וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר

Noah ､

וְאֵ֤ת

wə·’êṯ

and

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הַֽחַיָּה֙

ha·ḥay·yāh

living thing ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

כָּל־

kāl-

הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה

hab·bə·hê·māh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

with him

– בַּתֵּבָ֑ה

bat·tê·ḇāh;

in the ark –

וַיַּעֲבֵ֨ר

way·ya·‘ă·ḇêr

and made to pass

אֱלֹהִ֥ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

ר֙וּחַ֙

rū·aḥ

עַל־

‘al-

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth ､

וַיָּשֹׁ֖כּוּ

way·yā·šōk·kū

. הַמָּֽיִם׃

ham·mā·yim.

the waters .

וַיִּסָּֽכְרוּ֙

way·yis·sā·ḵə·rū

And were stopped

מַעְיְנֹ֣ת

ma‘·yə·nōṯ

､ תְּה֔וֹם

tə·hō·wm,

of the deep ､

וַֽאֲרֻבֹּ֖ת

wa·’ă·rub·bōṯ

and the windows

､ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of heaven ､

וַיִּכָּלֵ֥א

way·yik·kā·lê

and was restrained

הַגֶּ֖שֶׁם

hag·ge·šem

the rain

מִן־

min-

. הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

haš·šā·mā·yim.

וַיָּשֻׁ֧בוּ

way·yā·šu·ḇū

הַמַּ֛יִם

ham·ma·yim

מֵעַ֥ל

mê·‘al

､ הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the earth ､

הָל֣וֹךְ

hā·lō·wḵ

– וָשׁ֑וֹב

wā·šō·wḇ;

וַיַּחְסְר֣וּ

way·yaḥ·sə·rū

הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

מִקְצֵ֕ה

miq·ṣêh

at the end

חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים

ḥă·miš·šîm

וּמְאַ֖ת

ū·mə·’aṯ

. יֽוֹם׃

yō·wm.

וַתָּ֤נַח

wat·tā·naḥ

הַתֵּבָה֙

the ark

בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ

in the month

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י

בְּשִׁבְעָה־

on the seven

עָשָׂ֥ר

‘ā·śār

י֖וֹם

､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

of the month ､

עַ֖ל

הָרֵ֥י

. אֲרָרָֽט׃

’ă·rā·rāṭ.

וְהַמַּ֗יִם

wə·ham·ma·yim,

And the waters

הָיוּ֙

hā·yū

הָל֣וֹךְ

hā·lō·wḵ

וְחָס֔וֹר

wə·ḥā·sō·wr,

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

הַחֹ֣דֶשׁ

ha·ḥō·ḏeš

– הָֽעֲשִׂירִ֑י

hā·‘ă·śî·rî;

בָּֽעֲשִׂירִי֙

bā·‘ă·śî·rî

in the tenth [month]

בְּאֶחָ֣ד

bə·’e·ḥāḏ

on the first [day]

､ לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš,

of the month ､

נִרְא֖וּ

nir·’ū

רָאשֵׁ֥י

rā·šê

the tops

. הֶֽהָרִֽים׃

he·hā·rîm.

of the mountains .

Noah Sends a Raven and a Dove

וַֽיְהִ֕י

way·hî

So it came to pass

מִקֵּ֖ץ

miq·qêṣ

at the end

אַרְבָּעִ֣ים

’ar·bā·‘îm

､ י֑וֹם

yō·wm;

days ､

וַיִּפְתַּ֣ח

way·yip̄·taḥ

נֹ֔חַ

nō·aḥ,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

חַלּ֥וֹן

ḥal·lō·wn

הַתֵּבָ֖ה

hat·tê·ḇāh

of the ark

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

– עָשָֽׂה׃

‘ā·śāh.

he had made –

וַיְשַׁלַּ֖ח

way·šal·laḥ

and he sent out

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָֽעֹרֵ֑ב

hā·‘ō·rêḇ;

a raven ､

וַיֵּצֵ֤א

way·yê·ṣê

and it went forth

יָצוֹא֙

yā·ṣō·w

､ וָשׁ֔וֹב

wā·šō·wḇ,

and returning ､

עַד־

‘aḏ-

יְבֹ֥שֶׁת

yə·ḇō·šeṯ

הַמַּ֖יִם

ham·ma·yim

מֵעַ֥ל

mê·‘al

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח

way·šal·laḥ

And He sent out

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַיּוֹנָ֖ה

hay·yō·w·nāh

､ מֵאִתּ֑וֹ

mê·’it·tōw;

from himself ､

לִרְאוֹת֙

lir·’ō·wṯ

to see

הֲקַ֣לּוּ

hă·qal·lū

הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

מֵעַ֖ל

mê·‘al

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

the face

– הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh.

of the ground –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

but no

מָצְאָה֩

mā·ṣə·’āh

הַיּוֹנָ֨ה

hay·yō·w·nāh

the dove

מָנ֜וֹחַ

mā·nō·w·aḥ

לְכַף־

lə·ḵap̄-

､ רַגְלָ֗הּ

raḡ·lāh,

of her foot ､

וַתָּ֤שָׁב

wat·tā·šāḇ

and she returned

אֵלָיו֙

’ê·lāw

to him

אֶל־

’el-

､ הַתֵּבָ֔ה

hat·tê·ḇāh,

the ark ､

כִּי־

kî-

מַ֖יִם

ma·yim

the waters [were]

עַל־

‘al-

on

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

the face

כָל־

ḵāl

. הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth .

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

way·yiš·laḥ

So he put out

､ יָדוֹ֙

yā·ḏōw

וַיִּקָּחֶ֔הָ

way·yiq·qā·ḥe·hā,

וַיָּבֵ֥א

way·yā·ḇê

and drew

אֹתָ֛הּ

’ō·ṯāh

אֵלָ֖יו

’ê·lāw

אֶל־

’el-

. הַתֵּבָֽה׃

hat·tê·ḇāh.

the ark .

וַיָּ֣חֶל

way·yā·ḥel

And he waited

ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

שִׁבְעַ֥ת

šiḇ·‘aṯ

יָמִ֖ים

yā·mîm

– אֲחֵרִ֑ים

’ă·ḥê·rîm;

וַיֹּ֛סֶף

way·yō·sep̄

שַׁלַּ֥ח

šal·laḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַיּוֹנָ֖ה

hay·yō·w·nāh

the dove

מִן־

min-

– הַתֵּבָֽה׃

hat·tê·ḇāh.

the ark –

וַתָּבֹ֨א

wat·tā·ḇō

and came

אֵלָ֤יו

’ê·lāw

to him

הַיּוֹנָה֙

hay·yō·w·nāh

the dove

לְעֵ֣ת

lə·‘êṯ

in

– עֶ֔רֶב

‘e·reḇ,

the evening –

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

wə·hin·nêh

עֲלֵה־

‘ă·lêh-

זַ֖יִת

za·yiṯ

טָרָ֣ף

ṭā·rāp̄

freshly plucked

– בְּפִ֑יהָ

bə·p̄î·hā;

[was] in her mouth –

וַיֵּ֣דַע

way·yê·ḏa‘

and knew

נֹ֔חַ

nō·aḥ,

כִּי־

kî-

קַ֥לּוּ

qal·lū

הַמַּ֖יִם

ham·ma·yim

מֵעַ֥ל

mê·‘al

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וַיִּיָּ֣חֶל

way·yî·yā·ḥel

So he waited

ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

שִׁבְעַ֥ת

šiḇ·‘aṯ

יָמִ֖ים

yā·mîm

– אֲחֵרִ֑ים

’ă·ḥê·rîm;

וַיְשַׁלַּח֙

way·šal·laḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– הַיּוֹנָ֔ה

hay·yō·w·nāh,

the dove –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

יָסְפָ֥ה

yā·sə·p̄āh

שׁוּב־

šūḇ-

אֵלָ֖יו

’ê·lāw

to him

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

Exiting the Ark

וַֽ֠יְהִי

way·hî

And it came to pass

בְּאַחַ֨ת

bə·’a·ḥaṯ

in the one

וְשֵׁשׁ־

wə·šêš-

and six

מֵא֜וֹת

mê·’ō·wṯ

שָׁנָ֗ה

šā·nāh,

בָּֽרִאשׁוֹן֙

bā·ri·šō·wn

in the first [month]

בְּאֶחָ֣ד

bə·’e·ḥāḏ

on the first [day]

､ לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš,

of the month ､

חָֽרְב֥וּ

ḥā·rə·ḇū

that were dried up

הַמַּ֖יִם

ham·ma·yim

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

. הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth .

וַיָּ֤סַר

way·yā·sar

נֹ֙חַ֙

nō·aḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מִכְסֵ֣ה

miḵ·sêh

､ הַתֵּבָ֔ה

hat·tê·ḇāh,

of the ark ､

､ וַיַּ֕רְא

way·yar

and he looked ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֥ה

wə·hin·nêh

and indeed ､

חָֽרְב֖וּ

ḥā·rə·ḇū

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

. הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh.

of the ground .

וּבַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙

ū·ḇa·ḥō·ḏeš

And in the month

הַשֵּׁנִ֔י

haš·šê·nî,

בְּשִׁבְעָ֧ה

bə·šiḇ·‘āh

on the seven

וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים

wə·‘eś·rîm

י֖וֹם

yō·wm

､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš;

of the month ､

יָבְשָׁ֖ה

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

and livestock ､

וּבְכָל־

הָרֶ֛מֶשׂ

הָרֹמֵ֥שׂ

עַל־

‘al-

on

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

[הוצא]

(הַיְצֵ֣א)

אִתָּ֑ךְ

’it·tāḵ;

with you

וְשָֽׁרְצ֣וּ

wə·šā·rə·ṣū

so that they may abound

､ בָאָ֔רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ,

on the earth ､

､ וּפָר֥וּ

ū·p̄ā·rū

and be fruitful ､

וְרָב֖וּ

wə·rā·ḇū

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

the earth .

וַיֵּ֖צֵא־

way·yê·ṣê-

､ נֹ֑חַ

nō·aḥ;

Noah ､

､ וּבָנָ֛יו

and his sons ､

､ וְאִשְׁתּ֥וֹ

wə·’iš·tōw

and his wife ､

וּנְשֵֽׁי־

and the wives

בָנָ֖יו

ḇā·nāw

. אִתּֽוֹ׃

’it·tōw.

with him .

כָּל־

kāl-

､ הַֽחַיָּ֗ה

ha·ḥay·yāh,

､ הָרֶ֙מֶשׂ֙

creeping thing ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

､ הָע֔וֹף

hā·‘ō·wp̄,

bird ､

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

רוֹמֵ֣שׂ

rō·w·mêś

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth ､

､ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם

lə·miš·pə·ḥō·ṯê·hem,

according to their families ､

יָצְא֖וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū

מִן־

min-

. הַתֵּבָֽה׃

hat·tê·ḇāh.

of the ark .

Noah Builds an Altar

וַיִּ֥בֶן

way·yi·ḇen

נֹ֛חַ

nō·aḥ

מִזְבֵּ֖חַ

miz·bê·aḥ

– לַֽיהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

to Yahweh –

וַיִּקַּ֞ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

and he took

מִכֹּ֣ל ׀

mik·kōl

､ הַבְּהֵמָ֣ה

hab·bə·hê·māh

הַטְּהוֹרָ֗ה

haṭ·ṭə·hō·w·rāh,

וּמִכֹּל֙

ū·mik·kōl

and of every

הָע֣וֹף

hā·‘ō·wp̄

､ הַטָּהֹ֔ר

haṭ·ṭā·hōr,

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

and he offered

עֹלֹ֖ת

‘ō·lōṯ

burnt offerings

. בַּמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

bam·miz·bê·aḥ.

on the altar .

וַיָּ֣רַח

way·yā·raḥ

יְהוָה֮

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

רֵ֣יחַ

rê·aḥ

– הַנִּיחֹחַ֒

han·nî·ḥō·aḥ

the soothing –

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

אֶל־

’el-

in

､ לִבּ֗וֹ

lib·bōw,

לֹֽא־

lō-

אֹ֠סִף

’ō·sip̄

again will I

לְקַלֵּ֨ל

lə·qal·lêl

ע֤וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

הָֽאֲדָמָה֙

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

בַּעֲב֣וּר

ba·‘ă·ḇūr

､ הָֽאָדָ֔ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

of man ､

כִּ֠י

יֵ֣צֶר

yê·ṣer

the imagination

לֵ֧ב

lêḇ

in the heart

הָאָדָ֛ם

hā·’ā·ḏām

of man

רַ֖ע

ra‘

[is] evil

– מִנְּעֻרָ֑יו

min·nə·‘u·rāw;

from his youth –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

אֹסִ֥ף

’ō·sip̄

will I again

ע֛וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

לְהַכּ֥וֹת

lə·hak·kō·wṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

､ חַ֖י

ḥay

living thing ､

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר

and Cold

､ וָחֹ֜ם

and heat ､

וְקַ֧יִץ

wə·qa·yiṣ

､ וָחֹ֛רֶף

wā·ḥō·rep̄

and Winter ､

וְי֥וֹם

wə·yō·wm

and day

､ וָלַ֖יְלָה

wā·lay·lāh

and night ､

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יִשְׁבֹּֽתוּ׃

yiš·bō·ṯū.
