ṣe·lem

in the image

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

of God

עָשָׂ֖ה

‘ā·śāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. הָאָדָֽם׃

hā·’ā·ḏām.

､ וְאַתֶּ֖ם

wə·’at·tem

And as for you ､

פְּר֣וּ

pə·rū

– וּרְב֑וּ

ū·rə·ḇū;

and multiply –

שִׁרְצ֥וּ

šir·ṣū

bring forth abundantly

､ בָאָ֖רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ

in the earth ､

וּרְבוּ־

ū·rə·ḇū-

בָֽהּ׃

ḇāh.

､ אִתּ֖וֹ

with him ､

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

､ וַאֲנִ֕י

wa·’ă·nî

and I ､

､ הִנְנִ֥י

hin·nî

מֵקִ֛ים

mê·qîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּרִיתִ֖י

bə·rî·ṯî

אִתְּכֶ֑ם

’it·tə·ḵem;

with you

וְאֶֽת־

wə·’eṯ-

and with

זַרְעֲכֶ֖ם

zar·‘ă·ḵem

your descendants

. אַֽחֲרֵיכֶֽם׃

’a·ḥă·rê·ḵem.

וְאֵ֨ת

wə·’êṯ

and with

כָּל־

kāl-

נֶ֤פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

הַֽחַיָּה֙

ha·ḥay·yāh

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

אִתְּכֶ֔ם

’it·tə·ḵem,

with you

､ בָּע֧וֹף

bā·‘ō·wp̄

the birds ､

､ בַּבְּהֵמָ֛ה

bab·bə·hê·māh

the livestock ､

וּֽבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

חַיַּ֥ת

ḥay·yaṯ

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the earth

אִתְּכֶ֑ם

’it·tə·ḵem;

with you

מִכֹּל֙

mik·kōl

of all

יֹצְאֵ֣י

yō·ṣə·’ê

､ הַתֵּבָ֔ה

hat·tê·ḇāh,

of the ark ､

לְכֹ֖ל

lə·ḵōl

חַיַּ֥ת

ḥay·yaṯ

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

of the earth .

וַהֲקִמֹתִ֤י

wa·hă·qi·mō·ṯî

Thus I establish

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּרִיתִי֙

bə·rî·ṯî

: אִתְּכֶ֔ם

’it·tə·ḵem,

with you :

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יִכָּרֵ֧ת

yik·kā·rêṯ

shall be cut off

כָּל־

kāl-

בָּשָׂ֛ר

bā·śār

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

מִמֵּ֣י

mim·mê

by the waters

– הַמַּבּ֑וּל

ham·mab·būl;

of the flood –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

ע֛וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

מַבּ֖וּל

mab·būl

לְשַׁחֵ֥ת

lə·ša·ḥêṯ

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said ､

אֱלֹהִ֗ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

זֹ֤את

zōṯ

this [is]

אֽוֹת־

’ō·wṯ-

the sign

､ הַבְּרִית֙

hab·bə·rîṯ

of the covenant ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I

נֹתֵ֗ן

nō·ṯên,

בֵּינִי֙

bê·nî

וּבֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם

ū·ḇê·nê·ḵem,

and you

וּבֵ֛ין

ū·ḇên

and

כָּל־

kāl-

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

חַיָּ֖ה

ḥay·yāh

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

､ אִתְּכֶ֑ם

’it·tə·ḵem;

with you ､

לְדֹרֹ֖ת

lə·ḏō·rōṯ

for generations

. עוֹלָֽם׃

‘ō·w·lām.

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

קַשְׁתִּ֕י

qaš·tî

נָתַ֖תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

､ בֶּֽעָנָ֑ן

be·‘ā·nān;

in the cloud ､

וְהָֽיְתָה֙

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

and it shall be

לְא֣וֹת

lə·’ō·wṯ

בְּרִ֔ית

bə·rîṯ,

of the covenant

בֵּינִ֖י

bê·nî

וּבֵ֥ין

ū·ḇên

and

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

､ וְהָיָ֕ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall be ､

בְּעַֽנְנִ֥י

bə·‘an·nî

עָנָ֖ן

‘ā·nān

עַל־

‘al-

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth ､

וְנִרְאֲתָ֥ה

wə·nir·’ă·ṯāh

that shall be seen

הַקֶּ֖שֶׁת

haq·qe·šeṯ

､ בֶּעָנָֽן׃

be·‘ā·nān.

in the cloud ､

וְזָכַרְתִּ֣י

wə·zā·ḵar·tî

and I will remember

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ בְּרִיתִ֗י

bə·rî·ṯî,

My covenant ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

which [is]

בֵּינִי֙

bê·nî

וּבֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם

ū·ḇê·nê·ḵem,

and you

וּבֵ֛ין

ū·ḇên

and

כָּל־

kāl-

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

חַיָּ֖ה

ḥay·yāh

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

of all

– בָּשָׂ֑ר

bā·śār;

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יִֽהְיֶ֨ה

yih·yeh

ע֤וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

הַמַּ֙יִם֙

ham·ma·yim

､ לְמַבּ֔וּל

lə·mab·būl,

a flood ､

לְשַׁחֵ֖ת

lə·ša·ḥêṯ

כָּל־

kāl-

. בָּשָֽׂר׃

bā·śār.

וְהָיְתָ֥ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

And shall be

הַקֶּ֖שֶׁת

haq·qe·šeṯ

– בֶּֽעָנָ֑ן

be·‘ā·nān;

in the cloud –

וּרְאִיתִ֗יהָ

ū·rə·’î·ṯî·hā,

and I will look on it

לִזְכֹּר֙

liz·kōr

בְּרִ֣ית

bə·rîṯ

עוֹלָ֔ם

‘ō·w·lām,

בֵּ֣ין

bên

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

וּבֵין֙

ū·ḇên

and

כָּל־

kāl-

נֶ֣פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

חַיָּ֔ה

ḥay·yāh,

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

of all

בָּשָׂ֖ר

bā·śār

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ נֹ֑חַ

nō·aḥ;

Noah ､

זֹ֤את

zōṯ

this [is]

אֽוֹת־

’ō·wṯ-

the sign

､ הַבְּרִית֙

hab·bə·rîṯ

of the covenant ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

הֲקִמֹ֔תִי

hă·qi·mō·ṯî,

I have established

בֵּינִ֕י

וּבֵ֥ין

and

כָּל־

kāl-

בָּשָׂ֖ר

bā·śār

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

that [is]

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

Noah's Sons

וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ

And were

בְנֵי־

the sons

נֹ֗חַ

nō·aḥ,

הַיֹּֽצְאִים֙

hay·yō·ṣə·’îm

מִן־

min-

of

､ הַתֵּבָ֔ה

hat·tê·ḇāh,

the ark ､

､ שֵׁ֖ם

šêm

Shem ､

､ וְחָ֣ם

wə·ḥām

and Ham ､

– וָיָ֑פֶת

wā·yā·p̄eṯ;

and Japheth –

､ וְחָ֕ם

wə·ḥām

and Ham ､

ה֖וּא

hū

אֲבִ֥י

’ă·ḇî

. כְנָֽעַן׃

ḵə·nā·‘an.

שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה

šə·lō·šāh

אֵ֖לֶּה

’êl·leh

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

the sons

､ נֹ֑חַ

nō·aḥ;

of Noah ､

וּמֵאֵ֖לֶּה

ū·mê·’êl·leh

נָֽפְצָ֥ה

nā·p̄ə·ṣāh

כָל־

ḵāl

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

Noah's Shame and Canaan's Curse

וַיָּ֥חֶל

way·yā·ḥel

And began [to be]

נֹ֖חַ

nō·aḥ

אִ֣ישׁ

’îš

､ הָֽאֲדָמָ֑ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh;

of the soil ､

וַיִּטַּ֖ע

way·yiṭ·ṭa‘

and he planted

. כָּֽרֶם׃

kā·rem.

וַיֵּ֥שְׁתְּ

way·yê·šət

And he drank

מִן־

min-

of

､ הַיַּ֖יִן

hay·ya·yin

the wine ､

– וַיִּשְׁכָּ֑ר

way·yiš·kār;

and became drunk –

וַיִּתְגַּ֖ל

way·yiṯ·gal

and he was uncovered

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

. אָהֳלֹֽה׃‪‬

’ā·ho·lōh

וַיַּ֗רְא

way·yar,

And saw

､ חָ֚ם

ḥām

Ham ､

אֲבִ֣י

’ă·ḇî

､ כְנַ֔עַן

ḵə·na·‘an,

of Canaan ､

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

עֶרְוַ֣ת

‘er·waṯ

､ אָבִ֑יו

’ā·ḇîw;

of his father ､

וַיַּגֵּ֥ד

way·yag·gêḏ

and he told

לִשְׁנֵֽי־

liš·nê-

אֶחָ֖יו

’e·ḥāw

. בַּחֽוּץ׃

ba·ḥūṣ.

וַיִּקַּח֩

way·yiq·qaḥ

But took

שֵׁ֨ם

šêm

וָיֶ֜פֶת

wā·ye·p̄eṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַשִּׂמְלָ֗ה

haś·śim·lāh,

וַיָּשִׂ֙ימוּ֙

way·yā·śî·mū

and laid [it]

עַל־

‘al-

on

שְׁכֶ֣ם

šə·ḵem

､ שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם

šə·nê·hem,

of the two of them ､

וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙

way·yê·lə·ḵū

and went

､ אֲחֹ֣רַנִּ֔ית

’ă·ḥō·ran·nîṯ,

וַיְכַסּ֕וּ

way·ḵas·sū

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

עֶרְוַ֣ת

‘er·waṯ

– אֲבִיהֶ֑ם

’ă·ḇî·hem;

of their father –

וּפְנֵיהֶם֙

ū·p̄ə·nê·hem

and their faces

､ אֲחֹ֣רַנִּ֔ית

’ă·ḥō·ran·nîṯ,

[were] backward ､

וְעֶרְוַ֥ת

wə·‘er·waṯ

and the nakedness

אֲבִיהֶ֖ם

’ă·ḇî·hem

of their father

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. רָאֽוּ׃

rā·’ū.

וַיִּ֥יקֶץ

way·yî·qeṣ

נֹ֖חַ

nō·aḥ

､ מִיֵּינ֑וֹ

mî·yê·nōw;

from his wine ､

וַיֵּ֕דַע

way·yê·ḏa‘

and knew

אֵ֛ת

’êṯ

-

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָ֥שָׂה־

‘ā·śāh-

ל֖וֹ

lōw

to him

בְּנ֥וֹ

bə·nōw

הַקָּטָֽן׃

haq·qā·ṭān.

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

אָר֣וּר

’ā·rūr

– כְּנָ֑עַן

kə·nā·‘an;

עֶ֥בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ

עֲבָדִ֖ים

‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm

יִֽהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

he shall be

. לְאֶחָֽיו׃

lə·’e·ḥāw.

to his brothers .

Shem's Blessing and Noah's Death

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

בָּר֥וּךְ

bā·rūḵ

יְהֹוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹ֣הֵי

’ĕ·lō·hê

the God

– שֵׁ֑ם

šêm;

of Shem –

וִיהִ֥י

wî·hî

and may [be]

כְנַ֖עַן

ḵə·na·‘an

עֶ֥בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ

. לָֽמוֹ׃

lā·mōw.

יַ֤פְתְּ

yap̄t

אֱלֹהִים֙

’ĕ·lō·hîm

､ לְיֶ֔פֶת

lə·ye·p̄eṯ,

וְיִשְׁכֹּ֖ן

wə·yiš·kōn

and may he dwell

בְּאָֽהֳלֵי־

bə·’ā·ho·lê-

in the tents

– שֵׁ֑ם

šêm;

of Shem –

וִיהִ֥י

wî·hî

and may be

כְנַ֖עַן

ḵə·na·‘an

עֶ֥בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ

. לָֽמוֹ׃

lā·mōw.

וַֽיְחִי־

way·ḥî-

נֹ֖חַ

nō·aḥ

אַחַ֣ר

’a·ḥar

הַמַּבּ֑וּל

ham·mab·būl;

שְׁלֹ֤שׁ

šə·lōš

מֵאוֹת֙

mê·’ō·wṯ

שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

וַֽחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים

wa·ḥă·miš·šîm

. שָׁנָֽה׃

šā·nāh.

וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙

way·yih·yū

כָּל־

kāl-

יְמֵי־

yə·mê-

the days

נֹ֔חַ

nō·aḥ,

תְּשַׁ֤ע

tə·ša‘

מֵאוֹת֙

mê·’ō·wṯ

שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים

wa·ḥă·miš·šîm

､ שָׁנָ֑ה

šā·nāh;

. וַיָּמֹֽת׃

way·yā·mōṯ.

and he died .
